My 2014 f350 4 pin has lights not working but both 7 pins work fine. I just haven't looked into it any further now you've got me interested in it.

Does programming it to as built version only affect the TRM? I've heard horror stories of people having their trucks serviced and their custom tune gets erased! 😟
You can as built data any module if you cant exhale the old data from your module ur trying to replace. Horror stories.....1. The foolios shlda known it was deleted to begin with 2. Thats what mister customer gets in the first place...programming others modules in the body, do not affect ECU programming.

I have a 16 550 with a message trailer connected then left and right turn signal fault then trailer randomly disconnected, with no trailer ever connected. I figured I have some corrosion somewhere. I haven’t looked at it yet but at least I know where the trailer module is located. Thank you.
Probably not ur issue but yes I would definitely check your circuits back there....specially under da dump!
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod does the trailer module not send out a bias voltage? I figured it was like a brake controller that sends out a bias voltage and when the trailer was plugged in it grounded the bias voltage telling the module the trailer was plugged in. I though there might be corrosion dropping the voltage but no extra load on the turn signal circuits making it fault on those circuits. It’s just a guess, we don’t run any trailers on it so it’s not really a problem I just hate error messages and cel’s
Thanks for the video! Had my trailer module go out recently in my 2016 f250 6.7 xlt super duty. Granted I used it a lot before it went bad. Short in one of my trailers didn't help... still under warranty would this job be covered by any Ford dealer?
I mean id warranty it. I dont see why other store wont...

You must have tested voltage of the running light circuit pin out at the rear of the vehicle before proceeding to the module under the dash? Or did the eManual immediately send you under the dash?
1:19 he says he verified at the 7 pin connector it was only getting about 2 volts.
No, i verified their concern, @ the rear round standard 7-pin....then proceeded with my own PPT upstream of the supplying circuit....which determined to be a failed TRM.

Can this be a plug and play replacement module? Or do you have to go through the programming?

Did you replace the trailer running light fuse too? Idk what happened but the running lights stopped working on my dump trailer and it popped fuses in my 2019 and 2006. Took trailer to dealer and they replaced front harness but couldn’t explain why it happened... I can’t wait to test my trm tomo now

Something similar is happening to my trailer. Every light on my truck is LED but my trailer is all incandescent. I am replacing my trailer light housings with all LEDs. I’ve seen weird things happen with mixed LED and incandescent setups.
When replacing the module, was it necessary to use IDS or could you have simply swapped the module with no computer programming?
Nope, an IDS must have. All these new modules hafta being configured to the truck with As-built data in some cases

After the module replacement and programming, you test with lights off and it still puts 2.4 volts out? Why, is that why it cost $300 for new batteries? This constant drain?

I misread....no it does not regulate the 12v. Its just 12 then 14 ish when running

I have a 2011f550 with no trailer the message comes up trailer wiring fault. I am thinking they used the trailer wiring to run the lights on the dump body. So it could be this module..?

Hello, I have a question I have a 2019 F350 and I have no auxiliary lights to my horse trailer. It has a switch for the tack room and sleeping area. No power. Battery charges and everything. Trailer was tested at dealer, I don't have auxillary light power from the truck. I cannot figure out what fuse it is or what is wrong. I am thinking its the same problem from your video but i have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi, im working on a 2018 F-350 6.7 4x4 crew cab, for one of my customers, it has the trailer control module, but according to diagrams the bcm prime the internal bcm relay to prime the unserviceable trailer control relay, which is inside the ft juntion box, i suspect the last relay went out since acording to diagram the trailer control relay gets power from trailer control relay in juntion box, and if i unplug the TRM and apply power to brown ckt then i have power to trailer parking light system. any help or recommendations?

I work at a Chevy dealer. Must say ford has this figured out better than Chevy does. Chevy mounts the module above the spare tire carrier. Stupid. Gets covered in salt, I’ve seen 2016s with holes in these modules from corrosion and service trailer brake message on the dash.

PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod yes sir been there a bit now working in the truck shop. All I touch is pickups, vans the occasional burb or Escalade and medium dutys. Loving it so far.
I messaged you several months ago about my truck and you told me several things to do to it and that was what was wrong with several things you told me but they are still something wrong with it i have put new filters in gas tank, put new fuel pump, ICP, new rebuilt injectors,new valve cover gasket and harnesses new CPS and all the parts were genuine Ford parts motorcraft and it won't run on nothing but starting fluid when you stop spraying it it will run a few seconds and then start to have a knocking sounds from the injectors could it be the ipr or hpop going bad i have about giving up on it any help would be appreciated thank you. Buster
Oh yes and i sent the PCM and IDM off to have them tested the IDM was good the PCM had a few problems and they fixed them
You obviously are not getting fuel hence it runs on starting fluid. Is the bowl filling up? Maybe your not achieving injection pressures...
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod i don't believe it getting injector pressure would it be the hpop or IPR it's getting 60 psi fuel pressure

From a customer perspective....it is a bit disheartening another repair that seems to be proprietary due to “software” availability.
If your vehicle has electronics......then thats the way its gonna be. If everyone could fix their own vehicle there would be no us

Trailer disconnected warning keeps coming on then goes back to connected all the lights work just brake dosen't. Would that be same problem
