    Let’s see where to start;! My name is Doug , Ironworker Doug! lol. Ah well, the wife and I have been watching your videos since you started! I have been leather crafting for 20 years now. I make tool holder’s for Ironworkers’s. That stitching pony you use, I took some pictures of it drew, sketched out what I thought looked good, and preceded to trace and cut, traced and cut a bunch of wood pieces, glued them up 🆙 and made one . One of my first wood glue projects ever! The box I mounted it on has drawers on each side, to keep the sowing stuff in um . I can’t believe how cool 😎 it turned out! Thanks

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 года назад +13

      Awe !!!! Thanks!!! I’m assuming you’re asking why I punch from inside to out ? The “in” side of stitching looks SLIGHTLY better to me. Most won’t notice from one side to the other. But…. I know most will be looking at the inside of tie wallets 90% more often than the outside (after the first month of use). So, slight prettier inside. Where you see more

    As many have and continue to say, thank you for what you do. The videos have gone way beyond helping me get better and understand more.
    As for the dogs. Man, if folks aren’t dog people it really is hard to understand. I’m in a career where I see humans in all forms of disasters and it was the sudden loss of both my Labs, Miw at 13 and Rej at 10, within three months of each other that stopped my world. To find joy in things again was a relief and delving into leatherwork about 8 months ago was just that for me.

    Great videos, I'm learning a ton here, thanks for sharing your know-how. The bump jigs opened my eyes, I've been struggling with copying patterns, this helps a lot!
    I see you use a cutter knife rather than a scalpel. I started off with a large cutter, but the blade would move in its bed, and that cost me a whole project. Then I found a tiny aluminum Stanley cutter with a screw to squeeze the blade in place, and I'm loving it.

    Hey Artie, thanks for all of the knowledge you give out. I haven't been in leather working long (just a hobbier), but I have learned so much in a short time just by watching your videos.
    Question: I saw on the website that you have a minimal edition of the Santiago without the front pocket. How would you do a card stop on the inside pocket since you wouldn't have an outside pocket to cover the stitching? Would you use glue only?
    Thanks again.

    Greetings Artie, I see you use Amy Roke's leather tweezers a lot.
    I ask you for advice when sewing the leather parts for the handles...
    Do you recommend me to first sew the section that goes from the beginning of the handles to the spring and cut the thread to then sew the part that goes from the spring to the end of the handle?
    That is, the seam goes in 2 times or only one?
    I appreciate it if you help me thank you.

    Hey Artie, have you tried placing the stamp before you apply the white mud? I’ve done that a few times and really makes the stamp pop. Just my 2 cents for you😊👍🏼

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 года назад +1

      Yes. I’ve done it both ways. You’re right…. Stamp first looks better. But more difficult to place when I grease it all prior to cutting out pieces. It’s just a convenience issue sometimes.
