Yes, I actually preferred going to goodwill as you can find real denim but the last time I went 3 pair for $20. One pair actually split on me at work! They weren’t even tight. A lot of clothing that goes into goodwill doesn’t even get sorted and is just tossed in a dumpster or sent to the dealers who bale it up and send it overseas where they auction the bales to poverty stricken communities who sort through the ones they win and then sell the stuff that is in decent shape to make a living. What isn’t kept is sent to massive landfills. Also, anything that is donated to goodwill that is exceptionally nice is pulled and sent to goodwill’s equivalent of EBay. It’s a racket. I recently went to a Thrift store in my hometown, that was always a good alternative to Goodwill. I was looking for a 9x13 glass baking dish. They were $10 to $16. Walmart has brand new ones for $14..
I won’t donate to Salvation either because they refused some very nice drinking glasses after our Mom passed because they had a logo on them. We ended up putting them into the recycle bin!
@@mpls6124 , Savers is owned by the Gates Foundation. They are both for profit corporations, from what I understand. They are not helping anyone but themselves, per usual.
Goodwill has priced themselves out of the thrift store market. I would rather just go buy new at the same price as buying used at Goodwill. I own a thrift/antique store and I look at an item and say “would I pay $3 for that?” If my answer is no, then the price is lower. It’s no good having a store full of items if you never sell anything……you can’t make any money with that plan.
Your mention of your store jogged a sweet memory for me. For many years there was a very nice little antique/vintage store near me. It was packed to the rafters with such lovely old stuff! The prices were a bit steep on some things-as it should be because they were nice, old things in great shape. But the ladies that ran it always gave me and my son a good "deal" on at least one item every time we went. I know they did the same for other customers, too. Sadly, Covid did them in, but I always wondered how they had been there for so many years, with their sweet, generous policy of cutting prices like that. Hopefully, they were rewarded in other ways, because they made shopping there such a joy. 🌹
We have a local place called Christian Mission where I will donate just about anything to - has nothing to do with religion in my part - it’s because they give to people in need for FREE! Right now they are working in a new larger location so they have more room for donations - they even take books and food, along with clothing, toys, etc.
I went to a drive-through goodwill donation site in 2021. I was way out in my car OUTSIDE and this woman stomps out and demands from 15 feet away that I put a mask on. Umm no. I told her I was outside and would not be doing that. She proceeded to chastise me and tell me “the rules” and she got really ugly. THEN she tells me she’ll allow me to donate THIS TIME, but I’d darn well better MASK THE HELL UP NEXT TIME. I finally said DO YOU WANT THIS STUFF OR NOT?? I am giving you MY things for you to sell at 100% profit and you’re allowing me the privilege of donating this one time? Nerp. Not doing it. I drove away, found another mission to donate to, and have never been back.
I no longer donate or shop at Goodwill. I prefer to donate to stores that help developmentally disabled individuals get employment, or one that all proceeds go to help indigent women and children.
It's ridiculous the prices they charge for used items that were given to them. They could charge about half of what they do and still make money so people who can't afford new clothing could benefit. And they have the nerve to ask for your change. We live in a greedy world.
I have volunteered for a Hospice charity for over 20 yrs. I price the antiques, collectibles , jewelry and a lot more. I've always tried to keep the prices reasonable, so everyone could get a nice deal. But now with new management, they want top dollar for just about everything. These are in most cases used items, not new. I'm afraid these places now, can't call themselves thrift stores. There is no thrift about it.
Stopped going to any Goodwill for years now. So glad my husband and I live near a Christian Ministries which is like a habitat for humanity store hulk mode and the profits go to churches and their programs and what I find to buy is amazing! Got a 40 piece set of dishware from the early 90s and in great shape for only $10 . Goodwill is ridiculous to say the least
They get everything for free and it’s supposed to be for people who can’t afford to pay retail prices! It’s gotten out of hand and I wouldn’t give them anything nor buy anything from them!!
If you drop a Corelle dish, it will break into 1 gazillion shards and spread to every corner or the room. I bought a set many years - I have that swirl with the green edge, As they regularly break, I am bringing out Gramma's "good china" so it doesn't end up at GW after I exit this plane of existence....
I have been using my Winter White Corelle set nearly every day since 1980, and I have only had one plate break!! I have dropped them on the kitchen floor several times, and they do not break, except that one plate. So, I do not know what you are talking about, LOL! Maybe you have the newer kind?
I've been using things I've kept put up because they had belonged to or were received from loved ones who have passed. For instance, a candy dish, afghan throw, wristwatch etc. Might as well enjoy using the stuff and enjoy the memories connected to the item😊❤
I'm going through a lot of boxes that were in storage while we were building our house (TWO years!), and I have 30 pieces of that Corelle white swirl. I was going to put them on FB Marketplace for $20 for the whole lot. I looked on Etsy to find out what the pattern is called so that I could include that in my description, and I saw what pieces are going for on there. I was shocked!
