Brilliantly talented. Fencer Jet Pilot Ale Brewer Singer/Songwriter Author But even when he had f**kin CANCER...he makes jokes about it Truly an angel in human skin
Bruce Dickinson: Mid 50's (at the time) Running around on stage with the energy of a caffeinated child... sings like a 20 year old Scandinavian Power Metal vocalist... flies a 747, the second largest airliner currently in production, on a regular basis... records an album with a caliber most bands can only DREAM of... gets cancer (THROAT cancer, even!) tells cancer to go FUCK ITSELF, and immediately goes back to work and tours the world... tied in with his musical prowess, genuine kind-hearted character, and a more than honorable level of humility, he might be one of the greatest and most inspirational human beings to walk this earth. Actually, no, not MIGHT be...he IS. If I could ever send a message to that man, I'd say just how grateful I am of his being. Bruce, thank you!
Watching him and Iron Maiden perform was a huge inspiration. I was sixteen and supposed to be grounded but I broke the rules to go see Iron Maiden. The way they performed and the energy of everyone there was one of the best things I've ever experienced
Yeah I think Bruce's longevity as a "metal" singer as well as his mates "Steve Harris" particularly the trampoline-giver can be attributed to NO drugs for years and Harris' soccer playing. They are just a Healthy I-don't-care-what-you-think-we're-gonna-create-great-music band. They're not trying to be "Cool." They are cool because they are mature beings for decades.
When you are truly multi-talented, you cant help but being humble. Socrates was famous for saying he doesn't know anything. Its the realization that you don't know much after exploring much that makes you humble
So understand, Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years. Face up....make your stand And realise you're living in the golden years.
[Verse 1] From the coast of gold Across the seven seas I'm travellin' on Far and wide But now it seems I'm just a stranger to myself And all the things I sometimes do It isn't me but someone else I close my eyes, and think of home Another city goes by in the night Ain't it funny how it is You never miss it 'til it's gone away And my heart is lying there And will be 'til my dying day [Chorus] So understand Don't waste your time always searching for Those wasted years Face up... make your stand And realize you're living in the golden years [Verse 2] Too much time on my hands I got you on my mind Can't ease this pain, so easily When you can't find the words to say It's hard to make it through another day And it makes me wanna cry And throw my hands up to the sky
JD Knight -- I'm in the middle of the audiobook. While I'm sure it's a great 'physical' read -- ho ... leee... sheet -- his narration/reading is hysterical. I couldn't imagine simply reading the book. Audio is HIGHLY recommended!
I’m so happy he’s doing better...I remember getting the news about him having cancer...you immediately think he’s going to die......funny thing,I got diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer a couple of years after him...I’m still here...not planing on leaving this earth anytime soon
Lol have you seen any pics from the early 80s? Theres pictures of Bruce so drunk he can barely keep his eyes open lol. Nikko and another guy (the name escapes me), broke down Peter Framptons door because he wouldnt come out and party lol. Even Adrian admits that he ad-libbed alot of the solo in Powerslave because he was so hung over/drunk from the previous night lol. Maiden back in the 80s partied hard.
MR Thegreat. yea. all thro the 1980s 70 Maiden fans would fuck themselves up with drugs and alcohol I wish the band let fans know more than that they were into soccer and just beer
And David Lee Roth, and Prince. Ever see Prince jump off a piano into a split? If anyone has video of that, please share. Of course injury led to drug use, which ultimately killed him.
Bruce Dickinson is truly an inspiration to me. Not only is he a great vocalist for one of the greatest bands ever, but he took up fencing and was so good at it he was asked to do it for the olympics, learned to fly planes and brew beer. It seems like once this guy learns to do something, he's going to go all out and do it right. And he seems like a pretty chill guy as well.
