    I like when pianists do not push tempo but play in such a romantic way as he does. Beautiful sound, clear melody, tempo rubato. Chopin would be proud of this performance.

    So so beautiful in my 65 years of listening to this piece I have never heard it being played so incredibly beautiful. No other pianist comes close to this performance. Wow. Also a wonderful concert master and such a great orchestra with no conductor. Fine musicians. Such a pleasure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting this on RUclips.

    How wonderful to have the opportunity to listen to such uplifting music during this time of lockdown. As someone with a below par immune system, I was advised by the UK government three months ago to not leave the house at all for the coming 12 weeks unless it was for a medical appointment. During this time I have left the house for 11 medical appointments and been at home the rest of the time. Music like this connects me with the outside world and all my hope and aspiration for a better future for all of us. Bravo!

    I particularly enjoyed the Larghetto in this, thank you. It was very sensitively played and not at all dragged out, as some performers have made it in the past. Lucas played as sensitively and clearly throughout, as expected from him. A lovely combination of instruments with the soloist, though sometimes I thought the wind instruments needed a little more amplification. Thank you all for a pleasant concert, Cathy

    Tant de pianistes _ au demeurant d'un très haut niveau technique _ dévident les concertos de Chopin comme on tire du câble électrique, au mètre.
    Certains y accumulent tous les excès possibles pour montrer qu'ils ont des muscles, d'autres y ajoutent toutes afféteries possibles, vidant cette musique de sa substance.
    Ici, tout est évidence, simplicité, clarté, ce qui n'empêche pas le lyrisme, le soin apporté à chaque phrasé, l'émotion à fleur de peau. Le bonheur !

    I love Kristian Zimerman, for many reasons. But comparing his interpretation of this composition to that by Lucas, I agree with R. Strzelecki about the greater profundity of the interpretation by Lucas. As a former opera Principal, I find that both the Jussen brothers actually 'sing' in their performances. The 'verismo' of the romantically lush renditions touches the soul more.... and this performance is a perfect example.

    • @ConstantineFinehouse
      @ConstantineFinehouse 2 года назад

      You are lying to yourself and to others, dear sir. The two pianists are not comparable, either as far as pianistic refinement is concerned, or as far as musicianship; and one of the two is somewhat inadequate--you can take a guess which one. If you would like to hear young people playing this piece masterfully, final round performances of this year's Chopin competition are available online. Comparing this to Zimerman.....Lord have mercy :)

    Superbly played ... with great romantism and passion ... What a pity that some people thought it necessary to applaud in between two movements ... it completely broke the atmosphere created by the music ... But otherwise, what else can I say : "Wonderful music, wonderful pianist, wonderful Chopin" !!!

    • @brunopicaude3092
      @brunopicaude3092 4 года назад +4

      I naturally tend to think like you, but after a while, I know this is an educated public. They know that usually, there is no applaud between the movements; and you notice they don't... in the moment; and suddenly, they "crack". I think they really couldn't contain their enthusiasm and emotion any more. That's also a beautiful thing.
      During the 19th century, this tradition of no-applause-between did not exist; the composers were very happy when the public claimed his happiness. And the programs were not "strict" as nowadays; you could have one movement of a concerto, two opera arias, two movements of a symphony... It was not chocking. Other period, other manners.

    The second movement is played with such personal emotion; sadness and angst... beautiful and yet so painful.

    Pas de chef, sans doute, mais la communion en Musique fait des miracles, non ? Ce jeune pianiste allie poésie et distinction classique. Bravo!

    This is an admirable performance. Lucas Jussen clearly has something to say and he says it with passion. His technique is probably not perfect, but his legatos are wonderfully executed. It is possible to hear each note and feel the lyricism of his phrasing. He is an amazing musician!
