Mayuri vs Pernida has begun! What did you think of today's episode of TYBW? Will the anime do this fight justice? Are we really getting Kyoraku vs Lille next week? I'd love to hear your thoughts down below - thanks everyone!
Honestly, I didn't like the episode that much. Don't get me wrong, it was fine, but something just didn't feel that good about it to me. Maybe I came in with too high expectations, but it just didn't feel as good as the manga to be. (I also don't like Mayuri very much, which also contributes to that feeling, I guess).
I thought that pernida's voice was weird at first but then I thought to myself what if this is the soul king's voice since pernida is the only part of him that can speak then it had to be that also sounds mature enough for the soul king right?or am I tripping😅
16:21 I think the reason why Pernida is seemingly sticking to the floor is because it's using its nerves to keep itself upright. I think it's evident when, at the beginning of the fight, Pernida releases a bunch of nerves from the base of the arm. And for the swaying tree motions, it's prolly because it's struggling to maintain equilibrium.
Beyond Lille keeping an eye on Uryu, I thought the scene was suggesting that Uryu was protecting Renji from getting sniped by engaging him in a fight, giving him intel, and packing him up so Lille would think he was dead.
I think why pernidas voice keeps changing and why it keeps moving is because it's the arm that governs advancement. So the voice cycles from young to old to young, and it's swaying because it can't stay still. At least that's how I'm choosing to rationalize it lol
That's absolutely why. It was only staying still because of the chains. Something that governs advancement and makes it "compulsory" would never sit still.
Yeah pernida contradicts itself by being what it is. Being the arm itself it governs advancement but on the other hand being compulsory means things are the way they are by requirement
@@darknesswave100 It doesn't necessarily contradict itself. "Compulsory" means obligatory or required, it can also mean (in its opinion) obligatory or required evolution, like it's forcing itself/others to evolve and growth without any consideration for what the outcome will be
The swaying I believe is to show how childish he is currently, which is also shown in the way he reacts and talks, which is probably going to change as he advances and 'grow up' as the fight progresses.
Tommo, that scene with Lille I believe was to show that Uryuu seemingly killed Renji to prevent Lille from killing him. It feels like it's meant to take the place of that scene in the manga where Uryuu gets in the way of Lille shooting Ichigo.
Uryu even positioned himself for the last Shot inbetween Lillie and Renji hes BLOCKING his shot path that way he can see he doesnt want him to interfere. Hes a smart guy probably the 2nd smartest person in the series he actually kicked Mayuris ass who is the first smartest guy in the series. So Never underestimate uryu and how smart he is. He knows what hes doing.

You know, I've just realised smth. I was always questioning on how Pernida was able to break his chains. Because when it revealed itself as The Left Arm of SK, the chain had already been broken. But then, I get it. It was Zaraki's attack that broke that chain. And after that it was no problem for Pernida to get free after.
I love how Pernida is depicted in the anime. Very creepy and lots of body horror. Very effective and a great matchup. Can’t wait for next week’s episode.
After surving an assult, being treated by Ukitake and washing his hands. Zaraki is again out of comission. For Kubo's favorite to take over the episode. I think Frieza never laughed so hard.
I think the main problem with the cgi is that in the scenes where they’re not fighting and it’s just pernida on the screen, they make his fingers move weirdly and he moves around weirdly. But I think the whole approach of pernida in the anime is supposed to be weird and other worldly.
That was exactly the point of the animation for Pernida. This fight, Pernida vs Mayuri, was supposed to be two monsters, freaks, abominations, fighting against each other.
@@troytheboy1985at the beggining of the fight pernida is canonically an idiod. He is standing there trying very hard to understand wtf mayuri is talking about and being like "uuuuh... u insulting me?" Its the idea.
@@DarkEpyon123 The problem is it's not weird or other worldy. Pernida's movements just look bad, not unnerving. it standing still and looming over the battlefield would be so much better. That's why that's how it was portrayed in the manga.
@@troytheboy1985 Dont UNDERESTIMATE Mayuri hes talking to Pernida because hes curious if Pernida is going to learn anything from what he says. Hes TRACKING his progress by yapping alot. Mayuri is so fucking smart its almost insane. hes Definitely insane for sure.
