Finding your volg has been the best experience. Seeing the way everyone interacts and supports each other is a breath of fresh air. It makes me want to be a better person. I enjoy coffee very much so when you make a cup of coffee I usually get one myself. Lol I enjoy the videos very much but my favorite part is the Bible verse at the end. ( one of my favorite parts). Thank you for making my day a little brighter. Back to binge watching and episode 32. Have a great day.
I’ve been watching and re-watching a lot of your vlogs since 2:30 am this morning. Oh insomnia, please pick another time. However, your videos are incredibly calming for me. To say that I love them would be an understatement.❤️❤️.
Thanks for the gf dough review to your little brother! I will have to try the recipe as I’m Celiac as well. Bless you Giselle for being such a great big sister ❤️
Watching an older vlog just because I need a little pick me up.. a lot of gloom in the world and other videos… you are one of my favorites! I want to go do homey stuff now! Looking forward to Christmas prep vlogs.
We use safety pins for our socks too! I have only know a couple other people that did that. 😄 My uncle suggested this to my parents years ago when my older siblings were younger..... Saves A LOT of time and socks. Lol
Watching this made me want gingerbread cookies, but definitely not sausage! 😂 Thank you. I’m a recent subscriber and I’m enjoying watching all your older videos. I love the joy you take in your work, your faith and your whole life. Blessings!
We make semmelknödle a lot. We use stale bread instead of potatoes though. One of my favorite winter recipes. My mom would slice the leftovers up and fry them in the morning to eat with eggs too.
I enjoyed this so much I saved it to my playlists. Ah, the gingerbread cookies! I love the Bible verses you share at the end. I usually screenshot them. Happy Thanksgiving holidays coming soon!
I had never eaten crackles until I met my husband and his family. They have a different way of preparing them. They heat the crackles in a skillet while also cooking a pot of oatmeal. Scoop most of the liquid fat out of the skillet and then stir in the oatmeal. Fry this until the oatmeal starts drying out a bit and parts of it are crispy. Sprinkler with a generous amount of salt and pepper. It’s very tasty and very filling!
I have just started watching your channel and I am over the moon! Every presentation, every scene with Kona is just so impressive. While I am an Elder in the Presbyterian church, and a retired school teacher, I absolutely love and would embrace this type of life. Do you ever sell your crafts? Those coasters with “grateful” on them are stunning and would be perfect on my table. I love that you are an animal lover, and would love to know where you got Kona. I have a rescue dog who came from a fighting ring. She will never be hungry sad or lonely again.
welcome, welcome I'm glad to have you. unfortunately my coasters didn't really turn out of I sanded them flat, clear coated them and called it a day but, no i don't sell crafts I'm not much of a crafty person. we got my dog from someone that didn't want her anymore aww I'm glad that your dog has a better home then before.
I agree! I love her channel too! So refreshing to see a wholesome way of life during a time when evil is so willingly embraced. I also rescue dogs and cats. 💙 Kona is such a sweet girl. I love when she and Apricot show up in Giselle's videos. So precious.
Great vlog. Really enjoy watching these. I like seeing the machines, buildings, etc that you have to be able to do things for a community rather than just one small family.
I've watched vlogs from another colony and you are much more mature and certainly lots more cheerful and positive. Thank you for sharing your life with us in such a beautiful manner.
First time in all my years watching RUclips where I've seen someone washing their floors on their hands & knees. No expensive mop...just a good cloth! This is how I do it. I can get into all the corners and clean the baseboards, too.👍
yup its happened, when I was in school during the warmer months we had a lot of groups coming for a visit and learning how things work. oh wow thats interesting thanks for the tip.
We call the crackling „Grieben“ here in my part of Germany and it‘s usually mixed back in with the fat and spices and eaten as a spread on bread, „Griebenschmalz“ it‘s called then. :)
I think its similar to what we call them we just add a p somewhere :) we stopped making the bread many years ago its seems like not many people want it anymore (I think this was before my time).
Thank you for showing me your life style and your duty to the colony. I was wondering if you could help me find a Devotion book for myself. Thank you 😊.
I look forward to all the citrus in the Winter! Your cookies looked so good. Kona cracks me up. Since he is in your pack, he thinks he should get a share of your cookie! ahhahaha My dog does the same. Happy Holidays 🙌🏻✌🏻

What are some of your favorite Hutterite/adopted Christmas traditions? Do you have visitors from outside often? Much love from the Quakers in Ohio :D
I’m interested as well... I think it’s because I’m a mother to teenage sons and wife to a husband who has been working from home for the past 9 months. I wonder what my boys and husband would do on a week in a colony.
