Big thanks to Paradox for sponsoring this video!
Roads to Power is releasing on the 24th and there is MUCH that you can do! You can be landless or play in the Byzantine empire! Don't miss it!
The glory and might of the Byzantine Empire are yours to command in this Major Expansion to Crusader Kings III. The unique politics and cultures of the heir to the Roman Empire are on display through a new governing system, new ways for characters to progress up the societal ladder, and new activities for them to engage in. You can also explore a new exciting lifestyle as a landless Adventurer, seeking fame and glory across a living map of the medieval world.
#ck3 #roadstopower
You can be landless in this DLC, but you won't be loveless - I love you.
Look at the DLC here: play.crusaderkings.com/OPB
What are the options for changing the Roman Empire's names?
You should fire whoever writes these for you.
Honestly everything that happened in the latter half of the video is simply divine punishment for daring to side against the rightful Emperor and attempting to put a pretender on the throne. Simple divine punishment is the best explanation
Historically Béla III was actually at one point the heir apparent of the Byzantine empire.
Having been raised in Constantinople, he was renamed Alexios and named despotes (heir apparent) after marrying Maria, the daughter of the emperor. He actually took part in campaigns against his home Kingdom of Hungary.
Yep, I chuckled when i saw that they chose him of all people to become "Latin Emperor".
Alexios Palaiologos: assumes governance over Opsikion, maims a rival family into ignominy, decimates the Sultanate of Rum, expands control over Anatolia itself, then reinstates Roman rule by kicking the Catholics out of Constantinople.
All within his lifetime.
I wonder how his contemporaries felt knowing they could only be side characters for the true main character.
I hope Paradox have let the creators of EPE and CPF get early access so they can update the mods quickly. Pretty sure that happened with a previous DLC so here's hoping it happens this time!
As you said they’ve done it with previous dlcs so I don’t see why they wouldn’t do that.
I honestly can't play the game without those mods, so won't be delving into the DLC content until they're updated.

3:23 "I hate the way that they talk, I hate the way that they walk..." 😭😭😭omg that popculture reference came out of nowhere
Yeah that’s what I thought. Maybe coincidence but he hits another at 4:40 .
The Latin Empire starting out with less than 5k troops and not calling in their 60k allies feels like bad balancing on PDX's part.
PDX for the love of god please change “Angria” to Saxony
Agreed, Angria just doesn't have that Sax appeal.
The English Duchy names also annoy me - sure there is no good replacement for 'Mercia' but changing Hwicee to Gloucester isnt hard.
when did angria become saxony? just thinking if there could perhaps be a cultural shift (i.e. hwicce -> gloucester like another commenter suggested switches after the english culture is formed, as like a vague and simple fix). i dunno if there are any prevelant german cultural changes that could be outlined with the CK3 culture system, though. maybe a saxon ruler gets a decision if he inherits, or a decision unlocks past a certain date that the AI will almost always pick.
The "Hungarian guy" (Bela) was actually the designated heir of Manuel I before he had a son, he even renamed him Alexios in order to fulfill the αἷμα prophecy.
as a Bulgarian I can tell you that Ivan Asen was the founder of the second Bulgarian state, but his yonger brother was granted the title of tsar. The first tsar was from the first Bulgarian state
You could in theory make your own family-linked shadow government with this
This new administrative system suggests the mechanics are now in place to play as republics in a future update.
hopefully with some trade mechanics
And China as well
Very excited for 867 Byz start. I wonder if Phokas is playable.
I think his grandfather is a count in southeastern Anatolia
Amazing thumbnail. Truly, a piece of the art.
The Anatolia thunderdome was a beauty to behold
The Hungarian queen that sided with you against the Latin Empire was called 'The Unworthy' so maybe it was a political move to embarrass her predecessor and calm things down on her home front.
'I know why they fell' 💀🙏🏻
Byzantine Empire lasted for 1100 years one of the longest lasting empires in history. So yea it was eventually going to fall.
The Eastern Roman Empire was a great and powerful country, we in Serbia are still trying to emulate it, like all post-Ottoman Orthodox countries.
The last 10 minutes of this looks like the most fun I've ever seen in CK3, with challenge even to an experienced player, and more importantly challenge that is and feels genuine
Holy shit Byzantium is an absolute thunder dome
This new Startdate looks awesome with all the troops you got in each country normally everyone was weak later when you start earlier
Wait, can mercenaries betray you now?
Alternatively, can you make someone elses mercs betray them?
Please make this a series!!!
Roads
Wow, this looks like a really good dlc.
So jealous
Seeing all of this makes me WISH for a harry potter mod.
3:22 He hates the way that they dress too!
Damn they got EARLY early access
DONDOLLOOOOOO!
The amount of ads on what is already a sponsored video is crazy bro
bro became Kendrick for a sec
What do you thinkk about this DLC and be honest? It seems to have a lot of hype, I already own it, but I feel like I'm let down more than not.
Can only tell you in the review coming 23rd (I think that's the embargo date)! Will tell you in full as I have with all DLCs previously!
Why? Its pretty cool from what I see. Sadly my pc cant run anything beyond the plague update. Id buy this if I could.
@@kamemesg2083 Yeah, all the DLC's look cool at first lol.
Wow, they only gave the Shia Nizari Ismaili Assassins one small piece of land 😭
so we are not getting more dev diary coverage? The scheme stuff just came out. We got a few days to wait..
Does the Wittelsbach dynasty exist?
Bro Byzantine Empire lasted for 1100 years one of the longest lasting empires in history. So yea it was eventually going to fall.
The asen dynasty ruled the 2nd Bulgarian Empire.
Frankia never owned the Bretagne.
cool
Is this mechanic only available for byzantium or you can do these things in others as well?
The administrative government is available to other realms, assuming you fulfil the necessary requirements to transition from feudal to administrative.
I really hope that the multicolored armor will be fixed before the release of the DLC because it's really ugly.
It's very funny that the "Glory of the Faith" is an atheist :D
is the powerful family stuff only for byzantine’s?
I hope this system serves as a framework for republican governments in chapter 4
Really, play as Byzantine with this release? I would go straight to landless adventurers .
Hope this comes to Xbox
i dont understand why Saladin is arabic when hes kurdish?
Ich mag meine Männer wie meinen Kaffee: stark, heiß und in der Lage, mich nach 21 Uhr wach zu halten👅
when will thiscome to PS5
hopefully never, console gamers killed ck3 development
@@whodis3489 What are you talking about. Of course this is going to come to PS5 one day.
I don't want to sound too pessimistic but maybe in 2 or 3 years
we'll probably get this on console in a year
@@whodis3489 wtf do you even mean, paradox barely cares about console
