“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.

I’m self taught and I always wondered why the sanding band always cut me!! I’m going to try seasoning(?) it next time! Thank you!
Welcome!
@@youngnailsinc what does seasoning mean????
@@netapp5486 what she did at 1:22
I saw what she did at 1:22 but can someone explain. I wouldn't want to try on myself and not do it right
@@ele0413 she sanded the edges of the file to remove any sharp edge that may cut you during filing
I just want to thank The Young Nails team for helping our new students, it helps me a lot to watch and learn. You guys ROCK
Ok so I’m 13 I want to do nails when I get older so i want to start young and I’m going to ask for nail kit for Christmas and I’m going to practice so this is a good video to learn from thx.

I’m a nail tech student. I love everything in this video! This is what I struggle with on a daily basis. Because of my insecurities I’m scared of working on people I don’t know. Thank you! You all are the best! #TeamYN
❤️❤️
Baby girl you will get use to the people it will be nothing focus on they don't really know what you know it was you that went to school that's what I did 27 years ago it works try it have confidence and remember it is what you wanted to do love luv❤
Tina Lynch Thank you! You’re words mean allot! And I do love doing nails. I work hard everyday to perfect my skill. 💕
never thought of seasoning the band first. great tip now i wont be so scared of filing my own cuticle area with it!
❤️❤️
#teamyn
I was guilty of that way of filing. Glad you broke it down as too why I would always have the lil gap there 😔. Practice Practice Practice
Happy this helped
#1 is my biggest problem, I’m so terrified of cutting someone. Great tip about seasoning the sanding band first to help take away some of that fear. Thanks so much!!!!
Yep
What do you mean by seasoning?
Giebbie Serah that’s the term for running the edges of a new file against another to take away the sharpness so that when it’s time to use the file near the cuticle, there’s less of a chance of cutting the client🙂
@@KayFox08 thankyou so much normally my clients get split cuticles now i know why
you have to take something like ather miling cuter for cuticle away
Tracy, you're so calm and clear in your explanations. You're a balm for the soul and make it so easy to understand everything. Thank you!
Happy you are enjoying it
This helped so much, I make that filing mistake and cannot wait to correct it. I beat myself up so much when I fail myself or something doesn’t turn out the way I envisioned but that message at the end helped a lot.
Happy it helped
The close-ups are needed- love to see it through the lens of Mrs. Tracey 💙
Nice
Alex Young I agree! #TEAMYN
I'm a hair stylist by trade so started watching these tutorials only to do my own gel nails but the more I learn, the more I'm tempted to do a course to do nails as well as hair, thankyou so much for sharing this knowledge for free.
Happy you are enjoying it
Hi Midge kg, I was a hair stylist by trade, but did manicure as well when training. I never did nail extensions when doing manicure. I did a nail tech course & wish I'd done it years ago. Go for it! These guys have taught me thing's I didn't learn on my course, they're the best. 😊💖💅🍀
Me too, certified hair stylist but self taught nail technician
@@giebbieserah4440 I really enjoyed doing my nail tech course, but they only teach you the basics. They don't go into detail like these guys do. I still do a little bit of hair cutting, but I prefer to do nails now. 😊💅💖
Thank you Tracey this is a great help!! You are absolutely right about the basics you need to find a group of people like you to learn more and more. I've been a hairdresser for 43 years and now doing nails because I have learned so much from watching your videos and trying your products. I can't say enough how you and the team have help me!! Love it and Thank you again!
So happy you enjoyed this video
Shid I ain’t scared of the cuticle

That’s the easiest part for me 🤦♀️ using that file.
that made me laugh omg
Tracey, I cannot thank you enough for this super helpful video. I'm just getting started and these are ALL my weaknesses. You are wonderful!!! 👏🏼👏🏻👏🏿👏🏽👏🏾💜💜💜
I’m literally looking at my lifted acrylic nail and I see that notch that I’ve created by filing sideways and not straight🤦🏻♀️. I honestly needed this video so much 🙌🏼
Happy to help
I was terrified of cutting people. So I decided to do Russian manicure style instead. I get the job done without cutting and tearing up the natural nail.
My thing was forcing myself to do only what I saw other pros doing instead of what worked for me. Thinking there was only way to do it right and do it well. My advice to my novice self: try other methods. See what works for you. Fail a few times. Reach perfection in its time.
Solid advice
Wow that sounds interesting. What is the Russian manicure style?
Latoya Comer
There are a lot of videos that show what the Russian manicure is but you might like to watch this video.

