I used to have an older version and just a great car for family trips, biking, camping etc but I’m in the UK and the SUV obsessed Mercedes Benz UK product team decided to stop it! Just crazy.
I absolutely love the fact that the infotainment screen is integrated in the dash design rather than stuck on top in your eyeline like an afterthought as in most cars now. For me that alone would make me put the e class at the top of my list.
Beautiful car and another banger review. Well done Anna. Two comments. Decades past, what were called station wagons were really the precursor to the SUV in America. Many of us grew up, loading up the station wagon, most were V8, and taking vacations to Florida, California etc. Station wagons seem to be making a mini comeback of sorts. I like the aesthetic and practicality of this vehicle and of course station wagons have a handling and aerodynamic advantage over taller SUV's. Will share my take about Mercedes Benz as an American and automotive engineer. Their quality control is abysmal. Way too many I know have countless quality control issues. General consensus is, never own one. Hybrids out of warranty will only be worse due to about 2.5 x's the technical complexity. Aging electronics never do well. Maybe the ultimate lease machine if you don't care about wasting money. After 4 years of ownership, just out of warranty, most MB's are worth less than 50% of their MSRP. Not a very prudent buying decision. They are beautiful cars that no longer make fiscal sense unlike MB and even BMW's of old which were easily serviced and much more reliable. P.S. as to your comment about aging, I had to laugh. Your skin and muscle tone are about perfect, a credit to your discipline which most don't have. The camera doesn't lie and why so many don't want to be in front of one. 🙂
Thank you Anna. Great review as always and yes, I did consider this vehicle a couple of years ago but ended up with an Audi Q7 which has been an excellent choice for the way we use a car. And thank you for your candid comments about EV’s as well.
It's hilarious that this came out today as just yesterday I ordered one of these with that exact interior color and trim. I am indeed something special. ;-) I look forward to not being an SUV guy anymore.
As always another top review Anna, unfortunately you mention it will not be available in the UK and for me I'm OK as I'm unlikely to be able to afford it. But as a car I love that it exists. Estate cars are a dying breed on UK roads, from my experience of estate cars is that you might need to find two post codes to park it but they are so practical. Brilliant presentation and editing as usual. Many thanks for sharing.
Hi Anna! You are really good at your tests. I think the interior is nice but I would have chosen a different color for the paint. Thanks for getting me to understand the difference between the C and E class, I am not that familiar with Mercedes. PS! You are a young woman and not old.
Good review, thank you! And I am totally with you: saddle brown leather interior is waaay better than black. I have a similar interior in my CLE and simply love it. 😊
It certainly is a beautiful car a fabulous specification as always engineered brilliantly it is not coming to the Uk in that form but it would not be in my price range 😊
Have one coming in two weeks after the wagon from Porsche. It’ll be a fun comparison before the new Cadillac Escalade. Love estate cars. Great video as always.
Great to see Mercedes are at least still making good looking cars, unlike BMW with their hideous new design language. Lovely review as always and a great start to the new year.
Thank you ❤ Ah, so Canada same as the US, what a shame. This car would work so so well in Canada, especially in snowy winters with higher ground clearance.
@@AnnaOnRoads For some reason wagon is not very popular in North America, frankly I prefer the wagon. @@jchoong9704 Ah yes, I've read about the diesel drama in Canada just 2 days ago. What a shame as you have long distances, harsh winters in Canada - these are conditions for a solid diesel engine. Thank YOU❤
Anna!!! Love your reviews. How would you compare the Audi Allroad to the Merc All-Terrain to the V60 cross Country? I like the concept of a raised wagon.....and sedan for that matter. I am from Trinidad and Tobago and although the roads are quite comprehensive here, some of them can be rough. Also, the occasional flooding in the wet season comes into play and this type of vehicle is one that I am considering. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you again for your reviews.

Hi Christoph, thank you. Well, I think it's important to understand that these are not heavy off-roaders, but they sure do come in handy in muddy, snowy conditions - sitting slightly higher. And better to opt for a crossover when you're older 😉 these are even easier to get in and out. Happy New Year Christoph!
@@AnnaOnRoads Happy new year to you as well! Well I will do 😃! But talking about heavy offroaders I am thinking of G-Class, Landcrusiers or Defenders... Everything else is more or less in between. I think if you have a regular AWD car (saloon or wagon) it can already do a lot for you. Areas where you really need something better, most of the people do never reach... This is also why by far the largest part of SUVs is used in areas they have not been designed or built for: City Centers 🤭
I have the 2019 E400d All-Terrain (in the UK) and it’s a great car and a brilliant alternative to the SUV. Stupidly fast with 340bhp and 700Nm. Only downside I’ve found is the car does understeer when pushed and the 400d has a design fault: the plastic turbo vacuum pipe runs right next to the DPF so melts and collapses - you then lose turbo. Mercedes have tried to fix it with a factory fix but failed.
That’s just a modern station wagon. My dad had a fairly new 1972 Ford limited station wagon when I was a kid, which tells you how old I am… kinda, and it had 8 cylinders and way more space in the front seat.. cause it was a bench and the back seat… same. The trunk had a seat that pulled out of the floor for kids and no one ever wore their seat belts; they were just a suggestion. All that said, it looked a lot like this in theory, just larger. Oh well, maybe I’m just being picky. Thanks for another hell of a review!!!
Volvo V90 and Subaru Outback would be better options if we really want to be serious about the "all terrain" part. If the budget allows, the RS6 with Audi's Quattro drive system would also be a better choice. But if we are talking about leisure, sure we can go for this one.
Beautiful car looks great inside and outside, Hybrid must be the way to go forward, NOT full EV with all the disadvantages they have, petrol and diesel produce NOX gases, so a good range on electric for town drive is perfect, much better than an SUV 🥱🤢 agree black interior so depressing, this looks beautiful, saloon for me, but to big, i drive a Mercedes coupe looks 😍good review thanks.
