  • I finally got to go thrifting and was specifically looking for items for my kitchen. I am painting my cabinets and want to now start adding some character into the space with decor but never like to buy new and want "treasures" instead. We are painting several rooms in the house, philip and the boys do an outdoor DIY for the horses round pen, we share greenhouse progress & more!

    Elysia, it's great to see you out thrifting again, I still miss the old dump runs and you turning trash to treasure. Wow! The boys are really growing up! Great you're able to give them their own space to have friends over. Philip you were having too much fun! Congrats on your sustained two wheeler! 😆🤣👍 God bless you all and I hope your seeds grow in abundance.

    It’s so nice to see Philip and the boys having fun together !!! Phil popped a wheelie and almost took out the fence 😱. I’m glad it worked out in his favor 👍🤣
    The greenhouse looks amazing ! Clean windows helps too !! I would think that with all the critters that will see your garden as an ‘ all you can eat buffet ‘… So figuring out a way to fence it in , wire it overhead would give you the best chance of getting to feed YOUR OWN FAMILY!!! 🙏
    I love the shelves in the kitchen- so pretty ! I’m looking forward to seeing all the other surprises you have in store for us !!!!
    I hope the guys feel better soon and you too ❤❤❤

    The cool thing about old houses is rooms can be easily repurposed. For future aging in place, we are putting a bathroom on the main floor with an accessible doorway and shower stall. I have many senior clients and this is often a necessity.

    When planting a garden in the middle of wild life…also plant companion plants that animals dislike…like garlic, onions, lavender, yarrow, rosemary Russian sage. They really help keep the critters at bay.

    • @missemily3264
      @missemily3264 2 месяца назад

      Neat! So that must have been part of what they did back in the day. Would some of those companion. Plants help attract bee, butterflies and other pollinators as well?

    • @lindajohnson7838
      @lindajohnson7838 2 месяца назад +1

      @@missemily3264 yes …..lavender, cone flowers, thyme, bee balm, mint (container only as it spreads and can become a real problem)…..there is a list on line I’m sure. I am a master gardener in my north central state….I know you can get more suggestions and help from your county extension services. You can also put up whirring gigs and wind chimes. You must move these occasionally because, although the motion frightens wild life at first, they will eventually ignore it.

    Put in some half hoops and drape tulle over it bunched up on the ground. I saw a gardener do that and stopped everything from eating her garden. Their claws get caught in the net and they don’t like it. And it keeps crows off too.

    I used cheap cattle panels to fence the garden, just zip tied together, and used steel t-posts at the corners to hold it up, then I zip tied chicken wire around the bottom of it. Easy, cheap, can be rearranged without much trouble. Keeps it pretty safe too. My fourth year in, I'm going to add hoops and plant covers due to the weird weather so I can cover for latent frosts. Good luck with the garden.

    You should utilize your brook to be able to water your plants and such! At our house when we bought it the previous owner had already ran a small pipe from a pond that's way up in the woods and it runs all the way down to our house and our neighbors house and attaches to a spout on the side of our garage and because the pond is up the hill from us it's all gravity fed down to us so we don't need a pump or anything. We use it all summer to wash our vehicles and 4wheeler or water plants, we even use it to fill our pool, and then we unhook it in the winter. It's great so we don't need to use our well water.

    Elisha you should really watch Robbie and Gary gardening easy. They are so great on producing awesome produce on the cheap. They have in the ground gardens but mostly container "chair gardens" they put totes on chairs and on the ground with drainage, filling them with branches leaves etc with food scrap compost etc and just topping with store bought potting mix. They also buy tule in bulk and cover their plants to keep animals out. It does not catch on birds feet either, they have tons of wild birds as well. Animals hate the feel of it and leave the plants alone, and cheap by the bolt online. Check them out. She starts seesd in everything, pencil boxes paper cups, pill bottles, tulle in a pot. Check them out.

    I live where we have a lot of rocks in my yard, big rocks. I call them dinosaur eggs. lol not as big as the one you broke your shovel on most of the time. But we can’t rent a tiller anywhere around here saying what city we live in truthfully because it will probably break their machines. So I loved and was thrilled to see them conquer the massive rock! Get it out of the horse corral and somewhere else! Great job! So sad about the shovel! And nice find that axe head. You wouldn’t want the horses to step on it. Everything is coming together so beautifully. Just love watching your channel and seeing the progress and the boys change and grow up! Delightful! ❤
