If the next ones comes out In 5 months we already know one piece was picked 💀
I think that's a generous time frame unless our boy vegs out the entire series nonstop.
As an One Piece watcher, Detective Conan watchers scare even me
@@HelloOnepiece As one who watches both, the true person to fear is the one who can marathon the entire Pokemon anime
@@HelloOnepieceSazae-san fans are the scariest of them all.
@@axepuff411Is Detective conan good? I've always wondered how its managed to still be ongoing till now.
AH! I believed you there for a second there. In truth the X was added because 'Masako' was taken on AOL Instant Messenger so yeah...that's how old I aaaaaaaaam.
But yay, glad you covered this and the manga ending is so touching and realistic.
I've been reading more manga lately, so I'll definitely have to check that out! Thanks again for the recommendation!
The fact my voice acting Prometheus recommended my favorite romance anime is sparking a new flame in my creativity.
the MGX manga is Great!!
The manga was great, I really like the ending too.
But I wouldn't dare to recommend it to anyone, it takes courage to do so
You should honestly make it a tradition to spin the wheel for the final anime of each video of this series from now on. That way it involves your fans even more while at the same time giving you something good to watch. Just a thought.
And can help save his sanity.
I'm not really shocked by the mal randomizer results.
Mal has never been super good at what it's intended to be. It's a lot of work to catalog what you watched and give it a rating, especially if you aren't a newbie to anime. (I'm like 25 years into watching anime)
It also seems like people went through a lot of effort to list EVERYTHING even remotely animated or that an animator may have worked on, and if you count short 3 minute stuff like music videos and commercials, well, it far outweighs movies and possibly tv shows, or at least comes close to matching in quantity of titles. That sucks because what you want are movies and tv series....
Thirdly, a lot of people weight the quality of animation far too heavily in their ratings. More than the show's story itself in most cases, so you can have a really great story, and if it's early CGI, or aj art style that's not popular at the time it's being released (because that's when it gets the bulk of the reviews), or if it's something old being rediscovered and people review bomb it on its older animation style....
Well....
Ahhh, I love how weird and entertaining this series is. The research and context you add for each piece of media you cover is super interesting and appreciated!!! So glad this is a bit of a regular thing, albeit at your expense oftentimes. Keep doing what you do, man! :D
i'm honestly surprised somebody can love mgx while being grossed out by the saliva stuff, I thought anybody grossed out by it would just dismiss the show entirely. I very much appreciate your open-mindedness towards the anime, simply inspiring.
I've been trying to be more open-minded with the anime I watch on this show in general. I don't always succeed, but I try
@@Lextorias I mean Chainsaw man exist and theirs a scene where characters swap vomit because demon monster reasons
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 the vomit scenes in chainsaw man are clearly meant to be gross within the context of the manga though
@@Lextorias still vomit XD not that I care I read Pygmalion where people an children are slaughter an one little child morphs into have a monster exposed guts an all XD
one the monster bangs you before tearing you in half how fun
cause its wholesome relationship
I do enjoy the random button, but I appreciate you have a backup random wheel full of actual anime. Great vid.
I ended up here just because City Hunter was on your title card. My husband and I run a City Hunter-specific podcast, so seeing somebody new hop in with Goodbye My Sweetheart was pretty cool, actually. And it's really interesting to see how basically most of your takeaways from that movie almost totally sum up what the greater scope of the show is, too, from the cool action to Ryo being entirely too handsy. Like, that's it, that's the show. Obviously there's more character growth over time if you ever get into it, but I do think that film actually isn't so bad as it's own stand-alone media. Thanks for talking about it! Really cool to see it from a newcomer's perspective!
I honestly love this series, it’s cool that some series most people would skip over get a highlight. Thanks for the content.
I don't know if I should say you're lucky or not cause mutiple not-really-an-anime-series in one session when there's like, thousands of animes, is in it's own way amazing lol. I think it's cool that you also look up and talk about info on the things you watch. Hope you get some good series next time!
You should not skip music videos in the future as some of the most insane animation I’ve seen have been in MVs
Agree. Though when he described the group behind the song he covered I immediately thought "this has to be a Gorillaz rip-off". Damon Albarn was so ahead of its time when creating it.
