    Very useful thanks James. I've not considered the MVP23 before, it sounds superb. You're doing a great job with these videos!

    Truly, as I mentioned in a comment not so long ago on the same video, I now have both of the amplifiers, of course and love them both using them for different reasons but no doubt fantastic I don’t miss the harshness of my marshals. I still have my Friedman Shirley, but that’s the only amplifiers now that I use it all truly are those three thank you again. This demo truly helped me make a decision and now I have everything I want it just took a while because none of them are cheap and you get what you pay for in this world, but these are definitely pro level And I have put them on the road as well and had no troubles. Great stuff thanks guy demo as usual. 4:34

    I've had my Fillmore 25 for 2 weeks now and I seriously wonder why I even need gain pedals (other than fuzz) anymore. It is so delicious.

    As usual, I'm late to the party. I had a Mesa Boogie Fillmore and loved it. I ended up selling it years ago. I just bought a Morgan MVP 66. Although this video is not the 66, its so incredibly helpful and confirms the thoughts I had of the Fillmore.

    Making sure the onboard speaker is going into the Adam load will allow you to use the Iron Man mini power attenuator for 30 W and under amplifiers. This could be another option for folks who are trying to overcome that hurdle and trust me. It’s a reactive load attenuator just like the high end Iron Man and also you have the bad cat attenuator as well which comes in around 400 bucks The Bugera PS1 will knock it down to 50% power so you’ve knocked it down there to a 5 W amplifier and at 2 W still going to be fairly loud but no doubt preserving tone. I think you could dial in some pretty decent. Sounds even if you had to add a tube screamer to get where you wanted to be but definitely I’ve used it myself with the Bad cat and I bedroom tones and it is no problem having it on board. The doctor see attenuator can be put inside of the amplifier another option. Truly, there are some lesser expensive options because otherwise most of the higher in amp do not have fantastic power scaling no Friedman amps have it however they have a great master volume, but so does the boogie Still there is no guarantee on drives what you’re going to get for a tone “bedroom tone“ lol 13:22 13:27 13:35

    I actually am going to trade my Morgan for the boogie Fillmore truly it is certainly more versatile. I do prefer the solid-state rectifier and the power scaling on the MVP as I think about it more and look at the pricing actually may just keep them both fantastic blues without a doubt, I have played my MVP 23 for about two years now in practice and rehearsal of course I use some hall reverb and a little delay. Truly, I was told if I could get the sound I wanted dry then I could get it anywhere anytime so that’s how I practice either way great killer demo killer tones, loving these amp man the Fillmore point to point hand wired it does have PCB board in it as well. In certain places there is some hand wiring. The sockets are wired, but still not completely thanks. Damn thing sounds like a beast man you’re killing it. Think I will run the Fillmore through the MVP and through 2 x 12 Friedman that should be an interesting result listening to this is giving me great ideas Fillmore on its way thanks, Cuz. 16:50

    Thank you for the great work! I have a MVP23 for 2 years now and i'm loving it. Next will surely be a Two Rock Studio Signature, a Mesa Boogie Fillmore, a Hook Lenny... or another Morgan, like a PR12.
    I think that the cleans of the Morgan are really great, with some "balls". I'm mainly a strat guy and i usually have bass at 13, mids at 13, Treble at 11, vol at 14 and gain at 10.

    I love both amps... I have a biased with Mesa, but the Morgan MVP is the MVP here (IMHO, pun intended :D )
    I’d love Mesa to release a mini California 25 head... apparently the Fillmore and California were developed around the same time and using some similar circuitry (and same 6V6). So a small Cali-Tweed:25 head, similar to the Mesa Mark V:25 would be awesome.

    Do you find that the Fillmore has much background hiss? I have heard people complain about the “Mesa hiss” with other models. I like quiet amps! Oh and I absolutely love the fawn covering on your Fillmore 25!

  • @doggorman

    I think alot of players need to put away their snobbymess and Cork Sniffing Altitude that I once had
    That only vintage and handwired Boutique amps can only sound good!
    They need to become aware and shake off that cork sniffing attitude
    And understand that a Mesa boogie amp is built like a tank with high quality components and the circuit is something of beauty and Genius and Quality like no other
    Mesa Boogie is a Professioanl Amplifier and A musical instrument on its own.
    I MYSELY CONSIDER MY MESA Boogie every bit a Boutique Sounding ampand Boutique Quality Build inside and out
    For YearsI have been Enjoying my Lonestar Special .
    But lately Ive wanted to try something more American sounding
    After watching a few videos from James
    I finally pulled the trigger and ordered and Purchased a brand new Boogie amp
    A Fillmore 25!
    Love the size and shape and sound of coarse from what I've seen as I haven't played one yet .
    Also Love that it looks alot more simple without tons of Bells and whistles.
    Dont get me wrong I m keeping my lonestar special as I live the El84s also
    But I love that American sound thst you really can't get with an amp using el84s
    So the fillmore has a pair of 6V6s,
    I wonder along with its circuit if I will notice the different sounding tubes?
    I'd love to keep my comments much shorter working on it
    Great video Cheers!

    I know they are worlds apart in cost but is there a way you can compare the Fillmore to one of your Two Rocks? And maybe what the best is for home use. Thanks for the awesome videos! Keep them coming!

    • @JamesOnGuitar
      @JamesOnGuitar  3 года назад

      I’ve been thinking about it actually. I just dont want to make the Mesa look bad - I’m not saying it definitely would, but the Two Rock amps are hard to compare to! It would probably make a good video and help some people make a decision either way though! I’ll work on it 👍🏼

    • @adamstark3537

      @@JamesOnGuitar I totally agree that, other than a Dumble a Two Rock is pretty much king, if that is what you are into and going on your gear and the people it will bring to your channel I think most will agree. Id like to see how close a Mesa Fillmore will get to a CRS. And if spending double or triple is with it or will a Mesa get you 90% there. But of course it’s all subjective.

  • @graemero5532
    @graemero5532 3 года назад

    As you know James, I love the Morgan. It just sounds way better to me. If you want another channel just step on the drive pedal of your choice, you need to step on the footswitch for the Mesa too. Same with the reverb, step on your fave reverb. No effects loop, don't care, never used one.

    • @JamesOnGuitar
      @JamesOnGuitar  3 года назад +1

      I love them both! You’re right, valid points... there’s never just one way to lay out all the possible thoughts! As i think i implied, the morgan probably has the best tone, but it is subjective! Anyway, thanks for putting me onto the amp in the first place 👍🏼

    Hi all, SORRY, at around minute 9 i mention the lowest db you can really use the amps at, but forgot to include the Morgan numbers. I got it up to 112db and down to around 76-77db using the power scaling and it still sounded good! Hey! That question is always hard to answer, not knowing what type of band and venues. Generally it is going to be enough, but being that the 50 doesn’t cost too much more, if clean headroom is the goal that might be a better option. Cheers

      Totally get your point! I guess they are not as personal and handmade as the more pricey boutique amps, but on the other hand the ambition and philosophy behind them fits that idea of being boutique as opposed to mass produced. A fine line i think...