Bruce aged considerably on the last 5 years, what reminds me of all the great artists and bands that are still around today in 2017 but will inevitably retire in the next 2 to 3 years. And the saddest thing: there will be no one to replace them.
Lion Phoenix why would they retire Bruce can still sing like he used to (sounds a Bit old on the high notes but still amazing) and the band can Keep up with the Speed. Mo Problems There. They sell out Arenas Play huge Festivals and maybe even Stadiums and They have fun doing what they're doing. And they still sound inspired and like they still have much to say and many Stories to tell if you Listen to the book of souls I see no reason why they should retire maybe they'll quit doing huge World Tours cause they are exhausting but they wont retire in the near Future i think.
So glad the cancer did not beat Bruce. The throat of all places for a singer. Being in good health I am sure helped his healing process. Keep going Bruce, G.B.U
So this conversation has happened between a nurse and Bruce Nurse: "you should keep at rest, don't sing too much yet or you might make it worse and you might need to completely relearn how to sing" Bruce: "but that's great! I haven't had any lessons yet, and I might learn a thing or two. Where do I sign up?" How can you stay humorous in such a situation?
Bruce is absolutely right at 1:48, that's exactly what my voice teacher told me 28 yrs. ago. I never drank before or during a show. Warmed-up cooled-down(which a cool-down is probably just as important as a warm-up session)!! Young singers take note, if you don't do this correctly, you will sing for a very short time. I'm 50, and still hitting all the notes I did when I was 25!!
Bruce is one a very small number of people whom i truly admire and respect...I think he is a wonderful person...He's always warm, intelligent, funny, insightful, measured and inspirational...that's to say nothing of his talent and the fact that he is so grounded.
I've always really admired Bruce. I'm glad he is healthy. He is such a positive force of energy. He looks better than a lot of much young rock stars, and he still fences, has pilot license, etc.
VERLY WELL SPOKEN! So true as a vocalist I attest to EVERY single thing he said about singing and talking etc. I have stated the same thing many times but it is so refreshing to hear him say this. Validation!!
Best front man ever. Inspiring human being with a strong spirit. Thanks for teach us there are other ways to take serious usses. Love you Bruce. Scream for you. Up the Irons!!See you in October here in Argentina
Thanks for sharing the interview with Mr Bruce. Love his sense of humour. Glad he made a full recovery. Thanks for sharing your experience on different aspects Mr Bruce. See you in Sydney of your Speak Tour in October 2018.
*I love this man, he's very incredible, his personality is amazing. He's seems like he's not from this world. I admire him very much. And he's really handsome* ♡♡♡
He’s like the international man of mystery. I look up to him because since birth this guy is pure positivity. Some people are just wired to succeed in life. He’s one of them. His mind never says “I can’t.”
Only a guy like Bruce, can look back at a horrible life threatening illness like Cancer and laugh. An that's not a negative thing, it's a positive, it's basically saying "fuck you cancer, you didn't win this battle".
+Evan000aaa, I don't know what you mean by that, you'd have to be more specific, but there have been quite a few people in my family that have had it (including some that have died) as well as 2 people I knew in School that had it (they both survived). An the majority of those people feel very uncomfortable talking about it, an I'm talking in the sense of post-cancer, for a lot of people it's just too traumatic of an experience. But my point with Bruce, is that due to his personality, he's able to look back and find the humour in it.
+Evan000aaa, I'm not bullshitting, unfortunately that's life, an for the record there have been 8 people in my family that have had it, 4 of them died (and according to the numbers of cancer statistics, 50% of them dying is average), and 1 of them is currently battling cancer (making the number 8) and he has survived it 2 times before in his life. An to add a bit of humour to the situation, he always jokes about the statistics and say "I'll be alright, I have statistics on my side".