@@KremBotop its in no way similar to gorillaz wtf??? theyre just a music duo like yoasobi. is every online music duo a gorillaz ripoff now??
DyE - Fantasy, anybody???
Honnestly Mysterious Girlfriend X is a true hidden gem. Many can't get past the "drool", but dammit, all the details in this anime is top tier.
I love the lightings, the walls of Tsubaki's room with the posters is a great touch to give it a "true to life" guy's room vibe, the music was great to enhance the show and to give some of the "surreal scenes" a good support. The romance is pretty nice. And finally the fanservice is really part of the show, and not shoved down your throat.
(I was typing all that while listening, and I'm glad you told many of this in your review)
protagnist got 4th base in a dream without first base in real life. Real hero.
Its etaphor and how they express their love is uniquelly done
well not many hated it when you look at how somehow the BS MAL rating is not review bombed into 5.02
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 thing is, not everybody rates on MAL for a first. Then you are the one bringing the sentence "not many hated it", I didn't, so it seems you know what I tried to convey. Many people simply just decided "EEww this guy taste the girl's drool, I'm so not gonna watch that".
But it's 100% true that due to most discussions I have had about this anime, I'm indeed surprised at how it rates quite decenrtly.
shoved down my throat? you mean like the drool?
Glad to see you getting those sponsors dude, you're authentic and it's great seeing it pay off
I voted that I rarely am bothered by saliva, but eating it from a stranger is fucking bananas. EDIT: Holy Moly that show is good so far, what the heck. Thanks for the recommendation
RIGHT? you honestly dont expect it to be so good but then you watch and your like "this shouldn't be good but im still gonna watch it"
i LOVE MGX. Its beautiful and the OVA is great as well. It's one of the only anime series I've given a 10/10 in MAL, because its genuinely amazing of a concept and story. I recommended reading the manga as well. Such a shame this didn't get a second season. Glad you enjoyed it!
Soundtrack slaps
@@rumplstiltztinkerstein on god man. The dream theme and the opening are probably gonna be my most heard songs on spotify/soundcloud 😂.
I just dig how it has a strange feeling while being grounded the part where the picture comes in taking so long instead of being a 1 minute thing just puts you in a mood
Nah man u weird af
Same
I am a simple person. I see Mysterious Girlfriend X, I click.
On god
this is the best series on youtube lmao its so cool, actually makes me discover somewhat cool stuff
this series is the reason i watched trigun: stampede and i am eternally grateful for it
“3D HORSE!” and the little subway surfers joke made me laugh way more than it should have lmao
I clicked on this video because I recognized the girl in the thumbnail. I was like, "Hey that looks like the spit chick from that one anime I tried watching in middle school." Glad I was right. I forgotten the name of it so thank you for reminding me.
my comment keeps getting automatically deleted. idk if it's the phrase you asked for that's doing it but I want to recommend Golden Kamuy.
Also you should watch Martian Successor Nadesico. That's my favourite anime EVER. Best mech parody series, better than G Gundam.
I personally wouldn’t consider G Gundam to be a parody series; it’s more so a mecha series that is absurd on its own, while Nadesico is more directly spoofing and satirizing other anime and the conventions of the medium.
That said, I’d strongly back up recommendations to watch either of them.
Back in 2016 when I was a wee lad, I stumbled upon City Hunter and I really enjoyed its character dynamics, format, humor, and the music. Animax really knows how to introduce you to such bangers.
exactly I too discovered it on animax literally one of my first animes along with kekkashi(kinda like bleach)and watching it rn toooo
@@bryson0206same, I also liked Kekkasihi because it was doing the same old Omnyouji shenanigans that are pretty common in many anime and using the power system of geometric Cuboids! 😂😂😂
Somehow I have easier time to look into the gore imagery of Fear and Hunger 1 game than watching those via saliva communications clips of Mysterious Girlfriend X, truly a work of bizarre fetish anime arts
Love this series. Even when it doesnt go as planned you keep it interesting and i learn alot. Its cool hearing about stuff in the depths id never find and finding out the depth of background info on stuff ive already watched. Glad to hear this will be a mainstay, dont get burnt out!
