Watching this on Friday - with the squalling wind and rain here - so it's nice to see you got a good day of grazing from the wet field and they had a nice quiet walk up that wee lane :)
@@seanofalluinregenerativefa4569 haha we all have a bet here going when I'll have a stove again - I'm not overly optimistic for Christmas lunch 😂🤣 Have a good one too 😁
Bless Wednesday morning from Montreal QC Canada and welcome back my friend ! .. and absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage compilation documentary countryside adventure and lovely piece of work and gorgeous settings presentation camera work ! .. TQSM ! ..
Yes them fields are particularly bad with rushes I'm excited for the winter as it's my chance to clean up using the cattle and ponies. I never topped this year much so I'll know soon enough weather I was wrong not to or not🤔
Fully grown modern cattle are too large / heavy for the ground. As I am sure you know, Ireland use to be covered in natural broad leaf woodland, this provided food and shelter for stock all year round. If you look at the Piney Woods Cattle of America, that is what the ancient Irish stock looked like in Medieval Ireland.
Thanks k . Would you believe every bit of ground I've rented was abandoned and left to go to briars. As you may know I'm a blow in to theses parts so I was very conscious not step on toes or get involved in local politics so that's the land I went for. . Land not suitable for heavy cattle or machinery. Ideal👌😉
Hi Marie there still down on a rushy field where the cattle eat last week. I didn't bother running them up the road , although them fields could do with them. They'll fall in behind them again next week. The white lady is still very lame . She has had 2 bottles of antibiotics multi vitamin shots and worm and fluke dose but still no real improvement. She also lost her pregnancy. . I'm not giving up on her she will come right please God
Thanks lad . Only them few fields on that lane it worked out great for it in between two other bits I have so it shorten the road trip . I've always heard to give ivy to a cow after calving as it help her to clean. I must look into it further and see what the benefits truly are but like you see they really love it.
I was thinking about what type of bull you should move forward with. Two breeds come to mind after some thought. There's a breed called Gelbvieh very muscular and beefy. Maybe the calves may be a bit large for your cows to deliver. The better choice to me would be a breed called South Poll. Hardy and beef type as well but not so big.. You could do worse than look into both. 🙂. Good luck to you.
Hi Joel yes it's definitely something I have to think about. I'm now at a stage when I can think about terminal triats. The stabilisers are also a breed I'm thinking about. Speckle park too .but would have to be a very exact type. Jasper will go soon
No lad I don't bother . The bull there more or less tells me all is covered. And if we notice anything a miss after the Christmas I'll think about moving them on then.
Well lad the truth yes and no. I was seeing improvements but then we had 2023. I've also stopped topping this year and introduced the ponies instead. I tend to use the winter months to get on top of them and watch how things go the following year. That land in the video is particularly bad but I've only had it 2 years as it was abandoned. Deemed useless.
Well Sean yes they will be. I'm on a bit of land that's away from the 2 main bits so wasn't worth my while bringing up the road. They will be back after them Tuesday give or take🙌

It's wintery here now too . The wind is blowing time to light the fire. Have a great weekend 🙌

The colour of the grass amid strong rushes is incredible.
The cattle love the extra diversity in the boreen long acre, hint hint.

Great work on moving the cows up the lane, always time for a wee bit of ivy along the way!
The ivy must be good fot them Sean, great clear footage of the move up the lane.hows the cow with the bad foot Variety is the spice of life.
There is a slogan for a T-Shirt “ I talk myself into I things and then I talk myself out of them”!
Haha maybe so😄

Farming unfarmable land with healthy and profitable outcomes . It’s a great system Sean .

First good frost here this morning, growing season is done. Hopefully you get some more time!
Very mild this morning john . We tend to complain about the rain but it really great for land recovery when resting 🙌
Very well behaved stock. Where are the ponies ? How is white clares leg now. Thank you for another great update

Will you scan the cows

Hi Sean , do you notice any lessening of the rushes on ur land since you’ve started? And if not would you expect to see some improvement in future?

Fair play Wher are u based ? I’m near ballyconnell myself .
@Westcavanwagyu on the south side of cavan town
Are you going to use Jasper on the cows again next year??
Well Andrew I don't think so . I'm on the look out for a very specific type of bull .I don't believe jasper is that animal.
I notice that you haven't mentioned the Ponies recently Sean. Are they following the cattle anymore.
Well Sean yes they will be. I'm on a bit of land that's away from the 2 main bits so wasn't worth my while bringing up the road. They will be back after them Tuesday give or take🙌
I’ve said it to you before Sean, I love the way you move your beasts. It’s so gentle and easy going, no wonder they’re so happy and contented 🇮🇪🇸🇬
