very informative, thank you -- I want to clean up the top surface area of my black Mk2 -- any suggestions would be appreciated. It's actually not that dirty, but the black color is a bit faded, and I'm wondering if there's a way to restore the original black surface color
Looked far too light until the black pieces went on and then it brought it back down again - great job. Was it powder coated or just painted? Do you have a list of what bits were swapped for new etc?
Good question. I am about to do mine. My plinth isn't as damaged as this. I was going to to plasti dip. Ideally I'd be doing cerakote or powder coat but wanted something more forgiving in case I mess it up.
Impressive job, the result looks great! By the way, I think the MK2s were the first turntables which get the nickname "Wheels of Steel"? While watching your video it came into my mind how legendary the 1210 series was and still is. I've heard that the new models never got that good as the MK2 were. All the best :-)!
Great. I have pair of 1210mk2 but I see there is a problem with arms - these are really not straight. Dunno is it cases fail or something? They played fine, but I hate to see not straight arms ...
Nice video it’s really enjoying see the table come to live. What did you use to shine the platter? Do you know any solution for small scratches? Thanks!
I still have a Technics turntable model SL-QD 33. It still works like brand spanking new. Really like my turntable but now wonder if a stylus is available for it?
Of course, you can buy a proper one, but maybe expensive. Audio-Technica and Ortofon has a large variety of quality turntable needles. You have to prefer the Moving Magnet needles (MM), insted of Moving Coil needles (MC). They are not so perfect as the moving coils, but very frequent, and the MC is for the very high-end class.
Hi Steve, I removed the scratches from my SL-1200 MD3 lid using Meguiar’s Scratch X like breakerbroke23 did on a Denon DP 26F lid as shown in his vid: ruclips.net/video/K9egMgDI4iw/видео.html I followed the steps exactly as demonstrated and the results were fantastic! Take care, Cal
@@michaelsmith-lb6td Hi Michael, Thanks for pointing out the lack of clarity in my comment; I have since edited it (hopefully for the better). Take care, Cal
I wouldn`t do that this way. The colour you used for repainting the upper part of a plinth is far away from original, the end result is that it looks more plasticky at the end, you think that you see chinese Audio-technika AT-LP120. Also washing the platter is a bad idea.
can I ask whether you used paint remover? Also did you do sanding with grinder? In order to repaint what primer and dye did you use? your feedback would be appreciated

Brings tears to my eyes to see it restored.
It was heartwarming to see the level of and attention to detail that you performed on that beautiful classic turntable.Very well done!
Always good to see that people still care about his Retro stuff, Well done!
Thank You!
Two things will survive a nuclear winter - cockroaches and Technics 1200s.

What color did you use? AFAIK is classic silver, nice job. But I wish you'LD share what color did you use.
What is that blue spray gun you are using? And what where do I get one?
It's a powder coating gun. You then bake the TT
Hi Andras. What kind of cartridge / stylus did you install? Any chance you can send a link to ones that fit this model?

You are looking at £400 minimum and that would be a model that has been around the block many times.

why would washing the platter be bad? you know its all metal right? also it is not gonna rust.

It's not a full restoration, the tone arm and bearings were never checked or cleaned.