Mysterious Girlfriend X is actually one of my favorite series. The whole drool thing is kinda...out there... but the series makes up for it with how good the main couple are together.
I hate the drool, but will look over it as it is the main concept of the manga but still I love the story a lot
Happy to have activated the bell for your channel. You really should have millions subs man, your videos are awesome!
agreed, I originally wasn't expecting much from this video but now I cant wait for the next one. As always great work
This MGX anime's artstyle has this vibe that makes it tricky to tell when it was released. It looks both from the 2000s and from the 2020s. The only other anime I can think of that gave me this timeless vibe was Urusei Yatsura '22.
MGX the manga is rather tame compared to Riichi Ueshiba's previous work (Discommunication and Yume Tsukai, the latter is pretty disturbing).
Anime director Ayumu Watanabe has a good track record (After the rain, Children of the sea, many doraemon movies, ect.). The series is definitely worth watching despite the plot hook with the saliva exchange.
how much can miscommunication be for being such a short mana hshs
Here are some of my favourite anime, you should watch :
- Bocchi the Rock
- Erased
- Bungou Stray Dogs (this one is long though, there's 5 seasons)
- Brand New Animal
- Komi Can't Communicate
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury
- Nichijou
- Ranking of Kings
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai
- Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop
- Yuru Camp
and if you only do one recommendation per person / comment then my choice would be Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. It's one of my favourite films of all time but it doesn't do anything out of this world or anything. It's just a really simple & cute romance anime :) It would also be nice to see it get more of a spotlight as I personally haven't really seen many people talk about it
You should watch Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo!
A stylized anime adaptation of the book that takes the source material and makes it their own while still staying true to the source. If you watch it as you would watch a stage play, it's pretty cool
Gankutsuou was good for an anime, but the count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books, and I have yet to see an adaptation that can truly do it justice. Though I am pleased with it for the inclusion of a lot of characters that often get skipped over, including the princess and the fact that there were 3 villains, not a combination into 1.
Where it fails as an adaptation is that it has a limited run time and it tries to do it's adaptation from the point of view of basically a bystander that appears halfway through in the novel (the novel being Edmond's story, and the boy appears only after he is betrayed, imprisoned, and escapes), and only sees so much, as the the boy is a smaller pawn himself, which really make it a complicated story to tell.
Also, if you liked that series, you should watch chevalier d'eon.
Truly an amazing series.
I honestly forgot that Mysterious Girlfriend X was a thing Until I saw this video in my recommended. I guess I erased its existence from my mind after watching it all those years before. Thanks alot for giving me vietnam flashbacks, Lex. Now I want to forget this show again.
I found the drool in MGX did a great job exploring the physicality of a relationship without making it into porn.
"Anime was a mistake." Yeah, I'm pretty sure we've all thought that at least once.
Fan service is (i think) the number one thing that turns people off of anime. Back when I was a weeb (before anime was considered cool) everybody I would recommend anime to would say that they're not into cartoon porn. It also kind of kills stories when there's something dramatic happening but they have to insert a random panty shot for the pervs
Glad to see you back, Lextorias. I had to go see the uncensored version of this and it was worth it 😅. Also the bonus chapter was cool. Can't wait for more randomizer videos.
I love these randomizer videos you make. It really shines a light on how weird some anime can get, and I really enjoy your reviews of things that I have never heard of. I can easily imagine one of these days something from this series sounding so interesting that I want to watch it too.
I genuinely enjoyed the irregular at magic highschool. I'm glad you got it. that explanation was amazing.
I'm genuinely glad I never watched that spinoff. it sounds terrible. I never got through the first episode.
You should watch:
Michiko & Hatchin
Carole and Tuesday
Tetsuwan Birdy: Decode
No.6
Theyre all really underrated anime with solid stories and surprising amount of diversity for the anime industry (in terms of race and sexualities)
You should watch Nana, Paradise Kiss, or Skip Beat. All three are drama heavy (people can debate over the last one tho), but with a strong focus on romance, since you mentioned you wanted more realistic ones, I figured these might be up your alley.