Instead of getting rid of your decorative pumpkins after the Fall, have you tried painting them as Christmas decorations? We paint them gold or silver and decorate our porches with them. If those colors are too loud, you could paint them white and make a pumpkin snowman. Or paint green or red or whatever. They are cute and you can use your pumpkins even longer. 😄
Do you change your fabrics out for winter? Those lightweight blouses and dresses don’t look very warm. Do you have designated sleep wear, or can you wear whatever you please at night? Also, since you are 23, will you ever be assigned your own home, or possibly be allowed to live with a friend? I wish we could get grapefruit like you are eating here, I live in Southern US, so you would think our citrus fruit would be top notch, but this year, it hasn’t. You are the only person , other then myself , I have ever seen peel a grapefruit like an orange to eat it. I do it exactly as you do, except I salt mine. Delicious! You seem to be quite a talented baker. They say, cooking is an art but baking is a science!
Yes during the winter months we usually wear thicker, heavier dresses. As for sleepwear you can wear what you like there is no designated sleepwear. As for my own home we live with our parents till we get married and if we don't we stay with them. I love peeling grapefruit like that I don't get any unwanted stuff in my fruit. Oh yes I just love to bake.
That lamp (@11:50) didn't have to stay there, just use some metal stick or melt/heat the around using e.g. the torch (@20:23 & 20:31). Delicious food as usual 😛 Sorry to see nobody from the boys helped you with your painting/woodwork project 😕
Also- I’d love a tour of your house. Like, do you have all the typical appliances since you have a community kitchen and washroom? Are there differences from other houses, and what would they be?
No I don't think so right now we are just trying to keep people off gluten and it pretty difficult as almost all our food is prepared in a way that has it.
Hi there I’m a middle age born again Christian lady. (I’m 55 years old) I grew up in an Evangelical Free church near Chicago Illinois and moved to Oregon at the age 11. When raising our 3 kids ( two boys one girl) my husband and I went to the only church in our town of 720 people which is a Friends or better known as a Quaker church. I soon discovered that I was a lot more conservative then most of the congregation and I wore a prayer veil, long skirts, dresses and jumpers similar to your beautiful dresses. And I was the only lady to do so My husband didn’t like my plain clothes or felt Uncomfortable with my clothes so I have gone more mainstream Christian with you clothes (pants, tee shirts and No more prayer veils when he’s around.) Since I am a full time housewife it was an easier transition and I always feel as if I don’t fit in anywhere. My husband wasn’t raised in a conservative family and didn’t want our daughter to feel restricted in her choice of faith. She has a masters degree in Child psychology and her husband has degrees in Youth Ministry, business and Human Resources aka personal manager business recruiter. Both have a strong relationship with the Lord and are raising the kids to trust and believe in God. The boys have followed their hearts and are both first responders, fire fighters woodland fire fighters and such. Both have a deep Christian faith. I truly believe that you are to have a relationship with God the Father and His Son Jesus above all else including a church. Church is a continuation of the relationship and is a very important part of the relationship and growing and serving the kingdom according to God’s Will. I became interested in colony/ community living after working for a John Deere dealer near my home. A manager lived in the northern part of Oregon where there is a Hutterite colony up there. And he shared some of his knowledge of Hutterites. I also saw a series on the Geographic channel that was following a colony in Montana I think and the church elders put a stop to the show because of how the colony was being portrayed in the series. It seemed like the show was scripted and not the reality of Hutterite life but it did show some truths of colony living. I love learning about other people’s faith journey’s and I love to see Gods work in the world and not just my little box. So here are some questions I have from just watching the first 32 vlogs of yours. I realize that these are several months old so I am hoping you see this post. 1) What does your tattoo say? What does your church rules say about tattoos? Can you get baptized and be a member with a tattoo visible or not? I don’t mind tattoos or at least I’m trying to change my heart about them since all three of my adult kids and son in law have tattoos. Times are changing and the meaning of tattoos and the sentiment behind them are in a lot of cases faith based. 2) At what age can young people start to court/date. Can you become a member before marriage? 3) can you share some of your gardening tips?? I have hit and miss crops every year. I’m in awe of the harvest you had in 2020. 4) what are your goals for the future? 5) how is conflict resolved with the community?? Thank You for recording your life and sharing your faith and traditions with us. I’m glad I get to see some real life of colony living. I really love the scripture verses at the end of each! I am also learning that I was paying attention in my German classes in high school because I can pick out and understand some of the things you say when speaking German and get excited when I got it right without the subtitles 😂😇
thank you for sharing I really enjoyed reading it and getting to know you a bit more. I hope you don't mind if I save your questions for a video I know there are usually more people wondering the same thing. oh my I never actually watched that show but, I heard about it and what I gathered was that everything was scripted for views that there was not a lot that was true about it and people were upset that they would portray us that way (I think we are talking about the same show). I'm glad that you enjoy the videos and also that you can understand some of what I say I find it interesting.