I shop at a local thrift store that sponsors a drug rehab facility utilizing the Teen/Adult Challenge program started by David Wilkerson. He wrote the book..."Cross and the Switchblade" about his ministry to the drug addicts/homeless/gangs at Times Square. The legacy...of just 1 man. And their prices are half of "Goodwill's".
I quit going to GoodWill a year or two ago and I live in the North MS/Memphis area too. When they started charging PER DISH on obvious sets, instead of pricing the set itself I said, "That's it!"
The last time I went to Rip-off aka Goodwill I saw a medium size rusted cast iron skillet for $39.99..... I left immediately and WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. I never did donate to them as I always felt my donations were appreciated much more at the women's shelter thrift shop. Goodwill is a joke
Supposedly those well seasoned cast iron pieces are worth a lot. The rust comes off and you just season it again. But I paid 19.00 for mine at Costco so I see your point.
They have raised prices here in Indianapolis. It seems that they have forgotten their goods are DONATED, NOT purchased from Wholesalers!!! Granted some people bjy their tbingd for resale, but many shop there because they HAVE TO and can't afford brand new!!!
The prices have increased because resellers have you tube channels and brag about how much they can make on PoshMark or eBay. I have seen scavengers just carting up everything they can get their hands on….leaving nothing for actual shoppers.
I don’t believe that has anything to do with goodwill paying execs big money salaries and overcharging for items they get for nothing and won’t help when members of their communities need something.
@@verapena9465 they need to pay them to run such a big organization. Saver's is a thrift store that's for profit, unlike Goodwill non profit. She did say….they won’t sell anything that doesn’t have a price tag on it. It’s about halfway through the vid. It’s when she was looking at the baskets.
That happens at the shop I volunteer at. We won't sell it if it doesn't have a price tag. But then again, people change them. Many a time, we find dozens of tags on the floor of the dressing rooms. One time I was in the back and a volunteer priced a vintage sweater for $20.00. 15 minutes later, I was up at the register and a lady brought up the sweater with a $3.99 tag on it. I said no that was just priced at $20.00. As the manager was there and said no that's a purple ticket item. She didn't cause a fuss but stormed out. She knew she was caught. Another time I had priced 3 figurines separately. Later the woman at the register came back to me and said, " I don't think this looks right." All of the figurines had masking tape wrapped around the 3 of them together. People will try to get away with anything. In the 20 yrs. I've been there, I've seen it all.@@mpls6124

In Wisconsin are Goodwill have been having the price tag rule for a few years and they will not price right away, they will tell you it has to go through processing again. Uggg
I love Goodwill. When my kids were small, we shopped there, because it was affordable for us, and the clothing items were consistently in good condition, especially compared to other thrift stores in our area. I am grateful for these stores, helping us when we were a young family with small kids… ☺️✅☺️✅☺️✅
A cop went into goodwill & asked for a pair of shoes for a homeless person in the cold, the manager made him pay for them!!!! Never again will i take my things there!!
I called Goodwill and told them what I had to donate. One of those things was a brand new desk and chair. I described it for her, and she said "Awesome! Ive been looking for a desk with a new office chair for my guest room." I hung up.
I have the white swirl pattern & the ivy swirl pattern Corelle. It is next to impossible to find it at thrift stores, but just keep looking. The swirl with the green edge goes with the ivy pattern. You should have picked it up. One dinner plate sells for $23 on Etsy. I have found them for as cheap as $1 thrifting.

I find more at the thrift stores then regular stores these days
Ours is also fairly reasonable, although in recent years thrifting has become really popular right along with reselling those items elsewhere for an even higher markup, and their prices have increased accordingly. Once that started trending more and more items are harder to find there. It's quite unfortunate for those on a tight budget hoping to save money.
We use coasters to keep our furniture from being damaged by wet glasses. It never occurred to me that people wouldn't care enough for their stuff not to use them, but maybe it is because we pass our furniture down so it is sentimental. I guess to each his own! 😊
Of course, even if you don't pass them along, it is common decency trying to keep them looking nice by not damaging them. I make sure everyone in my home uses one.
I literally stop shopping because their prices are so ridiculous. I can get stuff way cheaper at Salvation Army. They eliminated the 599 price range at Goodwill. I was completely shocked by that. It couldn’t cost almost as much to buy some thing used as it does new thrift stores are becoming a thing of the past.
My Salvation Army is ridiculous on pricing! Chipped saucer for $5! And an ugly floral print with a weird saying that’s handmade.. printed onto FOAMBOARD. Center bent all the way across for $10! Shocked me. Both times I’ve went recently everything is high. :(
That was always the rule by me. Give it to the worker then they will price it and ask you if you want it. I've done it many times. Haven't been to goodwill for awhile now because the prices were crazy.