This fight is so wonderfully weird and the anime seems like it is going to really captured that. Also, I love Mayuri's laugh at the end, his VA really is fantastic!
"Don't Chase a Shadow" is the first chapter exclusively dedicated to Kyoraku vs Lille, so I think they'll finish Pernida's fight next week and start Lille's towards the end of the episode I think the reason the ep 35 preview focuses on Kyoraku instead of Mayuri or Nemu is they want anime onlys to believe Pernida is dead. If it was Mayuri you'd obviously know the fight isn't over yet
I could see that and then the next episode's poem would be Nanao-focused for her role in that fight. It would be sick if the voice actress for Kyoraku's zanpaktou spirit had a poem too.
@@lucasfranke5161 I hope this is the case because it's weird to switch between fights imagine Kyoraku ending with saying bankai next week and the week after that is Nemu's episode.
Don't think I agree. That would mean they adapt about 6 chapters next week. There hasn't been pacing like that all season long. Taguchi already said in a recent interview that he wants to show the fights happening simultaneously, and the only way to do that is to adapt Shunsui's material next week. Also the picture on the poem is literally his Bankai.
Mayuri's Maniacal Laughter at the end was PERFECT... Absolutely ***PERFECT***... Chilling and so so so fitting to the character... I can't stop watching it back.
I disagree, given that pernida was able to produce sound to express anger, pernida expressing fear through sound is very much reasonable and it adds a sense of gruesomeness being eaten by ashisogi jizo.
I mean I think it’s scary cause we know it’s advancing so now it’s experienced true fear and desperation imagine advancing in that way. I think it’s interesting that it can’t sit still because it’s constantly moving forward
@@troytheboy1985 Pernida probably couldn't communicate then, it advances through what it chooses to absorb with its nerves. Though, it used its nerves on several foes before Kenpachi. Only Kenpachi it chose to absorb- possibly sensing his power.
@@Trippyrockstarr yeah, they kind of lacking with right musical choices for certain big scenes, this is one of them. Another was when Aizen used his improved Kurohitsigi.... they didn't feel as impactful without god tier music.
@@Ephideltrance Bro what are you talking about? The music in this episode was insanely good, so much so that I noticed it immediately, which I rarely do with anime until my second watch (I can agree with Kurohitsugi, but it's also kinda nice quiet idk).
I like to think that in that opening scene with renji. that uryu knew lille was watching him and did the same kind if “i’ll shoot him here so he doesnt get ACTUALLY killed by the other guys” thing. In my mind Lille was about to take the shot if uryu hesitated
I'm fine with them breaking up the fights if its structured like Mayuri and shunsui seemingly defeat both Pernida and Lille with their bankai and then the next episode is showing both of them surviving the bankai and switch between both of them being cornered and then their lieutenants come in.
The cgi makes Pernida look incredibly creepy, which makes sense considering it's a severed left hand with eyes that's talking. Splitting up the fights does make sense if they want us to feel what it's like for these characters in a war. Multiple fights would be happening at the same time. They may also end these fights with it looking like the soul reapers are winning, only to pull the rug from underneath us later.
That fetus feeded further my theory that this isn't actually a bankai, rather Mayuri using failed Nemu projects to impregnate his zanpaktō spirit which explains how his bankai works after being taken over and destroyed in arrancar arc and for this battle modified - he just impregnated his zanpaktō spirit again with another sample from his previously failed experiment. (He became a capitan soon after completing Nemuri project and he isn't the type to communicate with his blade and builda bond)
Mayuri's slingshot man and froggy umbrellas were hilarious, I don't remember if those were in the manga. It just highlights how casually awful Mayuri is, like these clearly suffering creatures are just his playthings to be used and discarded.
I actually think the CG worked in the context of this episode. Very unsettling. The second half of the fight will be where its quality is put to a true test.