Para kiss is always a win.
I read the entirety of Skip Beat but have not yet watched the show. Is it good? Im curious cause i rly love the manga and I hope the show does it justice
please never stop this series lmao. the first of these introduced me to your channel, stuck around since and I'm glad this still gets the same quality as the rest of your stuff
Absolutely love this series! It brings up so many weird an obscure stuff that I would have never checked out without finding it in a video like this. I remember when u came across “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” and I decide to check it out and it was awesome. I think it’s so cool how much research you put in your videos, never stop being you. Love the content man keep it up!!
This RUclips series is one of my favorites
yo!! i'm so glad to see how much you enjoyed mysterious girlfriend x, i remember really enjoying it and i'm glad it wasn't just me being early in my anime-watching with low standards
Love these episodes. Even if you stumble upon something obscure or non-anime TV series you still delve into it and provide very solid knowledge. Love this stuff.
Was hoping for another video in this series, always a fun watch. Especially getting to know information around the shows.
Mysterious Girlfriend X is a wild throwback to me, i remember reading that manga back in either middle school or early high school?? It felt like a fever dream. I never got to finish it, but I enjoyed what I did read. Minus getting icked by all the drool lol
Love this series. I really enjoy the depth you go into every anime before watching hope to see more soon
You should watch Blue Gender. It's super weird that I've never heard anyone talk about it considering it's a 90s anime where giant Mecha fight giant mutant insects in a post-apocalyptic Earth. It probably is obscured due to sheer level of violence...
Hahaha, guess it's time to refine the randomizer's algo or settings so you can filter out things that aren't shows. Maybe pick 1 or 2 weird things per episode and keep the rest as shows?
I'm not smart enough to program that
This is one of those examples that kind of proves that humans don't actually want randomized stuff, we want a bit more curation than that.
That being said, love this video format, don't change the randomizer wheel. Though, you might want to consider ALWAYS using the rando-mendation wheel for the LAST anime of each episode.
Gives a higher chance of ending the video on a banger.
I loved this format with a bunch of weird insane anime then one solid series recommended by viewers. Really good!
You should watch Tenkuu no Escaflowne; there is a series and a movie, though the movie is just a shorter, reimagined version of the anime.
80s Shonen Jump was insane. I mean it was the era when JoJo came out, has a battle Shonen with dogs fighting a giant bear, and a superhero professional wrestling battle Shonen.
This series is always interesting. Keep up the good work my man.
My dude this was amazing, funniest shit I've watched all week
so I just found your channel/series and I am into it so much, I've watch like 3 videos and didn't even realize one of them are 50min long, keep on the good work I will for sure come back here to see, the way you search for the anime history of the studio and explain a lot is for sure a way to know that you are REALLY reacting and not only watching and talking random things, there is already 2 animes you show that I want to check it out myself, so yeah, thank you for the good content
this series premise gives off the same kinda vibe as when you flip through the channels on tv until you find something interesting and watch it without any context of the previous episodes
You are officially one of my new comfort creators! Your content and style kind of remind me of Izzzyzz, and their stuff is super cool as well. Great work! And your voice makes the delivery very soothing, like animal crossing music haha :)
and by "style" i mean topics you cover; sorry, hit enter before I could get my thought right haha
Your reaction to the saliva really made me laugh out loud 🤣
Damn, I'm really sorry about MGX making you so uncomfortable. I can understand getting grossed out by something in an anime, I get into some pretty weird/dark stuff so there's a lot of uncomfortable things out there.
I really hope you don't get hooked into watching anything like that again (unless you want to ofc)
I think you should watch an anime called Ghost talkers daydream! It's an OVA with only 4 episodes but the premise is intriguing and I think more people should watch it
I used the viewer wheel from the description and got Seraph of the end, thank you for suggesting that whoever you were, truly a time machine to go back in time to see what anime was like not too long ago yet feeling so nostalgic.
I recently started to watch your videos, and I really like how you speak, and overall the vibes of your videos. So interesting and relaxing
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY New video from THE most underated RUclipsr ever!
