    Honestly, I couldn't think of anybody who could explain this better than you! I work in the field of speech and am simply amazed at how fluently you speak and - most importantly - how good you are at making things clear and understandable - especially for someone like me, who has just developed an interest in the whole gel-nail-topic. I absolutely applaud you, please keep doing what you do ! PS.: How on earth do you manage to keep the editing on a minimum, that is just astounding!! haha I'm really impressed - can you tell?!😉🙈💗

    This has been sooo helpful. Since I'm a DIY'r I really didn't understand the difference between the primer and bonder. Also the primer I've been using is acid based and I only know that now by the odor you described and I've been using way too much. I use the MG system (a friend orders it for me) and they really don't tell you much about how to use their products. Once again thank you so much for sharing your time and knowledge. Linda

    • @TotalDentalNerd
      @TotalDentalNerd 5 лет назад +5

      Hi! Acid primer is good, the things it does to the nail plate are on a microscopic level. So as long as you are using it properly, you should be fine. I think we all tend to slap on primer like crazy when we first start out.. lol.. glad she helped you . Like I mentioned the acid primer is etching the nail plate on a microscopic level. And there's nothing wrong with it if you're using it properly.. but if you decide you want to switch over to a non acid primer I really like Young Nails protein bond. You can get it on Amazon even if u aren't lisenced. If ur friend is lisenced she can probably get it cheaper at the young Nails website. Though there are other great non acid primers out there, that's my favorite out of the several I've tried. .. that what works best for me. I rarely have to use acid primer anymore. I keep it in case I have one of those problem lifter clients. And then I use both, but that's a different story for another day. 😀

    I am not a professional. I began painting my Mom and her friend’s gel nails at assisted living, then my friends wanted me to do theirs.
    I did purchase protein bond and ph bond by Gelish to use on my friends nails. Two of their paint keeps chipping within 7 days.
    The products only had the instructions on the bottle. I knew if I looked up the topic, you would have a video sharing your expertise. As a result, I will not be using these product at all, unless I cap the corner of the most chipped tip with the pro bond.
    I was going to study before I used them anyway. You always make it so easy.
    I watched your painting your husbands gel nails from start to finish many times. My friend, family and I really enjoy the time together... man am I slow!

    Thank you for the vid! I used to be a serial lifter. No matter what I did, my main fingers - poiter, middle and thumbs - would always lift and develop greenies 😷🤢. My prep did need improving but once I knew I was on point but still lifting, I started priming with NSI pro bond. I used it while I was still delusional with acrylic and after I found my lord and saviour, the Gel. But after the acid primer my lifting disappeared 😀😀😀! My right middle finger is still a little stubborn but in no way compares to the hell I went through until I switched to acid primer. I use it extremely sparingly and then use a basecoat. Nevever multiple layers. Your video gave me peace that I'm doing the right thing. Wish I knew about the antacid trick though.... My bottle fell and I lost 80% of it to the floor 😭😭😭😭. But since I'm a DIYer and use so little, I know it'll last a looong time still.

She can peel it off in a day, and I always wonder why... Now I know. I used PHBond by BondAid.. but it did nothing... So thanks for this video. I'm an esthetchian so I can get some pretty good things locally at CosmoProf. I appreciate this. Alot. Edit: I don't need anything but PhBond, or the base gel that comes with the set. Except, sometimes on my harder working nails... I'll need to use both. Depending on product though.

    I just wanted to clairify.. acid primer etches the nail plate on a microscopic level.. it sounds a little more scary if you don't realize that.. yes it still is corrosive and all those things.. I was just thinking if you knew nothing about it and heard words like corrosive and eats away, and makes pits in the nail plate... You might Envision large amounts of damage.. it's on a microscopic level and it's similar to the blue etch that is used in dentistry to prime your tooth for the bonding.. at least that's how I understand it as I was a dental assistant first and then a nail tech.. 😀

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  5 лет назад +17

      Yes that is exactly correct, but the issue we have in the nail industry is the misuse of this product and it can create severe burns on the skin and also allergies. That's why I wanted to demonstrate how it works and discuss the differences so nail techs understand that all of these chemicals should be used responsibly.

      yeah, its good to drill it in the head to the people that didnt go to school about the dangers it can cause. I learned the hard way xD many many years ago. The crazy thing I hurt more when I go into the salon then when I do them myself...they always burn me w the primer because it seeps into the filed skin by the cuticles. xD xD

    Amazing information, Liz! So, when you indicate that usage of a non-acid primer can make gel polish more difficult to soak off, can you explain in what way (longer soak off time, or filing required?) And, can you offer a suggestion on how to best remove gel polish that is over a non-acid primer?

      It really adheres the gel to the nail so soak off time will be extended. My suggestion is make sure you break through not only the top coat but expose some of the base coat so the acetone can truly penetrate the nail.

    I have been having lifting issues with immaculate prep and application.. Found out that my career as a dog groomer is the issue. My hands are in water a lot of the time. I'm gonna try acid primer and see if that gives me less lifting. I'm sure one would say just don't wear extensions, but for me, the short nail extensions keep hair splinters from getting embedded under my nail beds. So it's a protective thing, not just cosmetic. Maybe I'll just have to wear gloves again where I can.
    Thanks for showing me how to apply acid primer correctly and sparingly.

    Beautiful!
    So can one use primer without having to file/buff the nail surface? Since the acid primer does that already?

    Heloo dear, amazingly educative tutorial, you are awesome. thank you for this. Someone professional on RUclips said alcohol is a good dehydrator and I have said many people say this but you suggested acetone. So I don't know which would end up being appropriate.

      She suggested in other videos to mix like about 90 % or so alcohol and the 10 % of pure acetone. I'd recommend to watch her other video about cleaning the nails
