You know the sad part of it is there's so many naive people people do not see what's going on this is the end of times from the 50s up to the 90s what's pure talent do you have singers on Star search singing songs from the past no one knows how to write girl music in the groups that died from just one single album the next 6 years will be the trials of life say the world's overpopulation but I don't understand is the Bible knew what was going to happen in the end of days what is the purpose of life to suffer
Incredible with a gorgeous female vocalist to boot. Jeff's vocals are so strong on this song. I never realized he was so competent on the electric guitar. Thought he was just an acoustic rhythm player. Another great song by these guys!
ELO was finally inducted in 2016. The hall of fame has taken a long time to get around to groups like Chicago and Hall and Oates. In fact, Dhani Harrison gave the intro speech. It's on YT.
Lisa Cunningham what really sucks is that Rush was brought in... at the same time as Flava Flave... what, did they hang his giant clock next to Alex Lifeson’s guitar?
I think Jeff Lynne is such a consummate musician that being in any official "Hall of Fame" would be a bit like getting a British knighthood, i.e., a total joke. The fact that after almost 40 years, he and ELO can still fill a music venue is what counts. The late, great John Lennon politely returned his OBE to the Palace. Shame "Sir Paul" and all the other rockers didn't do the same (especially when you consider some of the OBE company they keep, i.e. Jimmy Savile, Rolf Harris) Rant over. xx
Best version of this song you will ever hear. They NAILED it ...and Rosie knew it too. Just look the expression on her face at the end. Pride and joy. Nailed it. ...and I finally know what that "bell" sound is from the drummer. A Fire Extinguisher!
@krollpeter I'm only familiar with ELO's more popular tunes so I don't really know the band. But I do know that musician leaders like Jeff Lynne will ALWAYS get the greatest musicians they can surround themselves with for live performances.. its not surprising how great they sound.
They were great MUSICALLY, yes. But as far as what was happening...Watergate, the Vietnam War and 21 percent interest rates and gas lines...not so much! We had to have drugs, sex and rock and roll just to survive.
WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN THE FIRST WORDS I TOLD WHEN HELED IN MY ARMS WERE HEY" YOU WITH THAT PRETTY FACE WELCOME TO THE HUMAN RACE 🎶 NOW 31 YEARS LATER I RECENTLY TOLD HER DANCING TO TO THIS SONG ON HER WEDDING DAY THE FIRST WORDS WERE SUNG TO HER BY THE SONG YOUR BOPING TO HOPE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE IS FILLED WITH BLUE SKY'S THX MR LYNNE 💙
It amazes me how many interations of Beatles music there's been over the years, from ELO to XTC. Still ELO's one of the best of them. Mr. Blue Sky's always been one of my favorite songs. Wish they had played the studio end here, though.
Great song, as many times as Ive seen it, Im still blown away by the woman with the long curly hair, she is absolutely beautiful....... and comes to me in my dreams..... :)
Gee, ya think? It couldn't be more of a Beatles song if Jeff put on a "mop-top" wig and played a Hofner bass. Derivative to the Nth degree, but it's still a great poppy song.
Whenever Im a little down all I have to do is turn on Jeff and ELO music, and like a magic pill Im smiling, singing and all is great in the world. Just magical music, he is a true musical genus! Not to mention his producing genus. WOW! TOP`s Simply TOP`s
Thank you Jeff Lynne for all you hard work through the years and keeping E,L.O. You made teenage life so good. thanx for the best times f my life. and thanx for this posting
@eggplant903@@ Actually, Jeff Lynne is pushing 70 and IMHO, as an old 1970s rock chick, he's a fantastic musician and music producer and ELO is one of the most enduring British rock bands ever. Oh, and by the way, 65 isn't that old ... as you will find when you get there.
Living in north Idaho this song brings the sun out even when it’s a balmy 23 degrees Fahrenheit. Had this song on 8 track tape, you youngins can google that.😀🌞🇺🇸
Great song, really thought out arrangement. It has a wonderful collage of orchestra, choir parts, counterpoint and modern touches with the vocoder. The extended ending on the studio version is just pure beauty. Speaking of beauty, the blonde girl singer is gorgeous
@@chrisnolan5607 You thought right Chris, since it's him ! Like Simon Phillips, Greg Bissonette is the perfect example of a drummer capable of playing all styles of music with the same talent...
This song has always stood out to me, way before the newish Guardians of the Galaxy movies made this song popular, but there's one specific aspect of this specific live performance that always brings a tear of awe to my eyes. The Cellos. You need a very good set of Headphones with vast Sound-Staging to eloquently hear the masterful melodic flow. It's such a beautiful sound.
If you are American you might not know the background singer, Rosie Vela. She had a massive hit in 1986 in many European countries but not in her native USA. Name of the song is Magic Smile.