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO COMFORTABLE AND LIKE THINGS WILL BE OKAY… FAITH IN THE FACT THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE LIKE ME
my favorite series please keep em coming
I am glad to say I watched MGX about 7 years ago, not only because it’s good but so I don’t have to ever see it again. I would go “awwww” one minute and then gag the next
Mgx is great bc the reletionship actually progresses. They don’t spend 19302 episodes with this more then friend but not lovers shit which feels so good and refreshing
You should also watch:
Parasite dolls
Sol bianca
Green legend ran
Garden of sinners (just the whole series of 7 films dude)
Read or die (ova, and rv series though they should be seperate)
Beck (mongolian chop squad)
Irina:vampire cosmonaut
Shadows house
World end (what are you doing...)
Gakuen alice (hilarious)
Wizard barristers
Black rock shooter (original tv series and dawnfall as two seperate entries)
Azumanga daioh
Bartender
Hataraki man
Gokusen
Atom:the beginning
I know it must have been a big decision. But glad to hear your doing RUclips full-time! Looking forward to more!
Thank you so much! With how much I enjoy making videos, it was the easiest decision in the world
You should watch Girls Last Tour, probably my favorite anime of all time
Boogiepop and friends. When and if you land on it someday, you won't regret it. You'll be in for an admittedly gorey but very intriguing and action-packed story that'll leave you wanting more episode after episode.
And boogiepop phantom
Cannot believe TFS Goku is man of culture. Watched Mysterious Girlfriend X after it's clips suddenly appearing on my timeline that were getting million+ views. At first it was hard to stomach, but got used to it and since it had a "purpose" meant it was more understandable. Great series for sure. Wish it had a S2
Love ur channel!
dude don't be apologetic when criticizing fan service or unnecessary sexualization, this community need to be told that, that kind of shit is just not "pasable" anymore, great content btw! Im subscribing ^^
You should watch O maidens in your savage season if you haven’t already!! I watched it because of a MAL challenge and ended up really enjoying it, it handles its topics incredibly well for an anime and is definitely up there on my list. Loved the video, excited for more content :)
I can never get enough of this series please make this an ongoing thing
The dangers of randomizers. Sometimes, you just strike out repeatedly. Oh well, hopefully next time is luckier.
Love these videos. Keep it up man!
Random ovas from the 80’s or 90’s are always something special. I like finding random ones and watching them and I don’t even really watch anime but there’s definitely more bad than good
What a fun watch, love these! MGX's premise caught me by surprise but it's so off beat that I'd be interested in it. Really enjoy that the fan recommendation wheel is still going, there's a 1/380 chance I'll see mine one day lol!
MGX is one of my favourites. It's weird how well WEIRD it is but its also weirdly wholesome? Like the main couple never kisses the entire manga.
“What psychopath is watching these ads enough to rank them??” “Solid should watch”
I'm so glad you made more of these videos!!!! I loved the first episode, saw it when I was doing a rewatch of Utena and it came up in my recommended.
As for Mysterious Girlfriend X, I read the series a long time ago and honestly got over the whole saliva grossness. I don't know if that's a good thing. I was so happy to see you cover it. Absolutely legendary anime.
If you're looking to get into manga, my absolutely nutso (in a very fun way) recommendation is seraph of the end. Core premise is that the world ended and everyone (with some exceptions) over the age of 13 died and then vampires came to kidnap all the children to use as blood cattle and it just gets more insane from there. Current arc includes dinosaurs. 10/10 would recommend, I am constantly confused
I don't even watch anime for a long time already, but I do enjoy your in depth explanations of your experiences with it
Found you recently love this randomizer series!
This video is great, I cant wait for the next one!
I've enjoyed your videos. I had not idea what the poll was about though, until this dropped hahaha.
btw, have you heard about Frieren at the Funeral/Frieren the Slayer? I think you might enjoy it. The manga is fantastic, and if the upcoming adaptation is good, it might be show of the year material :)
I am enjoying this series and look forward to more. Glad you finally got a series you enjoyed by the end.
