Tables are practical for eating, work, writing, drawing etc. even more importantly, they allow convivial sharing of food and conversation. I hate eating off my knee. I can never understand how so many tiny houses have couches/ sofas but their owners perch at breakfast bars or fold down tables. I personally always choose dining table over sofa.
