Marvellous. Of the many delights in this performance, I particularly liked the quiet, unhurried and thoughtful way they played that little fugue in the second movement, and the sheer pace, energy and exuberance of the finale. Thanks to all for making this available to us.
This piece is actually inspired by Gounod's Symphony in D Major. Gounod was his teacher at the time and that's why Bizet never had it performed, it was too similar to Gounod's which was released the year prior.
Thanks for posting this wonderful recording. There is something very special about the oboe solo at the beginning of the piece, particularly around 2:19.
Surely a piece like this could not have been written by a young man shortly after his seventeenth birthday? Those three repetitive notes in the second movement are masterpiece
Not an appropriate piece of music to play without conductor, especially the Adagio. Sloppy entrances from oboe, and apparently they consider it a tympani concerto - incorrect balance between sections. (And why on Earth didn’t they move the piano out of the way?!)
If you had clicked the link to the full concert in the description, you could have seen that this was a concert program without a break in a COVID-situation, that’s why the piano couldn’t be moved. If they had the opportunity they would have done it for sure. But hey, it’s much more fun to complain online, isn’t it? By the way, I am also very curious to get some timestamps from the “sloppy oboe entrances”…
Puts a smile on my face.
One of the more under appreciated symphonies. A real gem.
Fantastic performance. Bizet would have been very pleased with this stunning recording.
Mais où est le chef ???
Incroyable performance.

.
I don't think badly interpreted, simply lacking the overall cohesion that a good conductor brings.

La Grande Bellezza brought me here. The adagio is pure ecstasy
The Allegro Vivace is surely one of the most uplifting compositions
the Andante is so beautiful
BRAVOOOO!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just brilliant, especially the incomparable second movement. All our best from Croatia.
God bless Croatia 🇭🇷

not released finished

Bellisimo, gracias

Lovely performance, I really like the tempo they played, just perfect!
Wonderful Performance. Unfortunately without a full audience. Hopefully there will be better times soon. We all think of you.

Fabulous soloists.
Bravo au premier violon !💐
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed. Thank you again
Excellent performance, really enjoyed it.Thank you very much!
Majestueux ! From your Frensh Friend
incredible symphony👍👍👍
Obrigado (Martz Inura)
Very nice, but I was wondering what this sound was - 13:30. If you slow it way down, you can see the cellist looking behind him.
Agree with Brian. Including the "Thank you".
Stupendous!
Geweldige prestatie en wat een hoboïst!!!!

Each time I hear this music, I think it's Beethoven or partly Schubert. Obviously inspired by their work.
It is actually inspired by Gounod's Symphony in D Major. Gounod was his teacher at the time.
Piękne
On croirait entendre Beethoven 😲
A reed, 13:30 XD
A seventeen year old wrote a symphony and this is the result.
A symphony written by a teenager of seventeen.
16:00 Where does he breathe?
Coffee break 6:30
Unabashed Beethoven, and more power to it! Beethoven's symphonies compried an oeuvre to be contributed to, and Bizet contributed this.
Unabashedly Beethoven no doubt....bizet contributes to master's first symphony
Where should one place op 21 beethoven first movement...bizet first movement

No apparent conductor and no audience due to the pandemic. The andante is sublime. The resulting
performance is to be treasured.
we need to bring back clapping between movements. Just so awkward now to the point of being stuffy and inaccessible

Please point out the sloppy entrances...