They can do something crazier than just splitting the fights in non-continuous episodes, they might do like Castlevania' season 3 where all major events happen in parallel at the climax of the season. Just imagine Mayuri vs Pernida, Kyoraku vs Lille and Baaz-B vs Haschwalth ending all on one/two breath-taking climax episodes.
I guess for anime only watchers, the anime wants them to think this is the end of the battle only to pull the rug under their feet and continue it later. So the reason for continuing next episode with Shunsui and Lille would be to further instil this impression to viewers?
Senjumaru bankai, zanka no tachi south and futen taisatsuryo all look amazing and are cg but then you have Komomuras bankai, roses bankai ( i actually think this one looked good people say komomuras bankai benefits from the cgi to look otherworldly but it fits better for rose tbh) and pernida.
i actually like how uneasy Pernida looks. the different voices and restlessness of its body kinda speaks to his concept of representing advancement. Also thinking he hasn’t been i. that form in a long time, maybe controlling the sheer size of its “body” takes a while
I personally love the way Pernida looks. I think the CGI looks really well and blends with the color pallete they have going. Its constant movement makes sense considering its a lateral being so the rules of gravity would mean to hold itself up straight and look at its enemy it would be swaying quite a bit. Im someone who only notices truly egregious CGI so this doesnt bother me at all.
Here’s my thoughts on how their doing the release of these fights. This episode ends with Mayuri seemingly defeating Pernida using his Bankai, so I’m willing to bet that next episode will end with Lille seemingly being defeated by Kyoraku’s bankai. Then maybe we get a post credit or maybe the start of episode 36 is the reveal that neither bankai worked, and then we continue with Mayuri vs Pernida, and episode 37 is the rest of Kyoraku vs Lille. Which leaves episodes 38 and 39 for Friend and Bazz B vs Haschwalth
@@defro125 Not every fight has new stuff...this fight with Mayuri plays out exactly like the manga. Bazz B is way way weaker than Haschwalt, so no way should that fight take long. Especially as Bazz B is even weaker losing his volstandig and portion of his power.
I like the idea of Pernida trying out different voices at it evolves. If it does even more voices later then I think it will work out very well. As for the CGI, it will always be a hot topic. You either love or hate it. In this case I like it, though I hope they use it sparingly in the future.
What you said about the battles is what I felt as well. I just wish they would go straight through the battles instead of panning to the others. We’ll see next week. Also, I loved this episode because I instantly loved this battle in the manga as this was the only final battle that was fleshed out from beginning to end. I get why some won’t love it. However, splitting up the battles is something I don’t like. I thought they would have learned from what they did with Unohana/Kenpachi and Ichigo at the palace.
It is safe to assume Pernida can manipulate not just its overall size but the size of its fingers, hence how it fits in the tiny cloak...and as it gets struck, is it palm opening more...but the chains restricted him from opening fully until broken.
This is arguably the fight that I have been most excited for this season. And so far, I think they have adapted it great! Really captured the weirdness of the fight so far. The rest of the fight is going to be so fire🔥🔥
(See comment on Patreon) but I wanna say again. I can’t help but LOVE how the finger chased and turned into a new hand. It was CRAZY. My parents where so weirded out when they saw this episode! Loved it all!
I’ve been loving the additions to every battle. Very excited for the Bass B vs Haschwalth fight. This is a definite pipe dream of mine but I’d freaking love to see Bass B somehow get ahold of the Quincy Medallion that holds Zanka no Tachi and attempt to use it in the fight. Reasoning : -Bass B has a basic understanding of the strength of Yama’s Zanpakuto both shikai and bankai and knows his own flames come close to matching the strength of Yama’s shikai. -I don’t believe it’s been stated that the only the person who can use the stolen bankai is the one who stole it. (I’m probably wrong about this one though) -I don’t believe Ywhach would ever use Yama’s bankai and would probably leave it lying out in the open and unguarded like a piece of trash as a continued insult to Yama. I don’t remember if it’s been confirmed that a stolen bankai disappears if the original owner dies. (Probably wrong on this one as well)
Unchecked, compulsory advancement is not always going to be comfortable or wanted. Or even accepted. The constant movement, voice change, and changing of the nerves just lends to his nature. I like how the CGI lent too, and in a way enhanced, the eldritch nature of Pernida.
