It was quite something, looking south over Heathrow. So dark, so early. Thw sunset afterwards was genuinely breathtakingly gorgeous. Sky on fire. And now looking at an Indian summer coming. Crazy times
Had the same Saturday and Sunday here in sussex, it was like a tropical storms one after another and the wind ! We actually had multiple red and bright blue lightening strikes!
Wow, I love watching these kinds of storms roll in. It almost looked like it wanted to turn into a tornado when I saw how black and dark the clouds were as they moved in. So glad it wasn't any worse than this for you! I so enjoy watching these kinds of videos. Thank you!!
I'm in North London and this was an awesome storm. I just made it indoors before the heavens opened. I love a good storm and this certainly didn't disappoint. Great video.
Thank you for sharing the storm so much energy. I'm going to watch it again later. Take care. We had a lot of rain. Today picking up leaves. A lovely job. Again thank you.
Wow!! what an amazing video!! I'm scared of thunderstorms but at the same time it's fascinating. So I always try to film it too. Greetings from the netherlands.
This was chaotic! I was actually inbound into Heathrow from my flight from Frankfurt at the time. We had to stay in the air and make lots of loops before finally arriving into Heathrow where it was pouring down heavily and the visibility was very low. It was crazy but managed to land just fine 😮💨
Hi guys, I visited a friend yesterday who lives in Pimlico. The storm hit us about 5.15 pm. Never seen lightning like it. Stuck around till 9pm then ventured home. Thanks for sharing!! 🙂
Wow!!! I love watching storms and you have a great view from the top of your house. That sunset sky was spectacular Richard, thank you so much for showing us this!
WOW ! I do LOVE a good storm. As child we visited family living on a ranch, their house had a tin roof. The sound of rain on that roof has stuck with me my life so far. Today I live in an old OLD house with a Slate roof, that's lovely when it storms, three stories up, windows, sounds, no lights in the attic. Quite the experience 💞. Thoroughly enjoy all you bring to us. Especially Love how you are together. Thank You For Being YOU❤️
Wonderful video Richard. You do gets some ferocious storms don’t you. I was watching Big Jet TV earlier and Jerry the owner commentator was standing out in the storm throughout it….incredible to watch storms like this moving through an area. Thank you for this. I love weather and actually found your channel when you had posted an incredible storm video a few years ago. This was fantastic. The dark, ominous clouds and lightning, thunder you captured were amazing. I have read lightening is more frequent now and not just the sky to ground type but ground lightning to cloud is increasing as well
Oh Richard this was spectacular!!! The colours at the end, the rainbow... everything! I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you so much for sharing Richard xx
In the caravan park I was staying in, in Essex, the whole sky became black! It looked like the night but it was still bright on the other side of the sky
Oh wow, Richard! You got some FABULOUS lightning strikes! I LOVE a good thunderstorm. Such a great vantage point and view from high up in your house. I froze the frame with some of the lightning strikes...so awesome. And, I was thinking when I saw the sun setting, that you might have a nice rainbow! Thank you for sharing that lovely storm.
look at that wall cloud at the far back really amazing. this storm was really bad as it came to Essex and the wind felt like a tornado sounds crazy but being out in it and just watching it definitely havnt seen a storm like that in a good while
Don't be man i have been outside in heavy thunderstorms and I'm still here if you are under no trees not in a open field not the highest point then you are good
@@Bunnies_6560 hitting the house isn't dangerous if you are not touching anything that is charging or in a port but yeah about the sound I can't help you with that I used to think it was drumming from above
You're not alone there cos I'd be doing the same if I was on my own. Childhood experience gave me a lifelong phobia of thunderstorms, particularly night-time ones. I could be almost out on my feet but just the tiniest flash of lightning and/or the most distant rumble of thunder would have all thoughts of getting any sleep going straight out of the window. And, because we lived in a prefab, the roof was metal so rain, especially during a storm, sounded like bullets. That did a lot to calm me down, I don't think! I'm a pensioner now but I'm still a nervous wreck when old Thor is having a real good bash upstairs!
Great storm. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a nice hot pot of tea and perhaps a few shortbread cookies to enjoy while you watch the show. The sunset was lovely too. Stay safe and cozy.
You guys definitely got a grandstand view of this storm. Those twin bolts of lightning at 3:06 were incredible. This same storm went on to slam my location here in Hertfordshire. Can honestly say I cannot remember more frequent or intense lightning, torrential rain or wind as this thunderstorm. And it came from seemingly nowhere. Half hour before it was overcast but calm. Just blew up suddenly. The fact this all happened in late October just makes it even more bizarre. Almost convinced this was a supercell storm. This may be a fairly regular occurrence in America but for Britain it was phenomenal.
Incredible footage. I've never seen a storm before with dark clouds being so frightening and beautiful all at once, and where the storm flashes fiercely and roars gently. And to top it all off, you caught a breathtaking sunset. What a treat. If I may ask, what kind of cameras do you use? I want to capture video and stills as beautifully as you do.
I love thunderstorms! Have since I was a child. I always count after seeing a lightning strike 1,2 3 4 5⚡crack! I heard its a mile away for every second you count between the flash and the thunderstorm's clap is how far the lightning strike is from you. So 5 miles is 5 seconds. No idea if it's true, but to this day i still count ☺
Hi Guys long time....hope all well...Can't beat a good thunderstorm...looks like a supercell you get in America...Had nothing like this in Birmingham just Rain...Excellent footage Richard..stay safe
Wow thank you so much for this. It was terrifying, my poor cat was petrified of the storm. One thunderclap was very intense, we both got away from the window.
I used to LOVE storms like this but after 3 storms last year with hurricane force winds I get scared now. I live about as close to Antarctica as you can get. Tropical storms like we got are not normal.
I live across the border in Leicestershire, it was the same storm system, that effected SE England, East Anglia, Belgiem, Netherlands and Northern France.
Hiya Richard, WOW indeed Thankyou for capturing the storm I do love! I think around 3:06 amazing bolt looked as though it had roots! Lol also did I hear approx 6:00 someone whistling for their pet? Yes i may have watched a few times lol. This was a lovely treat take care Luv Ontario Canada 🐝🇨🇦
Just an amazing video Richard, I do love a good thunder and lightning storm, sadly we never seem to get them here, I think it is because where we live in Wilshire it is in a valley, thanks so much for taking the time to film this, Pauls email went into the spam so Sharon has only just seen it today, she has sent a reply, thanks again, Terry.

Thank you. Yes storm chasing is something that always appeals to me to, but we just don't seem to have many here.
As you know I am scared of thunder,,but your video was brilliant and your sunset is beautiful 🤗 thank you 🌸

Yes it was our neighbour summoning their cat which was probably in our garden.
what causes the lightening
Lightning is basically a big electrical spark in the atmosphere.
@@RichardandPaul thank you

We don't get them very often and this one seemed to move by very quickly. Glad you found the email!
That’s amazing footage! I can’t believe how dark those clouds are! Do you ever get tornadoes there? Very ominous!
We do get tornadoes yes.

Is it fair to say that thunderstorms are capable of beauty? That their violence can be beautiful? I saw beauty. I felt fear. I am conflicted.
Oh definitely. I always get that excited but slightly scared feeling too...I like that!
