  • The running lights on the trailer stopped working so I did some troubleshooting and found the issue to be with the TOW controller computer.

All you have to do is bare a short thin wire and jump batt. To running at the plug.
Put wire in two ports where the tab is on plug

Thanks for video. Another temporary fix is connect marker light wire on trailer to 12 charge on trailer.

Saved me brother! Fixed it on the road. Tire on the trailer blew out and ripped the trailer wires. Must've blown the fuse at the same time.

Dude you saved me, I hooked up just the way you did. When i got the upfitter #1 it was brown/green and it had a 30" leader on it already. I passed it through the hole into the cab, cut the brown wire as you said from the brake control module top harness and hooked it up. WORKS PERFECT!!You saved me man. Thanks. Oh yeah, this is a permanent fix for me. I love it!

my temp fix was electrical taping 2 led headlamps on the red light mode with a white led light taped over the tag for a tag light since they like to pull you over for no tag light, my brakes lights / turn signals work, 2005 lincoln navigator

Hi....didi you install a new module yet? if so did it work? I have a 2017 6.2 Plat with no trailer running lights. 7 pin has 3.4v at the running light pin....my control module also reads 3.4v.
I have brakes and all other light functions.
Fuses all good as well as all connector at rear. trailer has been tested. First time hooking a trailer to my 2017, and wouldn't know it.....no running lights :(

Not yet, I need to do that. Thanks for the reminder! So many things to fix, this always gets bumped to the bottom of the list now that I have a working solution.

I wish I had upfitters, I’d probably do the same. I’m going to buy a module I guess, hopefully that’s my issue. Thanks for the video.

I watch a couple more videos on the Control module, and I'm pretty sure if you purchase a new module from Ford you will have to have it programed by them....even though the part number match. I'm still not a 100% sure though, going to see if Ford will give me that info.

@@Chris-qv9cn Hey Chris. I had the same issue. I was putting 2.8 out on the brown wire off the module underneath the dash. I discovered that it was a blown fuse. This was after I had tried to tap into a tail light and had planned on running a relay of my own to protect the rest of the system. It was after I had tested The continuity of the brown wire off of the module by putting 12 V to it and then getting a strong signal at the four pin and seven pin is a hitch. The fuse is number 28 the relay is number 25. The relay was fine, but the fuse was blown. A 25 amp mini fuse. In the manual under fuses and relays there is a redundancy and both of those positions are labeled as “trailer tow park lamp relay”. 2015 Navigator. Hope this helps. Also, I discovered this after I had ordered the module. $114 from Ford. And yes an hour of programming is required. Full refund in the part as I figured it out before it was sent.

@@goddom Hey Matthew. Take a look at my reply to Chris above If you haven’t tackled this yet. You might just have a blown fuse.
