    I feel the exact same way, I recently quit my job in the landscape architecture industry. I felt like it was eating away at my soul. No room for real creativity or even human connection. The stress and pressure of billing hours allowed no room for interpersonal relations and the back and forth changes between civil and architects created a bunch of extra unncessary work that added stress for us to keep up and follow all sorts of policies/city standards etc. Sadly I wanted it to work out for me as a pleasurable career field but still I feel so disappointed that it did not. I don't think I could have stayed any longer, I did it for 1 year and I was miserable.

I will be an account manager, so I'll get to be out in the field making sure that I'm taking care of property managers needs in regards to their landscape. I expect to be in charge of scheduling maintenance crews and consulting for plant disease/pest management programs along with some creative landscape design/solutions. I will be working mainly on HOA's and commercial properties. It's a complete 180 from the professional/corporate office job..., I just couldn't do it.

    • @rwrightson1
      @rwrightson1 Месяц назад

      @@sharedlearnings5243 Sure. As-builts are what an architect or designer needs in order to do their job. They hire me to go and measure a house or building or retail space using a laser and tape measure. I put the measurements in AutoCAD and then deliver the drawings to the architect. I started out just doing floor plans for real estate agents and eventually began working with architects and developers providing full architectural sets of plans, exterior elevations, sections, site plans, reflected ceiling plans, roof plans, etc. I've been doing it for about 12 years and have a client list of about 6-7 architects who use my services regularly.

    I finished studies in October 2023 and I'm planning on continuing an Architecture career because I knew what it was from the day one, but I am also interested in other fields of work too. I would want to be a jewelry designer and an architect, but I haven't found any good example as to how to manage both of them and, in some near (or far) future - maybe merge those two. Both are in the design industry, but are very different as well. But I feel like it's doable.

    • @HannahKuha-gf3ey
      @HannahKuha-gf3ey 4 месяца назад

      The difference between architecture and engineering is that architecture is the more creative and design part of the job and how it looks. The engineer is the math and science behind it making sure it's stable or not etc.
      Architect's: dreamers
      Engineer's: realist

      Both. At least from where I'm located, you would need a Bachelor's degree to get into Master's of Architecture program. So Bachelor's in Engineering first then apply to Architecture school.
      In that way, you can always transition careers in the future or decide which one is really right for you. No regrets or what ifs in the end.

      Hey! We would like to respectfully disagree here. We mean, if you're talking personalities, it might be subject to one's opinion. We feel the profession is very cool and in fact, will be one of the key driving forces in shaping the new world. While we maneuver through pressing issues such as climate change, a very recent and grim pandemic outbreak, migration etc., architects stand at the core of decision making internationally.
      Also, what would be interesting to witness is how we tackle innovative concepts such as interplanetary habitation, hyperloops and metaverse architecture. We hope this excites you as much as it does us!