You know how it kept moving constantly? What if that was on purpose. Cause like you said, it’s the hand of advancement. It can’t sit still. It has to move, and “advance”, constantly.
Another good reaction! Me personally I love Pernida's CGI and it's idle animation looking whenever he's in shot, I also agree when they show his full arm and you see the hand animation waving like, I did not like it.
I never finished the manga, so my perspective’s different than yours, but this was my favorite episode of the season. It was one of the few that didn’t feel like it was meandering to stall out the last few chapters of the series. Pernida looks weird, but I feel like that was intentional. He’s part of a being that transcends existence, he shouldn’t fit in with the rest of the world around him. Using CGI only adds to that imposing, creepy presence. I hope they’re not splitting up the fights, though. I assumed this one would get wrapped up in the first half and then the Kyoraku battle would begin in the second. We’ll see next week, though!
I think you forget how hard it is to draw hands, let alone animate one. And a bunch of focus is going to be given pernida a hand So they needed an easy way to get it out and they'll probably Polish it up in the blu-ray release.
I personally liked the CGI. Adds to the “weirdness” of Pernida, but I still would have liked Pernida's eyes to glow. We still need to see how they execute the second half of the fight to judge it.
Episode 400!!!! === This episode had much better pacing than I thought it would have. My only regret with this episode is that Hanataro's comedic scenes from the end of each chapter in this part of the story were cut since it's basically him reacting to being collateral damage from Mayuri vs Pernida and I hoped to see them as an omake. === I love that Pernida is voiced by Bin Shimada (Broly in Dragon Ball) since that means this is his second fight with Ryūsei Nakao (Freeza and Mayuri) except this time it's a fight of intelligence and self-evolution rather than sheer power and endurance. === Fun Fact: The characters on either side of the incision line on the front of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō: Matai Fukuin Shōtai (金色疋殺地蔵・魔胎伏印症体, Golden Leg-Cutting Jizō: Demonic Womb Covering Seal Symptomatic Body; Viz "Demonic Recumbent Womb") are, when put together, the kanji for "Prostrate/Bend Down" (伏). === Just so you know, in order to create realism of being in a war, there is going to be a lot of jumping around between the fights to show they are happening at the same time.
What you gotta do Tommo is imagine the hand is in a Fist rather than an open hand when under the hood. Now make a Fist and and you can ripple your fingers and kind of make it look like a wave. Honestly this was like Smash Bros Master Hand fight.
Pernida just staying still would be weird, he's not standing on two legs. He's trying to keep his balance. As he evolves, I expect him to become a better fighter, less reactive like a baby or child and more balanced - don't forget that he has been chained in his "child" form until now, his power bound somehow. As for Pernidas' voice, it makes full sense - the Soul King's left arm represents advancement. It goes from a small child to a middle aged man, as it should. I expect the second part of the fight that Pernidas will have a more older man, mature voice and will be able to keep its' balance better than so far. The whole episode is meant to represent advancement, evolution on Pernidas. In regards to splitting up the fights, I'm also in the fence about it but... let's see how they do the transition next week and hold our judgement until then.
I didn't like the CG much at first, but over the episode I liked it more as the unnatural movements looked more intentional, showing how different it is from the shinigami
I think it's cool that Gerard is the only one who likes and trusts Uryu. It just shows the difference in their personalities. Either way, I my favorite part was Pernida's baby voice cause that's how I always pictured his voice because he always reminded me of a Jawa.
I think the possible reason for the potential split is they want to get across the point that these fights are happening simultaneously to make it feel more like a war and create a vibe of chaos.