I respect him as an artist and as an intelligent well spoken bloke. He has always impressed me. My sons (ages 25 and 29) are also huge fans. All three of us have been to see Maiden at different times. We all can't wait for the next one.
Not much to say, great guy! Reporter was a little bit pointy, but then, they're supposed to be. The world could use more of these amazing bards, with a love for story telling.
For a while, I was a demand planner at an aeronautics company. I planned quite a whole of parts that I had no clue about. I stumbled across Bruce’s TV series about airplanes... and it was a godsend. I actually learned a LOT about aircraft and control mechanisms from his series, and learned the basic differences between Airbus and Boeing platforms. Really timely.
When the news broke, I really went trough different stages of grief.. from all bands in the world, maiden is the one band I dont want to see harmed. I'm still so glad the man got better, en now they are even better then before
This person Bruce Dickinson took over a band allready established made the most historical music ever .Steve Harris is always made not only a band but he and everyone made a huge change to just life..still life Bruce when your live you know your not a pilot, your not an Author ,fencer, singer, songwriter your my friend for life
A bit late one - but the positivity is just amazing... My tiny depression/lack of feeling of being "useful" becomes a bit more ridiculous. Really thanks - I'm quite heavily depressed and hearing Bruce makes the day a bit more withstand-able...
The trampoline story has some merit as using a trampoline generates electricity which helps to fight cancer (I'm not sure of the exact ins and outs but that's what I read somewhere) and so I wonder if Steve Harris knew this and that's why he he sent it to Bruce?
I read an article about 15 years ago or so that was focused on a guy who was really concerned about the health of his 70 year old father. He had a heart to heart talk with his father about what a wreck his physical health had become. Evidently his dad took the talk to heart. For whatever reason that he chose his particular path to do a reboot on his health, he purchased a trampoline. The article I read was taken from the perspective of how his father was doing 10 years later at the age of 80. It was titled "A Dud at 70, a Stud at 80". The picture of his father featured for this article showed a lean, spry to say the least, energized elderly man clenching his fists and aggressively standing upon his trampoline. Evidently something really worked with his commitment to his trampoline.
Thanks, Karl. Loved your input here as well. I keep promising myself I will get a trampoline at some point. Right now I live in San Francisco, though, with very limited space!
Karl I'm not sure whether you're daft, uninformed or have misunderstood recent research. Let's assume the latter and what it might be you didn't get the fuill story with: There's some really interesting research under trial in Germany using ultra high speed directionally reversing electromagnets in the treatment of cancer. But its NOT electricity per se that does the job. ....... They work in conjunction with injecting the tumour with a suspension of iron nano-particles in a solution. The electromagnets make the iron particles align. It switches polarity and the iron particals reverse their direction. This polarity switching is done at incredibly high 'revolutions'. And the spinning of the iron particles pushes the temperature of the solution higher and higher. If all goes to plan it 'cooks' the tumour from the inside outward. That destroys the tumor without collateral damage to other cells which, (although controls are improving all the time to reduce that) currently occurs with 'mainstream' Rx such as Radio & Chemo therapies.
Bruce is amazing man and as every body else he is tired of it all but thats the price he payed He still might be great next year after some good rest and recovery to show the world much more brilliant performances .I believe that he ll goes on and on till his last atoms of energy...
Brilliantly talented.

