One thing EXTREMELY weird about him being unable to queue into any other players is that Blizzard has actually set a precedent by doing this. I do not know a single extremely popular mobile game filled with WHALES who would not be able to queue against much less powerful players. The whole point of having Whales - besides getting massively paid, that is - is that you LET them crush the poor people, as that is where they get their fucking kicks out of. Diablo Immortal set up a space for a Whale to feel powerful but they've fucked up on that crucial point - they literally did not let the guy queue against anybody, meaning he CANNOT show off his power, meaning the whole point of playing the game for him is gone, so no fucking wonder he wants to refund all of it. As sick as this sounds, Blizz shot themselves in the foot by doing this. Even if you perceive there will be a player tenths or hundreds of times stronger than 99% of the players on that same server, YOU ALWAYS LET that fucking whale queue into the highest tier of the poorest people, because otherwise what's the point?
Blizzard aren't stupid. Where's most of the money? Sure, the couple of high profile/high $ whales have a cry and get some traction, but the majority of the income is the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of players dropping $10 a week. If they have a messy code or slow processes, a full feature implementation can take 2 months easily just to imlement. Not even mentioning the delay to wait for next update release. Now if the issue is just a simple bug you can fix it in a week and then wait for next release, potentially even backporting it to some fast moving branch to integrate it as fast as possible. So the 2 week is really optimistic scenario. And many people who do games say that game development is well known for rushing and all nighters before deadlines. And specially at blizard. So I wouldn't think they have a nice codebase and smooth processes.

You can only have 100 people in a clan. When JT says it affects 300 people, its because when a clan becomes Immortal, they choose two other clans to become Immortal with them. Immortals v Shadows is an interesting little social experiment, but it also certainly is a driver for additional spending, as ranking up as a Shadow can get you +30% attack and defense permanent stat boosts while remaining a Shadow. Because of this, some Immortals feel the obligation, I imagine, to spend more money in order to hold their status/power. The only player I have seen with big wings (5k+ resonance) on my server was a guy who we battled in the Rite from the Immortal team. He got 22 kills.

We had a game mechanic like that in a MORPG called League of Angels, the game mode was called: cross server war. It would allow players from different servers to play together. It stopped working correctly, and the excuses were "there aren't enough players queing" yet even on other time-zones (more busy, with daily active players) they also couldn't. So it sounded like a PR move to say its the players fault, but the devs didn't want to do anything about it, probably because that didn't bring in as much money through in game purchases on it's own. @@x0gucx There is the aspect of his role as content creator. He invests money into the game to make unique content, so he can be rewarded for it.

The $100k investment was to create an audience and make it all back.
I have like 20gs saved up for a house and I feel rich. This guy dropped 5 times my life savings on Diablo. We deserve something worse than Covid.
Thats not a very high bar to pass there bud lol.
Problem is it only ever really affects the normal working class people. The wealthy will do just fine until the very end when it’s time we all eat them.

Literally just bought my first house. Put 100k down and I had to drop another 16k to buy out my car because the bank wouldnt lend if I had that on my credit.
I started the process of looking for a house around the time this game came out and my jaw dropped seeing how much money these people were pumping into their toons. So I know exactly how you feel especially since I compared it in the same manner you did
I was honestly curious how much more powerful a super whale is compared to other players, turns out they're not even allowed in the same cage
My exes ex drained his 401k ($50,000+) for a video game. I couldn’t believe it. I was like Jesus Christ can’t he just do cocaine like a normal person?
JT is an alcoholic who “invests” in liquor, then complains he can’t get drunk anymore and wants to refund all the booze he ever drank.
He spent this much to play the game, and achieve immortal status, as well as play battlegrounds. The game had that, as its selling point - If that proves to be impossible, Blizzard sold an incomplete / defective product, and whatever agreement that was made goes right out of the window. The customer is entitlted to a product that works as advertised. Terms of service mean jack shit.
With a 100k I could pay off my loans and still have tens of thousands of dollars left over and this dude spent it in 2 months. Damn bro that's crazy

That dude is speaking surprisingly calm for a dude who has just wasted a ton of money and is getting screwed by blizzard.. Surprisingly calm.. That is admirable
Imo it just shows how easily he can afford it. If it affected his livelihood he would not be so calm. This is also what makes it so hard to sympathise with him, when so many never see that kind of money in a whole year of wages.

I couldn't even refund $100 on a game that pulled the plug and was removed from the Play store. This guy isn't going to get a cent back.
Yeah he is because he has a financial incentive to pursue legal redress.
You probably didn't hire a $500 an hour lawyer to file a claim and hound Blizzard's corp office.
@@GeorgeMonet LMAO yeah, I'm sure this guy's $500/hr lawyer will be able to wring money out of Blizzard's literal army of lawyers. You've got to be kidding me, dude. Re: taxes. he only has to pay taxes on income. refunds on defective products aren't income. if he pays taxes quarterly as a business owner and has already filed that 100,000 as a business expense, then he may need to file an amended return though.

@0:30 People care, but this is not a game, it's a casino slot machine with a game build around it, it's gambling, it works addictive, and many gamers don't want to get up to play on a slotmachine in a casino, but now Diablo Immortal is here, it combines two things they like, gaming and gambling. The rest of us normal gamers are just left with nothing because the addicts of casino's are spending so much cash that it looks like Diablo Immortal is a very successful game, which it isn't because it's an addiction designed casino slot machine.
I've read that 43 percent of the revenue for the game came from USA so the problem is most definitely not China. the problem is that most of these dudes who gave it ine star also gave it a lot of money
The American way ! Talk shit about the "inferior" product, then turn around and buy it all up .... The freedom to be 2 faced is a heavy price of freedom ....
I had somebody admit they spent over 1k in Diablo immortal, and I immediately thought less of them as a person. @@vallejomach6721 You literally made that up. You just pulled this info completely out of your ass.
First month genshin impact made 14 million. Second was 175 million. First month diablo immortal made 50 million, over three-and-a-half times genshin on first month. It's made less than genshin on second month, sure, but calling this anything but a massive success for blizzard would be wrong.
Also, at the end of genshin impact's second month, it had 24 million installs and now only gets 4 million downloads per month with the 2nd most successful month being ~6.6 million. It takes longer to spend money in diablo immortal than genshin impact because you actually have to complete rifts. I would not be surprised to see diablo immortal dwarf genshin impact.

100k dollars is like a budget house or a mid sports car. That's a lotta money.
I give credit when its due.
Gotta give props to the developers, they know what ever happens they will earn big in this game. The streamers who spend on this game alone already made it a success

Aesop couldn’t have penned a fable more staggering than this.
He needs to spend another 100k to get un-beached lol
We had a game mechanic like that in a MORPG called League of Angels, the game mode was called: cross server war. It would allow players from different servers to play together. It stopped working correctly, and the excuses were "there aren't enough players queing" yet even on other time-zones (more busy, with daily active players) they also couldn't. So it sounded like a PR move to say its the players fault, but the devs didn't want to do anything about it, probably because that didn't bring in as much money through in game purchases on it's own. Then as the game started to die, they just made a new LoA 2, and now 3, but I quit after 1 seeing what they value, not listening to the players.
The fact that all this guy does is considered "fun" for him, amazes me. How proud he is saying "We have the whale discord..." seriously...
