  • The Mascon Magic Mobile Tool Cart - a behind the scenes look at the tool cart I use every day, and all of the leather craft tools I use most often.
    ------
    I'm asked nearly every day, "Can you show me your tool cart?" and "What tool do you use for _____?". I try as best as I can to reply to all comments and questions. However, this was good way to answer everyone at once.
    My setup has evolved over many years. And it continues to evolve daily (I made another change yesterday). It's not aesthetically please, by any means. But it's extremely functional and efficient.
    I also prefer, when possible, to "use what you have". Like pressure treaded 4x4's and cherry logs for tool racks. I also prefer to modify my tools to fit my needs, rather than me having to adjust to them. I acquire tools to "use", not to "look at". This is also the reason my son started making a lot of the tools I use (as seen in the video). I have specific specs in mind for certain tools. Specs that simply aren't available in the market. So, why not make them yourself?
    That's a perfect segway into the "Mascon & ZeeBee Tools". We both had certain demands from the tools we used. The market was not meeting those demands. So we decided to make a difference, and create the tools we wanted. Now they're available to the public, as well!
    Thanks for watching, and please consider subscribing, if you haven't already!

I won't mention the hair piece in the window ... mum's the word ... lol ...

    I appreciate you sharing your shop tips. I used a "el cheapo" roller tool chest I bought at a flea market. That is until today. I just received my rolling tool cart that you recommended. Build starts later today. Amazon should give you a royalty for recommending this cart! Anyway, keep up the good work.

    Thank you for doing this. I have an old Gerber(USA) MP400 multitool, but the metal is too soft to do any real work(I dented the wire cutters by clipping guitar strings). So I challenged it(and myself) for its final task, to create its own sheath to preserve it, using ONLY the multitool. I successfully made one out of an old belt and screw rivets. A bit crude, but effective. Turns out, I had a great time doing it. Now I need a passport wallet to also accomodate an international drivers license. Since I can't find one, I think it would make a great second leather project. Your videos are an awesome resource for info, ideas, techniques, and implementations. Cool style too! Time for me to get some decent tools. Subscribed.

    Hey just wondering what kind of glue do you use? I use the standard clear contact cement you buy in the tins at the Home Depot etc but I’ve been having issues with it not sticking well or having a very visible seam between the edges even when I sand because it doesn’t seem to set up right. I think it’s because when I’m doing larger objects like a belt with a backing strip and such that it takes so long to apply that stuff with the little brush that comes with the can to such a large area that I’m not sure if my one half is already too dry to cure right by the time I finish the second half lol that glue pot set up you use with whatever glue you use seems like it would be quicker.

    I did think you were going to say you used the other use for the turkey Baster was artificial insemination when you whipped that bad boy out. 17:00 I do hope you see this as you are an old fart like me, at first when I saw your shows I thought he must be a younger dude with your choice of booze and your general attitude. Then I fell over an interview you had done at some point explaining how you got started in Leathercraft. I was so surprised to see this old fart in a pair of sheepskin slippers making these amazing leather wallets. Brother, it made me so happy and strengthened my resolve to get my finger out of my arse and get making. Hopefully, before I'm too old keep it up, I'm talking about the rivet setter here, well hopefully I could manage to attain a fraction of your skills and make something I would be proud to put my name on. If I can't I'm just going to buy your work and change the maker's name, bugger, I would still need to be able to keep the tool up, I mean the stamping tool and I hope I will still be able to swing a maul. All the very best from Scotland and I would never plagiarise your work. I'm still trying to find you somewhere I can have a proper conversation with you as not only am I a fan of your work and that includes the editing and camera work you do, we are about the same age I think and you gravitated towards leatherwork and I'm about to but both of us for similar reasons, I would like to thank you for showing it can be done, I doubt I will get anywhere near your skill level but I need to try. Again all the very best from Scotland.

    Son-of-a-bitch, a cart! Why didn’t I think of that, I’ll be 72 in three weeks and this vid changed the way I store my tools. I’ve been using the hanging on the wall (easy to spot, but you have to get up to pick them off the wall), l also use the wooden blocks that clutter up my bench deal. That “old dog new tricks” BS is just that. I can’t thank you enough, probably going to need two carts because I have to much stuff, don’t tell the little women.

    Can you explain the tool that appears to be made of an antler?

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely!!! It’s actually a deer bone. My son makes them for me. It’s essentially a “bone folder”. Book makers use bone folders in their craft. The good ones are made of actual bone. The fakes are made of plastic. For me, it holds leather down as I pull chisels out. Also, to crease and mold leather around corners, etc. tons of uses.
