Worked in a community garden that had a few of these. Initially thought they were gimmicky, but really grew to like how generally functional the shape turned out to be. Yours is a thing of beauty. I love your capacity to bring the metal back from that awkward lobe shape imparted by the power hammer to a nice clean end without having to sheer it off. Much skill.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. I particularly love how close you forge to the finished product, whereas other smiths often just forge a square billet and cut and grind to the final shape. Verry cool to see, and awesome end result too!
So delighted to see actual forging. When you hammered in the shoulders it was refreshing. To many people now think that grinding a piece of metal then heating and quenching it is forging.
Very well done sir. Your talents are inspiring and your craftsmanship is impeccable. Your video and editing talents are also not to be overlooked. All around, very enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Beautiful work and beautiful finish, when you see it, you know who made it, not only because of the logo on the blade, but also because of the entire finish of the piece, a true handicraft. Thank you very much for sharing your videos, I send you a hug from the south of Argentina.
As always, art and metalworking combined for a stunning outcome. It is always a joy to watch your work and the results. Thanks so much for another wonderful video and greetings from Germany.
@@torbjornahmanand that extends to The Netherlands, too second that. After a hard day work its therapeutic to see a job done in one go! Thank you very much Torbjornahman. (at 8:10, burning fingers? nice you left it in the video, only the confident do that)
Tack !
The soldier and boy scout in me really appreciates the elegance of this beautifully crafted tool. That handle is really giving it a next level of craftsmanship. Great stuff. 🙂🫡
You are an equally great filmmaker as you're a craftsman. The way you present your work is a perfect mix of art, entertainment, documentation and instructions. The process always super clean, the result super sexy.
Great work as always. The handle is a real work of art. I love that birch wood. Nice work on the saw edge I never knew how you would make a saw edge. Glad I didn't see any bandages while you were working on it. That looked pretty sharp.
Very nice job as usual. Also great to see you recycling some old metal. I used old springs for most of my projects. Worth making friends with the local scrap metal yard. They put aside Wrought Iron for me when it comes in in workable sizes. The difference under the hammer is quite astounding. It works really easily and I have done a few replica old style stuff like hinges, door knocks and a fancy hanger rail.
I love your work every time, Artwork and to view the process amazing. The Wooden Handle, absolutely beautiful, along with finish and polish. LOTS of LOVE to Torborn Blacksmithing. :)
Absolutely love this video! My husband sent me this video because he knows how much I love my hori hori knife and watching fabrication videos. Your handle is GORGEOUS. Well done :)
I use a hori hori for gardening (nothing as fancy - the plainest version made by Nisaku). It's remarkable how versatile of a tool this is (keeping my planters in good shape is a breeze now), and yes, as others mentioned, a good sheath is a must.
Beautiful work. You can leave the brass pins long and heat them before trimming/sanding flush. It burns the wood slightly and leaves a slim dark ring. Just an extra detail to try out.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen a garden tool like that before, but then I’m not much of a gardener. Beautiful job all round, especially the handle, that curly burch looks great 👍. It’s a pity about your countries restrictions on importing timber, I’d like to send you over a piece of Tasmanian fiddleback oak, it would look great on that tool. Regards from Down Under.
I'll look into that once more... maybe a small "sample" is ok?! :) Hope you're enjoying the warmer weather coming your way... here it's pretty dull right now....
@@torbjornahmanWell…..the warmer weather has already arrived, all the air conditioning is on, and up goes the power bill😩😢, a bit of cool Swedish weather would be nice just now.
With age I concluded Irony was possibly one of the most crucial factors of life. This kind of metalwork has a ton of irony to it! Firstly it is without doubt the best medium to be creative with, the strength and longevity on its own being superior! However the amount of resources it would take to setup and forge these items really does have an ironic impact! Which( you are relatively free of.. lol
I appreciate the 'sped up' footage, for example the auto-hammer (if that's the right term). Because the hammering appears to have little effect it's cool to see it sped up to understand what is going on.
There is something graceful about your work. There is no fast forward, only rewind! Thank you.
:) Thank you!
@@torbjornahmanhi, can you advice what is your hammer type ?
@@backupviber6285 You have to be more specific? Not sure what you refer to.
@@torbjornahman ahhhh yes, what is your large automatic forging hummer type ?
@@backupviber6285 It's an old german made Beche hammer. 75kg ram.
Nice practical project, just in time for the snow.
Great garlic planter
don't eat shit
Use it to make ice holes to go ice fishing 😮
What’s a snow?
Great for checking snow depth on the windshield! ;-)

Oh, if you intend to use this, you will really want a belt sheath.
Yeah this is a beauty... but to any gardeners out there, a really simple cheap version does the trick as well! Love these tools.
Every single time I watch this man work, I am blown away by the utter mastery of the art. Your work is an inspiration.
With great respect,I like your professional way for taking care to all details, without talking, thank you!

his work is amazing
Nobody thinks that is forging, but everyone knows it's a very practical and quick way to make a tool.
@ I’ve seen many videos of “I forged a ….” And that’s exactly what they did. So I’m afraid there are people that believe it’s forging.
@@mclovinirish yes I've seen a coulpe of those its not shaping the metal with a hammer its shaping with a grinder which is ok just not forging .
My wife has one of those she bought at a store!!! It is no where near the quality of workmanship of yours!!! Awesome work!!!!
Thank you ThunderBear. You never disappoint. Greatest Love to You and yours
