- In this weeks episode we meet an inspiring couple who have built the most beautiful tiny home for themselves. After spending years living overseas, Kate and Benoît made the decision to return to New Zealand to build their dream small home.
Working together, they constructed a home which is artful and astoundingly beautiful. Amazingly, thanks to thrifty material sourcing and their DIY attitude, the home was completed significantly under-budget!
With the home now finished, Benoît and Kate can enjoy the fruits of their labour and a slower, simpler way of life. Tending to their gardens and spending time in nature, traveling and doing the things they love.

They are such a positive and capable couple who aren’t afraid to get stuck in and give something a go! I absolutely love tinys that are lower budget ,salvaged materials, Homes like these show that quality does not need to be sacrificed to build a beautiful , affordable dwelling. Well done guys! Fabulous work of art !
The woodwork in this home is absolutely gorgeous! Very meticulously done! And better still that family helped, which means so much more. I could see this couple adding a roof over that front deck and making that into an outdoor living room. One of your previous videos had a woman who did that and it was very beautiful. Hope you revisit Kate and Benoit in the future - I'd like to see how they've improved their garden.
Beautiful home for this talented young couple. Couldn’t live with the “ couch “ setup but hey, they’re young and fit and have a lovely outdoor space. Wishing them very many happy years together.
Yeah, i would barely fit as one person. A 2 person chair might have been more cozy. Well, it is for them not me. Pretty cool house.
This couple's eye for aesthetics and color palette is incredible! From the home to the tiniest details - the drawers, the jewelry stand and even the mugs, cutting board, kettles ... All stunning and aesthetically pleasing choices. And the framed drawings on the wall are lovely and whimsical. What a charming space!
Kate and Benoit have done a beautiful job, the stairs to bedroom a work of art. I like the size of the kitchen and bathroom, the mosquito net in bedroom, and can see that they can make an outdoor loving room on their deck if they put a roof over it. One of the nicest I have ever seen.

Proof that salvaging and upcycling can be just as good quality or better than prefabricated or new. Definitely worth taking your time to select what you really want for your build. A house should be yours not a market game.

Ve watching young people building their own houses. The whole process must empower them in so many ways I can't even imagine I guess, being 46 years old. I come from another generation, mindset... We were brought up to be a part of the grinder but I have hope for future generations changing the way we live 🙏🙏🙏🙏

What a gorgeous young couple. I love their home. It's a very good layout, works well. I'd personally choose different colours and would have made a proper lounge, but I'm not young and slim and fit like her anymore! 😂 I'm guessing New Zealand weather is pretty gorgeous most of the year anyway right? So outdoor seating makes up for the lack of lounge. I love their home, but I especially love them! Lovely couple. I wish them a lifetime of happiness and love. ❤

This is a couple after my own heart, as much as I love a lot of features in tiny houses I don’t love the price tags that come along with them and growing up in my parents 1880’s era home I’ve always dreamt of using as many old reclaimed/recycled materials as possible in my future THOW and doing as much as I can myself as possible in addition to making it off grid because I want to enjoy life and spend money on things that matter without being in debt to pay for them so DIY is a great way to achieve that!

The craftsmanship is absolutely gorgeous....love the bathroom...surprised me when I saw the closet and washer... I would like a slightly bigger sofa....the drawers in the stairs were huge...the craftsmanship on the stairs amazing 👏.... awesome couple they are...❤..lots of luck
Salvaged wood and materials show more beauty and character than the new match box homes put in in Wanaka & Hawea. Great work to them and their future together.
The wood work in this home was some of the best I've seen on any tiny house. The kitchen, bath, bedroom and outside space are just incredible. I couldn't ask for more! The couch area would be the one that I'd change up a bit for more comfort. Small is fine, but I'd want a cushioned back to my lounge area! Between all of the other perfect areas, the craftsmanship, the high quality materials and the very affordable build price, this is one of my favorite tiny homes I've seen! ❤
