  • $20 Vegan 1 Week Meal Prepped in 1 hour! Is it possible in the US in 2023? Back in 2016 Cheap Lazy Vegan posted a $20 Canadian ($15 US) budget meal prep video in Wal-Mart. And today we decided to recreate her grocery list to see how expensive it is in today's dollars. I also wanted to see how easy her recipes were to make and how tasty they are.

So happy to see this channel is active again. Yes, plant based eating don’t need to be expensive. In fact in my college days 30yrs ago, rice+veggies is my go to food when i was down to my last $100. That lasted me a whole month too. To top it all off i did my grocery shopping at chinese/asian supermarket that sells all sorts of Asian veggies for cheap+10kg or 20kg bag of rice. It costed me about $50 back then. While it might cost close to $100 these days, it’s still cheap than having to buy meat, cheese & eggs.

I actually don't mind tinned corn and think compared to other tinned vegetables corn isn't bad that way, as opposed to things like asparagus, green beans and peas.
Here in Australia frozen corn costs about double what tinned corn does, so that's another thing to think about.
There's other budget videos of hers that I'd enjoy watching you try, one she did with lentil patties and many other things and made so much food from what she bought, it looked like about two weeks worth!

While “gourmet” type vinegars can be expensive…I find they last a very long time. A person could use cheaper vinegars. I also stock up if I ever see them on clearance ( because expired vinegar… it’s just “aged” 😂).

So sorry but not sure I follow what you've said completely, however she still bought most of what she used at the beginning from the total amount she had to spend, and then bought two more items at the end with what was left. So I think in total she spent maybe £10/$15?? Still going with the same types of size packages as the other challenge, let me know if you watch this series though, it's a really good one, quite creative at times. 👍

Did you mean to say 1 days' worth of meals because that does not look like enough food for a whole week!

Lmao I should have shown how much food was left over and how much total was prepared. But it made so much I had to freeze some of it so it wouldn't go bad before I could eat it all 😂

Just eat meat and eggs man. Reclaim your health. I don't mean this in a malicious way. I struggled as a vegan too and i can see your suffering. Animal based diet saved me.

Ain’t no way “water with a little bit of taco seasoning” broth can be the highlight of a meal😭 I can’t live like that

Lmao you might need to live on $30 a week then 😂