They're trying to subvert us and make us think the shinigami has won relatively easily then once we have al the first half of the fights covered part 2 of the battles will begin. Next ep will end with kyoraku using his bankai on Lille, cutting his head off. I don't think they will give pernida a proper vollstandig though. I know they have him a unique one last cour but that's cos the schutzstaffel all got revived and all had partial vollstandig wings. But as for a proper full one I don't think he's getting one cos I don't see them changing or adding additional content to any of the schutzstaffel fights tbh cos they;re all already long enough and fleshed out as it is. The only additional content needed to expand fights that I can think of would be bazz-b vs haschwalth (maybe) it would be cool to see bazz b actually using his vollstandig but he cant now due to Auswälen, Uryu vs Haschwalth with both of them using vollstandig, and the final fight with yhwach, ichigo, renji and aizen. Oh also chad needs to have a fight too lmao
I've been seeing some discourse about how "slow"-seeming this fight is. And honestly, I think it's just because neither of these two, Pernida and Mayuri, fight like how you would expect people in Bleach to fight. Pernida relies on its nerves and Mayuri on his gadgets, so I think there's not really a lot of things you can do to make it appear "smoother", so to speak. And to be frank, I think this works _well_ for this fight. The weirdness really elevates it, at least for me.
Pernida being CG is really weird looking, but since it will move a lot later in the fight, i've seen someone saying that maybe they did it this way so it wasnt so jarring going from hand-drawn to CGI. I was expecting a really creepy voice from Pernida, not this old man voice. At first i thought its Yuha's voice actor.
Ah yes, evil Batman finally unleashed! Dude's amazing. Love the evil music they gave him as his bankai ate Pernida Curious if they can finish Mayuri's fight in the first half and then start Kyuraku's. Can't remember
SoulMadness made his manga edits so good that I already have an expectation for every fight. He made Mayuri vs Pernida have that eerie, sinister vibe, but here in the anime I’m not sure if they’ve got it or if that’s even what they’re going for?
"weird episode" well...yes! it's Mayuri's fight...Mayuri is in it...hahahhahahah fitting! Also, maybe they ll go back n forth between the fights, as in we have now seen part 1 of Mayuri's weirdness, next is Kyoraku's shadows part 1 (first contact and dialogue) and part 2 of the Mayuri's weirdness, and theeeen Urohara's tailoring part 1 plus some scenes of the others moving along...
i wonder if pernida swaying is him kinda mocking mayuri or like him not treating the fight seriously… def and interesting direction they took still liked the episode
On the one hand the cgi is a bit awkward, on the other I sort of **like** that the weird godly shard of the soul king is so different than everything else around him that he’s literally animated differently
If you imagine the hand in a fist when its under the hood then the "rippling" you mentioned would be the fingers moving around. Since Pernida can change its size the fingers would be moving around
This was the STRANGEST episode of the entire series across the board and I LOVED IT!!! Mayuri's character art was bonkers and the depiction of Pernida was so bizarre in the best way!!!
Flame of Rebirth mentioned how some of the directors wanted to expand the scope of the war in this cour and that splitting up fights to make them happen simultaneously makes sense.
Pernidas voice was the only thing that made me go "huh?" I thought the CGI was okay, honestly Mayuris speech was a tad too long also though I think But it was very very cool seeing Ashisogi Jizo again in the anime! It felt like forever since its last appearance
Im okay with the CG for pernida. If only to service the rest of the anime as a whole. Animating is expensive and difficult and tedious work. And CG helps out a TON in saving money and time. And if we have to have a weird looking creature in a couple episodes so the team can LAVISH love on new fights and future expanded content i will take it with a full smile!
The swaying of the arms could on how the animation depicts a disembodied arm, an arm without much of a anchor other than how it show some nerves being send into the ground, but we saw how pernida the main body topple over and grows out and stood up. As the arm is huge and tall it naturally become heavy towards the top which explains why it sway back n forth so much. The animators probably wants to make as realistic as possible, kinda like a boss fight in a game, rather than keep still they wants make much a alive. Afterall its a disembodied arm with sentience to it.
I really enjoyed that Pernida looked the way it did, it was unsettling. It’s funny you say you are gonna need to watch it again, and another time. I’ve already watched it 3 times. That’s not common for me with bleach. Maybe 3 times throughout the week, not day one
I honestly, with all respect, don't give a sh*t about the cgi 😅 All the screaming, weirdness going on, all is bizarre as It should, also really liked the music. 10/10 episode imo.