Question: If a family has no women (eg all boys and mom passes), do the men do the house cleaning/sewing/etc? Likewise, if a family is all girls, do the women do the men’s house chores? I know community chores will be the same, but I’m curious about how the individual family works out house chores. It seems like you clean your whole house, but I’ve also seen your brothers cooking (and they seem comfortable with it).
Hmmm most things are the same the ladies do the Friday cleaning, the laundry, sewing things like that. But, since we have mostly males in our family we have always asked them to take part in cleaning whether it's something small like doing dishes I know other homes some males don't do that stuff as much.
If a mother passes there are other family members that will step in and help with sewing and looking after the house and alot of the times other ladies will help out with things. We try our best to help everyone that needs help even if they are not family. 😊
Farmer Sausage is a Mennonite sausage. Very delicious. It’s smoked and seasoned with salt and pepper I believe. Simple flavours so it goes with anything.
So much work and preping for later on. Wondered if there is ppl who are acting physically harmful do the men work as like inhouse law enforcement or do you call city police?
Does a Christian foreigner like me allowed to stay in your place to experience to be a hutterites even for 2 to 3 months..is there a chance or a rule like that
Hast du überlegt deine Vlog in Deutsch zu machen? Ich glaube viele Deutschsprachige Leute wurden intresse haben. (excuse the German mistakes, not my native language)
its strange to call the book of Genesis the book of Moses, Moses is not mentioned anywhere in the book, in fact hes not mentioned till Exodus chapter 2.. Adam was to be the head of the human race but sadly he was corrupted, why not call it the book of Adam or the book of Noah or Abraham? lol i like to think aloud about these things... i think calling it Genesis is best, the book of beginnings. here's a piece of info people take for granite, before the law of Moses was even given Exodus 24, God made a promise to Abraham Genesis 17
@@marilynjones6111 yes some traditions attribute moses as the author.. its an interesting question tho, you never once read about moses talking about the promise God made to abraham like paul does in the new Testament.... all scripture is God breathed
God use Moses to write the first five books of scripture, the Pentateuch. In many traditions and languages, they are referred to as the first book of Moses the second book of Moses etc. So the names each book is different depending on what language you are reading it in.
Why on earth do you have to make everyone else's bed? Can't each person make their own bed? You are doing work that other people divide and conquer in most other families. No judgement! I just wonder if you realize that you do above and beyond what seems fair in comparison to other families.

Our Ukrainian neighbors here in Alberta call that sausage ( Farmer's sausage).
Cool. Do they make it the same way we do??
Farmer Sausage is a Mennonite sausage. Very delicious. It’s smoked and seasoned with salt and pepper I believe. Simple flavours so it goes with anything.
Wouldn't have noticed the mistakes if you hadn't pointed them out. 😊
Do Hutterite men ever do any cooking?
No that is the ladies job....I wouldn't have it any other way I love cooking 😊
@@gisellewaldner9406 Me too, I LOVE cooking, that’s what led me to your channel. 😁
@@meanhe8702 😊😊
why did you peel the grapefruit with gloves on???
The cold winter air makes my hands crack and bleed and when the acid from the grapefruits gets in it burns.
Are you gluten free? Or are there more people in your colony that do gluten free??

Do you marry only in side your own community?
...but... the socks don't match....
I have too many socks with holes and too many with no partner :)
Single socks are still useful, just like single people!! They can still keep feet warm. Why waste?
its strange to call the book of Genesis the book of Moses, Moses is not mentioned anywhere in the book, in fact hes not mentioned till Exodus chapter 2..
It is often called the book of Moses because Moses is attributed to writing the book of Genesis.
I just wonder if you realize that you do above and beyond what seems fair in comparison to other families.
they are in school and at work, they get less breaks then we do and I'm at home all day anyways....