You should watch Princess Nine and Tenchi Universe
You should watch Gatchaman Crowds , honestly in the beginning it has a premise that i already saw in many other places but as the episodes goes on i was surprised by how unique actually is. This show has a interesting take on what heroes job actually is and a concept that i never saw in any other place that is society kinda growing up, it's strange even putting in words but anyway is even more interesting how the villain is in a way a manifestation of the worst in us while acting like a kid just playing.
Anyway, this anime marked me for life and i find sad about how unknown and underrated it is, so i guess i'm just trying to make it a little bit more know. Oh, and the sinopse don't say anything about the anime, literally useless after the first ep.
I really enjoy these, even when you get things besides anime, you give some fun facts about them. I used the randomizer and got recommended this old, obscure anime that I'm going to start watching! Hope to see more of these :)
I totally agreed from you bro its so hard to decide what to watch next after finishing a good anime
Hey man I love this series you do it great one of my favorites.
You should watch:
Bessatsu Olympia Kyklos (time travel made stupid)
Hoozuki no Reitetsu (you know that scene in YuYu Hakusho where they first visit like hells waiting room and there's devils running around with paperwork? It's that.)
Aku no Hana (a kid who likes poetry has convinced himself he's too weird to relate to others, a girl in his class takes advantage of this)
Serial Experiments Lain (the internet is basically omnipresent right? abstract bullshit go!)
Nana (gals being pals, and then they were roommates, and they both deal with relationship stuff)
Welcome to the NHK! (Rewatching an anime about a paranoid shut-in during peak panini times was a mistake, great series though if you haven't already seen it)
MGX is one if the most underappreciated anime of all time. It's much more mature and content/minute heavy than most of the other romance anime. It clicked with me almost every second of its runtime.
I am glad that more people are talking about this, and especially that you rated this as a must watch!
I'll disagree with a drool thing though, I kinda liked it because of how intimate and unusual the concept is. Not the worst fetish I would say))
You should watch Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san. It might be a relatively simple middle school slice of life romcom built around teasing, but one with an incredibly cozy and wholesome vibe that will make you feel so heartwarmed most of the time. The lead couple's dynamic is stellar, they complement each other perfectly as they slowly but surely become closer. And it even improves on the souce manga by mixing up their mostly episodic chapters into a more cohesive narrative.
It's like 36 episodes long divided in 3 seasons; as well as an OVA set between seasons 1 and 2 and a movie set after season 3 that kinda wraps up the main story. I'm not exactly into SOL or romance series all that much but this one was such a welcome surprise.
I'm staring at the pity wheel of comments recommendations, and it landed on girlfriend X... WHAT PSYCHO RECOMMENDED THAT?! Im loving it and can't wait for the next several minutes of him trying to hold in his screams while describing this show. Good job you insane bastard who recommend this. These next several minutes of content will be a delight xD
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Ahh Mysterious Girlfriend X. Back when I read any interesting manga I could find I found and read this series. As someone who has read far to many ecchi romcoms it is easily one of the better ones despite it's weirdness, I even completely forgot the drool thing until I started watching the anime recently. Since you haven't seen many romcoms you should watch Arakawa Under the Bridge. It is another strange one(no drool, and incredibly no ecchi), honestly not sure if I would call it a romcom, the original manga is by the same guy that did Saint Onii-san if you know what that is.
If it's not already on your wheel, I think you should watch SSSS Dynazenon. It's a really good character-driven drama punctuated by excellent mecha action. In my recent rewatches I've actually started to consider that it might edge out Kill la Kill as my 3rd favourite anime.
Also SSSS Gridman, the previous show in the series and also very good. You don't need to watch it first, but it will help flesh out a certain character's backstory.
I have a great deal of respect for admitting that a particular aspect of a work of art makes you viscerally uncomfortable while also giving it a full-throated endorsement on its overall merits. There's a lot of posturing around off-putting or outré content in anime especially, in both the "for" and "against" directions, and I dunno, for all that I'm personally unfazed by stuff like this, I prefer that people just be real about what they feel and express that honestly. It's what art demands and what it deserves.
Great video, just wanted to thank you for blurring out all the spit scenes. I spent most part of the MGX segment covering my screen and just watching your face in the corner