I think it's fitting that Pernida looks weird, acts weird and sounds weird. It's meant to be weird. It's meant to stand out and almost not seem right, like it should not exist. It's probably never been in that form and has been to this extent. It's being pushed to limits that it has to break, advancing and evolving. Mayuri was the star. I don't think it was meant to show urgency because it was similar to the 2nd fight of the Quincy King versus the Hybrid Savior, where it looked like he won. Finishing it with victory, for anime only watchers. However, things could still change further. I think they've done amazing with each episode. Seeing the Mad Scientist take on the Left Arm of the Soul King, is epic. He's not using thousands of blade petals, huge slashes or beams or typical weapons, to face off against something, probably most others would not be able to even last 10 seconds(or less). As far as them splitting up the fights, it's interesting, as I guess they could either do half of each fight, and then the other episodes show the rest, or they finish all in one, by stopping at certain parts, so the animation would just be 5-10 minutes. Either way, I'm looking forward to each episode. Kids games coming up lol from the Captain Commander of the Gotei 13 Court Guard Squad! 🎉 Let the Shadow Games Begin!
I was expecting they would make Pernida seem more monstrous and it didn't disappoint. Now I'm curious how he'd sound in dub. I also love the grotesque nature of Mayuri's new bankai. I thought nothing from him could top the caterpillar baby thing.
Its not a mrtommo video if he doesnr nitpick about everything, pernida looked good and the cgi was decent you dont seem to understand all the movements pernida did add to the creepines of the fight not to mention thats how a giant severed arm would act
Honestly, I could understand them kind of pairing up the Kyoraku and Mayuri fights since they both do kind of have similar structures where they both use their Bankai to seemingly defeat their opponents only for Pernida and Lille to pull out surprise abilities or transformations and gain the upper hand, Kyoraku and Mayuri both being saved by the intervention of their lieutenants who reveal hidden power of their own. When you look at it that way, the two fights actually make quite good foils of one another

Those lines are in the manga
This fight is so wonderfully weird and the anime seems like it is going to really captured that. Also, I love Mayuri's laugh at the end, his VA really is fantastic!
"Don't Chase a Shadow" is the first chapter exclusively dedicated to Kyoraku vs Lille, so I think they'll finish Pernida's fight next week and start Lille's towards the end of the episode
I think the reason the ep 35 preview focuses on Kyoraku instead of Mayuri or Nemu is they want anime onlys to believe Pernida is dead. If it was Mayuri you'd obviously know the fight isn't over yet
Nice observation
The poem is about Shunsui's bankai. We're not getting 8 chapters in 1 episode. We'll get back to Mayuri after next week
Mayuri's Maniacal Laughter at the end was PERFECT... Absolutely ***PERFECT***...

I don't agree personally
@@ghis8482 it didnt make a noise with the sand
As an anime only, WTF was that fight?! Didn't expect his bankai giving birth 😂
lol always expect the unexpected with Mayuri but the manga made is bankai reveal way more creepy
I was kinda expecting the Senjumaru and Mayuri connection to be explored a bit more when he sewed up his hand.
They were in the manga during this fight chapters 637-639 its pretty brief😅
16:05 my mom just entered de room and when she saw what I was watching she lost her mind hahaha
My parents watched it with me and when the baby form tore itself out my mother was just like “that is exactly what it felt like with the twins”

Gotta hand it to them, this was aight
Happy 400th episode of all Bleach anime. Btw, the best bleach episode is 228😉

I guess for anime only watchers, the anime wants them to think this is the end of the battle only to pull the rug under their feet and continue it later.
So the reason for continuing next episode with Shunsui and Lille would be to further instil this impression to viewers?
13:09 Seriously, that thing looks like something out of Uzumaki. I can imagine Mayuri fitting in well in a Junji Ito manga. 😅
I thought the same! Mayuri must be Uzumakipilled
@@Aazel Which is funny because I was thinking I wouldn't mind seeing this ep done even more weird and bloody

Oh no I couldn’t believe Mayuri using people as tools. Oh no that’s so unexpected

CGI in anime is a coinflip and Bleach is the prime example of it
As the great Gennaro Gattuso once said "Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit"😂😂
Nier Automata too
Some of the best and the worst CGI I've ever seen in anime
So bleach is the heads where cgi is good?
