I'd suggest starting the engine to check for leaks around the oil filter housing before re-installing the top engine cover.
If you flip your 5qt oil bottle over with spout on top the oil will pour smooth and with precision.
Loosen oil filter before draining oil. This will allow air behind oil and will drain faster and more efficent. The oil filter will now have no oil in it.
20 NM torque for the drain bolt AND oil filter cap. Also, in the oil filter package is a small O ring for the dip stick. FYI
Nice vid thank you ......ken. I have the 2013 c300 4matic bought it for my wifes birthday she loves it. Thank you
Yes, my wife loves her's as well.
Nice! Can you make a spark plug replacement video when it's time thanks.
I will Aaron if I ever have to change them out! It looks like a challenging video.
Thanks for the video. It was really helpful. There is no any information about 3.5liter. Today I've changed the oil of the engine. And I used 7liter oil. Is it okay?
John, unless I missed it, you mentioned that you are going to show the low profile ramps that you made. Can you please post the ramp video?
Sorry, I let them go after the stroke. I use a suction system now and don’t get under the car anymore.
@@JohnCanFixAnything OK. Thanks. I wound up fabbing up my own using 3 lengths of 2 x 12 lumber. Gives me a 4.5 in lift now.
Thanks for your quick reply!
Even easier way is to skip removing all the undercarriage stuff and get yourself an oil extractor such as the Topsider. Faster, easier, and much less mess to clean.
Actually, that is going to be my next video. The C300 filter location makes it perfect for an extractor.
Great video , I have the same car I just subscribed to your channel thanks
Thanks john
You are very welcome.
TY
Thank you
Nice video.
Great Video! Thanks for sharing all the techniques. I am just wondering how big your cap wrench is? Is it a 74mm 14 flute cap wrench or a 84mm 14 flute wrench?
74mm 14
great video thanks
Great video, couldn’t find anything for the 3.5! Just a quick question, does the new o-ring come with the filter? And if not can I have a link on where to purchase it?
Austin Gibson yes it comes with it. The brass washer you will need to pickup at your local parts store or order on Amazon
The new o-?Ring comes with the filter. Sorry for the late reply, just saw it.
I was just reading this again.. The rubber o-ring comes with the filter. There is just one on my engine. It is the large one around the thread area. Some have two and three o-rings.
I have 2012 c300 luxury what oil should i use from mobil 1 car has 11k miles also can i use mobil 1 oil filter? Thanks
I use Mobil one in all my vehicles. I don’t know about their filters but I’m sure they are good quality as well
I can not get those same cover off for anything. What size are you using?
thanks for the video, question, when you chk the engine level on the dipstick my manual says that the correct amount should be in the middle from high to low and yours was all the way to the top , am i wrong?
Anywhere in the range is fine. I like to keep mine on the high side just in case. But it is very important not to overfill as that will put undo pressure on engine seals. Thanks for watching the video.
John number you mean 8 mm
Socket ??? Right ??
Aggie Frazao yes 8mm
I know this video was posted years ago, but any chance you can tell me where to get the filter housing wrench?
Amazon
Hi John, great video, what is the brass o-ring size? thank you
I don't know the exact size. I will measure it on my next oil change. Here is the Dorman AutoGrade Oil Drain Plug Gasket
Part # 097-827CD
I pick them up at my local O'Reilly Auto Parts but I have seen them on Amazon as well.
Quick 2 question what is the size canister of the canister filter wrench and do you have a video on the air filter for a 2013 c300 4 matic ...it looks like it’s on the pas side on this model and not in the top engine intake plenum ?
I will measure the wrench size for you. I do not have a video for the air filter yet but will put that on my list. It is on the passenger side and comes apart lifts up. I have changed my air filter to a K&N right after I purchased the car. Pretty much eliminates changing air filters after that.
John its ok i measured the canister 74.5 mm my buddy said .........these germans just do some ??? stuff lol
appreciate all the help
There is no size on the wrench. It is the medium size.
whats the socket size for under the car ?
10 for the covers. 14 for the drain plug
dose this engine consume engine oil between oil change?
Norman Ran mine does not use oil
My C300 does not use oil between changes
@@JohnCanFixAnything ok, great, thanks, thinking about getting C300, because Audi and bmw burn engine oil
What if I use 5 w40 what’s the diference ???
0W has factually superior cold weather cranking and pumping performance vs 5W (per the definition of the grade). 0Ws go above and beyond the cold weather performance test requirements for 5Ws - and typically use more expensive and higher performance base oil to achieve 0W performance.
If you are in a warm weather climate then the 5W would probably be fine but I always recommend you stay with what the owner's manual specifies.
John Montgomery I live in akron ohio I got the oil from the dealer and they gave me 5w40. My car is a 2013 c300.
Perfectly acceptable. I live in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and have the same exact car. The Mercedes Specification sheet states that " Only SAE 0W-40 und SAE 5W-40 synthetic engine oils are allowed !"
JohnCanFixAnything thak you👍
JohnCanFixAnything thank you
If you got to go to RUclips to figure out how to change the oil on that car you shouldn't be changing the oil
