  • My thoughts on the 2012 Hyundai Genesis Track, with the 3.8L v6 and 6 speed automatic gearbox:
I love the Genesis. The first genesis I reviewed made me realize that Hyundai can actually make a fun and engaging car, and this genesis is no different. It’s no mystery that I love the 3.8L V6, it makes a great sound and delivers enough power to satisfy most drivers. To sweeten the deal, the genesis is relatively cheap. You can pick one up off the lot for around thirty-five thousand dollars, but one like the one in the video can be picked up for around twelve thousand. That’s not bad considering the brand new Miata’s highest trim level is thirty-five grand, but has half the horsepower. (I’m not saying which is a better car, the genesis just has more horsepower).
This car featured an automatic transmission, which I wasn’t a fan of. In my time driving it it didn’t slip and wasn’t too sloppy, but on a track edition car, I’d prefer a manual. Having an automatic transmission on a track oriented car feels like a free version of a paid app: Its great and fun, but feels like a part of a greater whole. It feels like the word “Track” should be followed with a lightly whispered “Kinda”.
Despite the transmission, I loved the car. I already stated that I loved the 3.8L, but what surprised me was the seating. Yes, the seating. I don’t know what combination of variables contributed to it, but the seating position was one of the best I’ve ever felt. It felt purpose built just for me. If you want to re-fall in love with your car, get a good seat. Get a seat you love because it will make your car.
There isn’t much more I can say other than the fact that I love the genesis. It’s a masterpiece of Korean engineering, and one of the most underrated cars on sale today.

2 different Genesis reviews on your channel = instant sub! I’ve got a 2013 3.8 Track myself and I feel all the comments you made about the car are spot on! Never driven a first gen before, but I’ve driven a second gen 2.0T and they’re each fun in their own way. From a daily driver perspective, you can’t go wrong with getting one of these bro. You should try out an 8 speed in the second gens and see how they compare to the manuals cause I’m sure there’s a huge difference comparing the bk1 6spd auto to the bk2 6spd manual.👍🏻

Giving a like literally just for the ‘lower than my self esteem’ comment.

5:39 I find it funny that you like the seating position. As a tall guy, I feel like I have to recline the seat *way* back, practically to the point where I feel like I'm almost laying down, to keep my head from hitting the roof! Fun car, though; you eventually get used to the awkward seating position.

It sucks because I LOVE the 1st gen’s looks INFINITELY more than the 2nd, but they went hard on the 2nd gen’s performance and whatnot so it makes my desire for a 1st gen feel flawed…