Hahaha now I wanna draw on my clients nails so I can make sure I dont miss anything by the cuticle lol thanks for sharing guys 😊😊
lol welcome
Victoria Thomascik right!? Got me second guessing
🤣🤣🤣
You can if you use a water soluable marker. Sewers and those that do various needlework use them. Amazon, JoAnne Crafts, Micheals Crafts.
Same😂💜
Wow I am extremely excited I found your channel I am learning so much and I'm feeling much more confident...
Jus getting started and my sister is gonna love me for this!! No more slit cuticles for her🥶.... THANK U🤗
❤️❤️
I self taught myself and feel I do pretty good but this giveaway!!! Mind blown! I always watch your videos and try my best to keep learning. I LOVE LOVE all your videos!
I’ve seen the mistakes I make in you video. Now I can practice a bit more with confidence. Thank you so much.Axx
I'm so glad!
My gosh, that last min of the video was beautiful!, I’m new, so I really appreciate that! Thank you for reminding me!
Wow I never knew I could season the sanding band! Thanks so much for the tip. I’m excited to try it on myself first.
You are so welcome!
You're an excellent teacher!
Advising people to not fear failure is sage advice. 👍
Thank you!
I absolutely love this video!! Starting out again after 24 years is very intimidating. And especially starting my own business renting a station and being the sole technician. All of your videos and demonstrations have really helped my fears and caught me up on all the new trends. Thank You
Happy you are enjoying the content
Good luck to you!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😘
Melissa, Good luck with your new venture starting out again. Best wishes, Sioux. 🍀💅🤞💖😊
You are bume
Am learning how to do my own nails and this one is so helpful. I see already how I made the mistake in failing that a created a notch on my nail. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you Tracy for touching on these mistakes, I found them very useful, hope you plan on more of this type of video's for us. Thank you once again.😊💖💅
Welcome
Thank you Tracey! Your last bit of advice was the best advice for me. ❤️💓💅
Thank you Tracey, I agree with everything you said, so true, I see my weakness at the straight side wall & cuticle area, you explained it very well. 💥♥️
Nice happy you enjoyed the video
You are such a great teacher .... im just starting to do nails .. on myself I didnt go to school but your advise in the end was so amazing even if u aren't doing nails it was great advise for any career.
I'm so glad it helped!!
You guys are great educators.
Awesome tips and tutorials . Love them learn new stuff everyday. And I like that different techniques different approaches. Are you guys are awesome
Thank you
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Tracey for doing this video. You can not understand how MUCH this video has helped me. I really wanted to go to school for nail tech, but never felt confident enough to even try. Automatically thinking I would fail, or never be good enough, I never gave this a real shot. I'm so much more relaxed about it an now i can't wait to enroll asap 😀 THANK YOOOOOOOOOOU an wish me luck 🤞🤞
#TEAMYN
I'm going to have to try that marker trick. I love how you guys break down every step. It's amazing cause there isn't any nail classes to retake or anything here in Indiana. Your videos help me so much in my nail career! 😁
Happy to hear they helped
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the informative and to the point video. I've done 3 sets of acrylic nails now, 2 on myself and one on my mum and I've been beating myself up that they don't look perfect or I've lost a nail. Watching videos like yours is very encouraging and I can see where I'm going wrong. I feel I'll have a little more confidence next time thanks to the seasoning the sanding band tip! (Never would have thought of that) I was feeling a little discouraged but I can't wait to get back into it now. All of us as beginners should cut ourselves some slack - we're learning!
For sure
So helpful to beginners 👍
❤️❤️
Expect I don’t understand anyy of these “seasoning” and “lifting” type words some people are literally just trying to start
I just learned so much! Thank you all so much
I'm always cautious to not cut someone but once in a while it happens lucky my clients are understanding and I always apologize. #teamyn