Senjumaru bankai, zanka no tachi south and futen taisatsuryo all look amazing and are cg but then you have
Komomuras bankai, roses bankai ( i actually think this one looked good people say komomuras bankai benefits from the cgi to look otherworldly but it fits better for rose tbh) and pernida.
" Pine needles scatter… over a glistening stage in Bright red. Shunned from heavens. Come now, to the depths of hell. " / Shunsui Kyōraku
i actually like how uneasy Pernida looks. the different voices and restlessness of its body kinda speaks to his concept of representing advancement.
Bazz B vs Haschwalth is a fight of 4 or five attacks in total, it cant even fill half an episode
@@Pipehiguita That was the manga, this is the anime we are talking about! All new content, baby!
I think a post credit scene like that would be cool as hell and definitely show the true power of there oponits.
@@defro125 Not every fight has new stuff...this fight with Mayuri plays out exactly like the manga. Bazz B is way way weaker than Haschwalt, so no way should that fight take long. Especially as Bazz B is even weaker losing his volstandig and portion of his power.
@@defro125Your right the way there burning, adjusting stuff . Tons of new room and content.
100% best part of the episode for me behind Mayuri’s bankai, that was perfect
I’ve been loving the additions to every battle. Very excited for the Bass B vs Haschwalth fight.
This is a definite pipe dream of mine but I’d freaking love to see Bass B somehow get ahold of the Quincy Medallion that holds Zanka no Tachi and attempt to use it in the fight.
Reasoning :
-Bass B has a basic understanding of the strength of Yama’s Zanpakuto both shikai and bankai and knows his own flames come close to matching the strength of Yama’s shikai.
-I don’t believe it’s been stated that the only the person who can use the stolen bankai is the one who stole it. (I’m probably wrong about this one though)
-I don’t believe Ywhach would ever use Yama’s bankai and would probably leave it lying out in the open and unguarded like a piece of trash as a continued insult to Yama.
I don’t remember if it’s been confirmed that a stolen bankai disappears if the original owner dies. (Probably wrong on this one as well)
Here after just finishing the Mayuri vs Pernida battle analysis video.
This episode was pretty good !
I can't get over that initial scene with Lille and Uryu.
That's peak Show Don't Tell for this week.
I loved the episode and I think they used cg very well. It was mostly used on far away shots. It was a 10/10 for me
i do like that silent tear on Mayuri's face after he frankenstein's his arm
I think you forget how hard it is to draw hands, let alone animate one. And a bunch of focus is going to be given pernida a hand So they needed an easy way to get it out and they'll probably Polish it up in the blu-ray release.
I personally liked the CGI. Adds to the “weirdness” of Pernida, but I still would have liked Pernida's eyes to glow. We still need to see how they execute the second half of the fight to judge it.
_That CGI at moments was looking very strange not gonna lie._
9:57 absolutely same
11:05 it's weird for me

And thats good
Episode 400!!!!
===
This episode had much better pacing than I thought it would have. My only regret with this episode is that Hanataro's comedic scenes from the end of each chapter in this part of the story were cut since it's basically him reacting to being collateral damage from Mayuri vs Pernida and I hoped to see them as an omake.
===
I love that Pernida is voiced by Bin Shimada (Broly in Dragon Ball) since that means this is his second fight with Ryūsei Nakao (Freeza and Mayuri) except this time it's a fight of intelligence and self-evolution rather than sheer power and endurance.
===
Fun Fact: The characters on either side of the incision line on the front of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō: Matai Fukuin Shōtai (金色疋殺地蔵・魔胎伏印症体, Golden Leg-Cutting Jizō: Demonic Womb Covering Seal Symptomatic Body; Viz "Demonic Recumbent Womb") are, when put together, the kanji for "Prostrate/Bend Down" (伏).
===
Just so you know, in order to create realism of being in a war, there is going to be a lot of jumping around between the fights to show they are happening at the same time.