My neighbor interviewed him once apparently he was a dick
Ikr? He seems like an amazing person :)
So understand,
Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years.
Face up....make your stand
And realise you're living in the golden years.
Those lines make the hair on my arms stand up every time.
Me too. Is english your language?
[Verse 1]
From the coast of gold
Across the seven seas
I'm travellin' on
Far and wide
But now it seems
I'm just a stranger to myself
And all the things I sometimes do
It isn't me but someone else
I close my eyes, and think of home
Another city goes by in the night
Ain't it funny how it is
You never miss it 'til it's gone away
And my heart is lying there
And will be 'til my dying day
[Chorus]
So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for
Those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realize you're living in the golden years
[Verse 2]
Too much time on my hands
I got you on my mind
Can't ease this pain, so easily
When you can't find the words to say
It's hard to make it through another day
And it makes me wanna cry
And throw my hands up to the sky
Too much time on "your" hands.. J/K =^.^=
I would give you a heart-like if i could.

Bruce is a great person. It's always nice when you find that your music heroes are real life heroes. It's usually the opposite unfortunately.

Bruce aged considerably on the last 5 years, what reminds me of all the great artists and bands that are still around today in 2017 but will inevitably retire in the next 2 to 3 years. And the saddest thing: there will be no one to replace them.
Greta van Fleet, Kaleo, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Stone Cherry... give them a try.
I know them all. Hope they will stand the test of time.
And they still sound inspired and like they still have much to say and many Stories to tell if you Listen to the book of souls
I see no reason why they should retire maybe they'll quit doing huge World Tours cause they are exhausting but they wont retire in the near Future i think.
I want to age like him....!!
Eily Bergin lol wow....4 absolute SHIT bands. my condolences.
First time seeing him, sure is an intelligent man 💗👌
So glad the cancer did not beat Bruce. The throat of all places for a singer. Being in good health I am sure helped his healing process. Keep going Bruce, G.B.U
Bruce is such an amazing person. It's hard to believe that one person can accomplish so much in life. I admire him greatly.
UP UP THE IRONS!!!Long Live to Bruce and all the guys in the band, they´re amazing.
Bruce Dickinson is quite possibly the most talented person ever to live.
Cancer ain't gonna stop Bruce, he's a beast and a FUCKING LEGEND.
Watching old interviews you can see how that hyperactive energy has mellowed out in older years - he always comes across so well in interviews.
So this conversation has happened between a nurse and Bruce
Nurse: "you should keep at rest, don't sing too much yet or you might make it worse and you might need to completely relearn how to sing"
Bruce: "but that's great! I haven't had any lessons yet, and I might learn a thing or two. Where do I sign up?"
How can you stay humorous in such a situation?
Be British
Bruce is absolutely right at 1:48, that's exactly what my voice teacher told me 28 yrs. ago. I never drank before or during a show. I liked Paul di'anno but when Bruce Dickinson came out on that first album he just blew me away
The man had a powerful voice.
Paul was Punk.
Bruce is Allmighty!
I like Paul, but honestly Bruce sets Maiden apart from all other metal bands
Still kicking ass and taking names in 2019, Up the Irons
god bless bruce dickinson and iron maiden....for 35 yrs over im still playing song till now

Long time fan, but seeing these interviews really is great to see how amazing Bruce is and his outlook on life. Great job.

Bruce is amazing and such a great role model. I hope he continues to sing for a long time to come.
Kudos to the guys interviewing Bruce. They really made the conversation flow!
We're so glad to hear you think so, thanks for watching and commenting!
These are great interviewers. Friendly, courteous, funny, relevant, well-spoken.
Fascinating listening to a very well educated and brilliant singer.
What a great person, good Lord keep him and his band safe
When i google ''headache'' it says ''brain cancer''...
Rosida Andriyana what are u talking about
it's not a tumor
If one Googles sore finger chances are the answer is cancer :)
@@flappynator1010 In this case though I'm sure glad the diagnosis lead him to treatment!
Well in Google's defence bad headaches could be a sign of brain cancer!
Bruce is a class act. Great artist, thoughtful and sincere.
He’s like the international man of mystery. I look up to him because since birth this guy is pure positivity. Some people are just wired to succeed in life. He’s one of them. His mind never says “I can’t.”
Great questions by the interviewer. And even greater answers by Bruce.
You can't not help but love Bruce Stay well Captain.
Bruce Dickinson was (and is) one of my first idols not only in music, but in art, merchandising, branding, etc.Awesome person.
It is impossible not to love this man...
Hope to see you again in my country, Croatia! Up the Irons!!!
Bruce is a fine chap! He seems to be as 'down to earth' as a rock legend / entrepreneur / pilot / just plain good dude can be. Much respect.

+Marky Marco,
What's that's supposed to imply?
Try to beat cancer being poor.
I respect him as an artist and as an intelligent well spoken bloke. He has always impressed me. My sons (ages 25 and 29) are also huge fans. All three of us have been to see Maiden at different times. We all can't wait for the next one.
I have just seen him with Maiden in Cracow . He is absolutely out of this world as a frontman ...what a voice , what a passion !
Interesting how he described Steve Harris as the "bass player" - it's his band!!!
Not much to say, great guy! Reporter was a little bit pointy, but then, they're supposed to be. The world could use more of these amazing bards, with a love for story telling.
Bruce Dickinson, amazing accomplished individual!! Brilliant vocalist and performer but equally brilliant human being!!

Doug that is fascinating, there is something to it for sure.
Thanks, Karl. Loved your input here as well. I keep promising myself I will get a trampoline at some point. Right now I live in San Francisco, though, with very limited space!
Electricity fights cancer? We are electricity.
Karl I'm not sure whether you're daft, uninformed or have misunderstood recent research.
Let's assume the latter and what it might be you didn't get the fuill story with:
There's some really interesting research under trial in Germany using ultra high speed directionally reversing electromagnets in the treatment of cancer.
My favorite singer of all time
Bruce is awesome saw him years ago in van and he was jumping around like a teenager in his 50s
Bruce is amazing man and as every body else he is tired of it all but thats the price he payed He still might be great next year after some good rest and recovery to show the world much more brilliant performances .I believe that he ll goes on and on till his last atoms of energy...