For sure
Id rather get cut and have a flush application to the cuticle. I hate when nails look grown out when theyre brand new. Ive been doing my own for a year and love it. Im soooo picky and can spend hours on my nails. I struggle with making a gel base on a nail form. Love how clear gel is.
This is an excellent video!
I hope all nail professionals, teachers, and students watch this video!
This should be used as an assignment in school for students to watch and discuss.
I've learned more from this channel and another one than I ever did in school.
I wish that I found these video tutorials much sooner.
Thank you for the great videos!
I'm guilty of all 5 and MORE!! LOL
I'm still learning and never like my set of nails (yet)!
thank you!
Most welcome.
Y'all are awesome!
I pull my skin back by placing my finger on the table firmly and gently moving it to whatever side i need exposed ! It helps so much !🤗💕
That's a great idea!
Great video Tracy. The cuticle marker idea is great
❤️❤️
Thank you. I believe we need to learn everyday. As we know, "practice and knowledge make a master in any field".#teamyn
For sure
You are an awesome teacher - these tips were magic
❤️❤️
Awesome video!! ❤❤ Quick question: when your filing the cuticle area after application, I've found I can actually file the area too much and suddenly I'm seeing little lifting spots and if I'm not careful I'll end up chasing it down the nail with the file. I swear in some nail videos it looks like the tech is filing the shat out of the cuticle to get it flush and it doesnt happen to them. What am I doing wrong here? Am I holding my file wrong or am I just simply over filing?
Pink Nail Fairy I get the same problem when doing fills, I try filling the lifted area near the cuticle and notice I have to take down more and more
Over filing, we actually have a video that breaks some of this down check out our lifting videos
It could be because you are adding too much product at the cuticle which will cause lifting and that adds to the more filling=lifting problem.
Than you very much for your work on those videos, I didn' realise how many mistakes I have
been making, until I found your channel! Thanks a lot!
BTW I love your hoodie
#2 is a lot of my problems I think 😢 Even though I've watched soooo many videos on the forms and how to use them, I still dont think I place them right and when I do the acrylic I have to watch the corners lol.
#4 fileing is also an issue for me. Filing in the corners lol. I have issues I have to work on with the week spot with lifting and not so much the nail prep.
Thanks for the GREAT tips to help 👍😘💜 #teamyn
Happy you enjoyed it
Thank you for all your tutorials, I’ve watch as many as I can find (about 25) love them all, so helpful. Took me 4 hours to do my own nail this afternoon, I was very happy with them, than you again ♥️♥️♥️
You are so welcome!
So helpful! can we bring back the how much episodes?!!!
More videos coming daily
Yeah, I miss those videos... my favorite ones of all YN videos. 🤗❤💅
This is one of the BEST tutorials I've seen you put out! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You're so right about creating that notch with filing and sculpting. I just wish you had spent just a little more time with showing and explaining how exactly to file the sidewalls properly because some of those incorrect file positions looked so similar to the correct position. I will watch again to make sure I get it right though. Thanks! #TeamYN #Jamaica
Happy the video helped
Really gave me some hope, and I liked how you spoke about being a beginner as if you were still a beginner. I notice that I make a lot of these mistakes specially not knowing how to file properly. Thank you☺️
Welcome!
Guility of the filing🤦🏿♀️ i actually pulled my file out and practiced lol... tfs
#teamyn
lol nice

I’m new-ish to learning about nails. I have never been to school for it, but I have watched literally hundreds of videos on RUclips. I have spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on nail products to teach myself. Although I know I cannot work in a salon until I do go to school, I want to learn all I can. This has been one of the most helpful videos! Thank you so much!
So happy you are enjoying it