Sin embargo el Cielo Azul sale, haciendo Feliz a la Gente y tambien a EL
I heard Mr. Blue Sky in 1977 or 78 ,I was 19 and painting 2 empty apts. in my Dad's 21-unit bldg.(our home) on a sunny windy afternoon in Montreal. All the windows and balconies were open. WOW!!! what was that! Could have kicked myself I never bought the double album. Spent my cash on classical and Walter Carlos records. It was a treat whenever MR. BLUE SKY came on the radio. Still had my whole life ahead of me and anything was possible. In the late '90s finally recorded it on my 2nd generation 1-lb.Sony MD recorder. Went sprinting up Victoria Av. to St.Joseph's Basilica.
RIP Richard Tandy, keyboard player for ELO. He passed away on May 1, 2024 at 76.
R.I.P. 🙏 🪦
RICHARD TANDY 😢🕊🎵🌹
Richard Tandy was a great keyboard player and vocalist for ELO. Gone too soon.
I miss Richard Tandy! He was such a part of ELO.
...welcome to the human race... pure genius
I personally think that "Someone left their life behind in a plastic bag" is ELO's greatest lyric, and perhaps one of the greatest of the decade
Incredible with a gorgeous female vocalist to boot. Jeff's vocals are so strong on this song. I never realized he was so competent on the electric guitar. Thought he was just an acoustic rhythm player. Another great song by these guys!
think they dated... Rosie Vela (american model)

Yes, for over seven years.
How is this guy not in the hall of fame.
+John Lancaster agree!
Is now :P
ELO was finally inducted in 2016. The hall of fame has taken a long time to get around to groups like Chicago and Hall and Oates. In fact, Dhani Harrison gave the intro speech. It's on YT.
Lisa Cunningham what really sucks is that Rush was brought in... at the same time as Flava Flave... what, did they hang his giant clock next to Alex Lifeson’s guitar?
And how not in the hall of holy gods
this is the best version of the song on RUclips. They play much tighter than the album recording, and his voice is better than the later recordings
oh, I get tears when I hear this song --- 70's what a time to be alive. What a voice!
I still come back just to remember the ride. It was a beautiful place then.
oh yes
check out The Move , a band where it all began
Rosie vela the goddess with curly blond hair and golden voice😎
😍
I'm just still trying to wrap my head around why Jeff is not in the HOF.... The fuck, music industry is so corrupt to not allow this legend in there!
really? How come Jeff Lynne is not in HOF? Who is in charge, reggeton fans?
I think Jeff Lynne is such a consummate musician that being in any official "Hall of Fame" would be a bit like getting a British knighthood, i.e., a total joke. 'salright, a rant well put! Those folks are nice and warm and toasty, right where they belong!
HOF is a privately owned business , and the owner can do as he pleases about who is in and who is not in.
Rosie Vela, What a knockout!!!!!!
+sallymaggiespotty And nearly 50 in this video.
Not just good genes. Eating right and exercising will get you far. And no damn smoking!
What a backing singer!!! What a cool dancer!!! So switched on.
as much as I love Mr Lynne, he's punching here.
I'm sure everyone knows her story by now. On this song especially, looked like she was having the time of her life. Great to see it.
This is my favorite lineup for ELO, and this concert is a classic.
👍👍👍
Best version of this song you will ever hear.
They NAILED it ...and Rosie knew it too. Just look the expression on her face at the end.
Pride and joy. Nailed it.
...and I finally know what that "bell" sound is from the drummer. A Fire Extinguisher!
I don't know what was overdubbed ... but sound, vocals and playing are all near perfect here.
@krollpeter I'm only familiar with ELO's more popular tunes so I don't really know the band. But I do know that musician leaders like Jeff Lynne will ALWAYS get the greatest musicians they can surround themselves with for live performances.. its not surprising how great they sound.
That's the best comment I have heard lately - and you've got the best moniker. Genius!
He does he asked me to play sax for him great honor
Rosie is good here!
Rosie makes my knees weak......my god she is beautiful...
The 70s were great. Im so glad I got to experience it. ELO was one of the greatest groups from the 70s.
+Susannah Hayward; I have not mastered the ability to post songs. Im an end user, please keep posting. I love the 70s
+Susannah Hayward, now I understand what you mean. I do remember seeing that. It's becoming a Google, Microsoft and Apple world. Your son is correct.
Actually, Google DOES own RUclips. They bought the company on Nov 13, 2006
unfortunately we dont have that kind of music in 2016.....oldies will always be the best forever

Great song. And Rosie Vela is gorgeous in voice and form.
I often wonder how on earth someone can write something as brilliant as this Jeff Lynn what a talent.
14 times on the cover of VOGUE, her own albums and Rosie standing with Jeff--IT DONT GET BETTER THAN THAT!
No, it doesn't, Ray, and you can see the joy in her face!
Excellently! Who could think that this song can be sung alive.
Превосходно! Кто бы мог подумать, что эту песню можно исполнить вживую.
That girl is the most beautiful thing I've ever laid eyes on
Her name is Rosie Vela, she was a famous model in the eighties, then she made a hit with a song called "Magic smile".
Thats Rosie Vela she about 66 years old.
This is one of Rosie Vela's greatest contributions to ELO. ❤️🌹💗
Yes, indeed! Love her voice, quite a lady.
This song always reminded me of Beatle songs

Daniel Mihaliak Apparently, Macca once said he wished he had written Blue Sky.
vcp93 I beg to differ. Great tune that stands on its own; not every good tune is a Beatle copy.
Amazing so many seem to not know this.......Lennon praised ELO as "Sons of the Beatles"...