Hanataro is paralyzed.
What you gotta do Tommo is imagine the hand is in a Fist rather than an open hand when under the hood. Now make a Fist and and you can ripple your fingers and kind of make it look like a wave.
Honestly this was like Smash Bros Master Hand fight.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was getting master hand vibes 😂
I haven't double checked but I think the white nerves control inorganic material and the red controls organic material.
Exactly 💯
Pernida sounded like he was mimicking the voice of Yhwach and maybe other voices he's heard.
Pernida might also trust Uryu; we have yet to see it express either trust or distrust.
Well, Gerard & Uryu is literally Big Brother & Little Brother dynamic.
Btw, blud have heart after all.
To be fair, try split up the fights in the Fake Karakura Town arc. It's the "boomerang storytelling" that they did in Season 5 of The Walking Dead.
whenever i first heard it i thought that pernida's "old man" voice was it imitating ywhach, which makes sense to me
I think the possible reason for the potential split is they want to get across the point that these fights are happening simultaneously to make it feel more like a war and create a vibe of chaos.
Good stuff, Loved drawings on Mayuri this episode. Shunsui next episode is crazy!
I’m always waiting for your episode reactions. I just love Mayuri it’s insane.
I think pernida started screaming like a baby because he heard Ashisogi Jizo
The music, holy shit
Pernida being CG is really weird looking, but since it will move a lot later in the fight, i've seen someone saying that maybe they did it this way so it wasnt so jarring going from hand-drawn to CGI.
I was expecting a really creepy voice from Pernida, not this old man voice. At first i thought its Yuha's voice actor.
It isnt weird looking
Ah yes, evil Batman finally unleashed! Dude's amazing. Love the evil music they gave him as his bankai ate Pernida
Curious if they can finish Mayuri's fight in the first half and then start Kyuraku's. Can't remember
Pernida: Kakkarot!
Mayuri: Excuse me?
Pernida: KAKKAROT!

Think also it is 2 to represent progress and movement.
On the one hand the cgi is a bit awkward, on the other I sort of **like** that the weird godly shard of the soul king is so different than everything else around him that he’s literally animated differently
Perhaps they're splitting the fights so the end of mayuris fight flows better into the gerards fight and kenpachis entrance into it
I think they made Pernida sway a lot to live up to the monicker's " The Advancement" contrary to Mimihagi's "The Stillness". I like this POV.
If you imagine the hand in a fist when its under the hood then the "rippling" you mentioned would be the fingers moving around. Since Pernida can change its size the fingers would be moving around
Wow. Perfect timing. You uploaded mere seconds after I checked your channel lol
This was fucking epic.
Pernidas voice was the only thing that made me go "huh?"
I thought the CGI was okay, honestly
Mayuris speech was a tad too long also though I think
But it was very very cool seeing Ashisogi Jizo again in the anime! It felt like forever since its last appearance
Mayuri's dialogue in this episode just kept going and going and going.
Think it was perfectly weird fight between monstrous
Exactly
Exactly. It's the other arm of the Soul-King Reio it's not going to be normal or average to add to your point.
Pernida Reminds Me of The Whomping Willow From Harry Potter
Finally! I've been waiting all day bro! 😂
NGL I don't see any issue with Pernida.
Like he's like an outworldly being.
I was waiting for this review!! Pernida's voice Bin Shimada is quite cool.
I think Pernidas feels very UNCANNY because of the 3D aspect. As a manga reader, I didn't like it at first but it grew on me (no puns intended).
I agree. I didn't like it initially but halfway through my first watch and on rewatch it feels oddly fitting for how bizarre Pernida is
Honestly, I could understand them kind of pairing up the Kyoraku and Mayuri fights since they both do kind of have similar structures where they both use their Bankai to seemingly defeat their opponents only for Pernida and Lille to pull out surprise abilities or transformations and gain the upper hand, Kyoraku and Mayuri both being saved by the intervention of their lieutenants who reveal hidden power of their own. When you look at it that way, the two fights actually make quite good foils of one another
