I have seen both live too! For some reason the Wizzard concert was horrible. They came out unprepared and obviously had been partaking in Adult beverages (or worse). After about 30 minutes they were done.... Luckily, the supporting band was good so it wasn't a bad night. I saw the Kinks too and Ray and Dave were on top form, great concert!

This song was the first I heard from the Move back in the day and I really liked it. It must have also been one of their last before ELO was formed. They are a bunch of excellent musicians, which seemed to be par for the course in the UK in those days with so many great and innovative bands emerging all within a short period of time.

The 10538 overture for me was their finest piece in these early days though directly after when wood decided to create the electric light orchestra. Yes, the ELO project was Roy woods idea where Jeff Lynne had inherited it from to then continue with its evolving into music on a much broader spectrum and on a much wider front and audience.

Brilliant clip of one of The Move's most underrated songs. I agree with the comment below that Roy and Jeff's voices were indistinguishable at this point - in fact I never realised Jeff Lynne took the last verse until I watched this clip and I've loved this song for years. Seeing it now, you can see why they amicably parted - Lynne was young and ambitious with ideas of his own while Roy Wood was already a well established songwriter/frontman who wouldn't be handing over the reins to anyone soon. I wonder how long Bev Bevan took to make his choice when the split came? History proves that (financially at least) he made a shrewd move!

That's the road It's over there and leading down to nowhere.
This is the age when you're allowed to have your own care.
If you were half so bright you'd plan your life ahead.
Instead of waiting 'til you're old in your bed.
I'll be over tonight If you say you might
I'll be over tonight Need to put you right.
I'm so used to waiting that's entirely your decision.
Don't be restricted by the weightless views you're given.
If you were half so bright you fight them from the head.
Instead of saving 'til your young heart is dead.
I'll be over tonight If you say you might
I'll be over tonight Need to put you right.
Well I know what you wrote in your overcoat
But don't want to take it too far
Oh I think you won't but I know that you don't
You always say that you are
Never lend the riches that my endless need will give you
Show some concern for all the love that you must live through
If you were half so bright you'd plan your life ahead
Instead of waiting 'til you're old in your bed.

One of the best songs ever
And to think this was from an album session thrown together to see out a contract as The Move

Great song! Reminds me of my youth, in Gateshead, County Durham. Having said that....If my ex mother-in-law, from Grand Junction, Colorado was singing.."I'll be over tonight!" I would be taking the first stagecoach out of Dodge City.

First heard this on a Sunday whilst the Top 40 was on the radio whilst my mum did the ironing in the kitchen.
I was probably playing in the garden out the door.

A shame The Move was never successful in the USA. But ELO was huge in the states only a few years later.

MY favourite song writer his out put over the years has been phenomenal and all hits, in my eyes he’s a genius up there with Lennon and McCartney and in some cases better , there’s not one song I don’t like, my favourite album boulders, when you listen to this album you’ll realise your listening to a musical genius
