- This is a van-life story unlike anything you’ve seen before. Floyd is a man, living and traveling in a small van while on a huge mission to put a smile on peoples faces.
Currently, he is traveling all over New Zealand in a spectacular van that he has built out for both his work and travels. The van is compact yet fully featured and filled with incredible wood-craft and carvings which absolutely make his van stand out from the rest.
Floyd’s van is fitted out with his wood turning tools, which he uses while he travels to craft beautiful art peaces, that he then leaves hidden in special places for strangers to find, all with the purpose of helping to brighten someone’s day while also raising money for a mental health charity, Gumboot Friday, a New Zealand charity that helps to provide free counselling for youth. Wow. I literally have tears running down my face right now. Floyd is obviously such a good, old soul - and a truly special artist! What a spectacular mission he is on, too! If you've ever lost a kid to depression, you will understand how meaningful it is for Floyd to be out there doing what he does. Thank you, Floyd!!
Yeah, I lost my next-youngest brother when he was 16 and I was 18. I really felt Floyd's self-awareness and his determination to help teach that it really is true that until we're 25, most of us don't have a very good handle on management of our mental health. It's a developmental thing. This was wonderful to watch.

What a lovely man,I struggle with my Mental Health have done for years,I’m a Florist by trade but just do it as a hobby now and I get more joy by making a floral arrangement and gifting it to someone rather than making money from it I would like to teach kids in schools or after school clubs if there was an interest as I know creating a piece of Floral art can be healing and just makes you feel good when you Create something even with limited amounts of flowers and foliage 🌷🌱

Charities like Gumboot Friday have an amazing cause. From my xp: to anyone who's ever been a victim of hate / violence because of their appearance, gender, orientation, race : DO NOT ever let a hateful notion 'there's something wrong with me' sink in. Trust me, it's a recipe for self hatred and compulsive anxieties later on. When we suffer and we need a break, it's only natural to think: maybe if I wasn't 'different', if I was 'normal' I would be accepted. No, haters will always find something else to prey upon. I've always had kinda androgynous look, which was a fuel for bullies when I was growing up. I embraced it, used it to my advantage in my acting / modeling career, I was almost the face of Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)

Floyd’s Work is Amazing all around ! I love his mission and His Philosophy of Living… I wish him Peace, Love and Light ! He certainly brings it to others in Full Measure. I also love his beautiful dog as well, it is always nice to have such a loyal companion with him in life.
Floyd's van is a work of art all by itself! I love the way he's made it his mission to put smiles on people's faces and support mental health. You can tell he's a nice guy just by the way his dog reacts to him. I also "get" the lathe thing. Years ago I had access to a lathe and found it to be a very "Zen" kind of thing when I created stuff on it. Using a lathe outdoors also means you don't have to clean up a shop (the wood dust and shavings can just go back into the environment).

This is one of the best van builds I have seen. The talent Floyd has and the amazing work that he has put into the van is beautiful all the detail of his overhead cupboard doors,the ceiling and the carved patterns in the wood are lovely.