I would have knocked you over to get my hands on the 3 scalloped Buffalo China salad plates! I have 1 & never find more. I love all white plates. Have a big collection of white swirl & restaurant dishes. TFS 😊
that was probably an antique dry sink that would hold a ceramic basin for washing water, with the towel holders on each side and drawers for misc, extra towels, wash cloths, soap etc.... the all wood table with the flip out lid.
Our Goodwill has an amazing program with the local Credit Union. You can set up a savings plan and goal, and Goodwill will match every dollar you save with two or three dollaes. I have a friend that used the program to make a down payment on a house. A friend of mine volunteered at one thrift store and social security wouldn't label her as disabled. Goodwill let her come work for them for a month. They were able to help her document her memory issues (since she had worked so long at the one, she had that down to habit, it was messing her up.) Goodwill helped her with Social Security. Another friend works at Goodwill and is able to stay independent. I try to only go on what our local Goodwill does. Ours is awesome.
You missed a good seller with the chicken. A VERY easy thrift project. Usually sells for $20 to $30 when flipped to look like cement. The Buffalo china is also a good deal. Sells for WAY more than it was marked.
The prices are going up, likely because people are buying all the cute things and reselling them online for a profit. It shafts the people who really needs a cheaper product.
Well except the armed forces overseas who they "donated" peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to in WWII but actually were chargeing for them lol. My mom always told that story to anyone she could, she never got over it when my dad said there were solders who were hungry and had no money and could not have a sandwich :( . I don't shop there ever because my mother would truly haunt me if I did.
I used to shop at Goodwill a LOT and also donated a lot. Between their ethics and their prices, I avoid them now. I shop and donate to other thrift stores in my area such as ARC (benefits developmentally delayed) and the Cancer Society thrift store. Most GW stores in my area are also in very sketchy parts of town which I avoid as well.
I have been shopping there for 30 years. That has always been their rule. They just let it slide because it was pennies on the dollar and they would rather just move the merchandise. But, now they would be losing a lot of dollars so I think that is the reason for the crack down.
A many others, I no longer enjoy shopping at Goodwill, too expensive and not a very pleasant atmosphere. I support Salvation Army and DAV. Since Goodwill is no longer nonprofit I don't want to fund CEO' s and their salaries earned on donations.
Sometimes items don't get priced because of human error. Other times, the price tags fall off, especially the baskets since there is usually not a smooth surface to place a price tag.
Goodwill runs a pretty sweet scam - they get their merchandise for free, their employee wages are considered charity and their administrators get hefty paychecks.
The Corelle pattern is Enhancements. I've managed to acquire a sizeable set just through thrift stores and flea markets. It was still in production when I started. I nowadays only find a piece or two at a time. I've even found the teapot in the last few months and I'd never seen one out in the wild. A lot of the serving pieces are ceramic rather than Vitrelle glass

They got on my $%it list once they closed the changing rooms and would not allow returns! The goods are given to them [savers is just as bad] for free, prices do not support those less fortunate and customer service policies stink!
I recently went to a Thrift store in my hometown, that was always a good alternative to Goodwill. I was looking for a 9x13 glass baking dish. They were $10 to $16. Walmart has brand new ones for $14..
Goodwill is a profit organization. I donate to Salvation Army.
Wrong goodwill is a nonprofit,
Salvation army also jacks up prices on their free inventory and they push CRT and are extremely antiWhite
I won’t donate to Salvation either because they refused some very nice drinking glasses after our Mom passed because they had a logo on them. We ended up putting them into the recycle bin!
They aren't much better sorry to say
Salvation Army has a very good store in Hutchinson, KS that I shop at quite frequently. They sponsor a lot of community programs around here as well.
Not much better. They vary from district to district.
I prefer to spend my $ at Savers and a local Opportunity House that provides for the community. Goodwill got greedy.
Even Savers is ridiculously overpriced on alot of stuff.
Savers is run by the Gates Foundation for their fake Save the Children bs. They do not care about our children.
Savers is a for profit company. Goodwill is non profit.
@@mpls6124 , Savers is owned by the Gates Foundation. They are both for profit corporations, from what I understand. They are not helping anyone but themselves, per usual.
My sister in law saw the owner of Savers driving a Lexus.
Give to a local shelter..Goodwill has exposed itself long ago, total scam..
We have a local place called Christian Mission where I will donate just about anything to - has nothing to do with religion in my part - it’s because they give to people in need for FREE! Right now they are working in a new larger location so they have more room for donations - they even take books and food, along with clothing, toys, etc.
Our Goodwill got rid of all discounts last year, but are still asking is to round up our change.
I never round up my change. I politely thank them for asking and decline
How sad is that !
That they would ask !
It’s not like they’re giving it to Saint Judges!
Always counter with “will you round down?”
If you round up they get to donate that money and count it as charity that they give. Do not shop there but if you do, Do not round up.
It’s a sewing box,my mom had one years ago and it’s for sewing supplies
I thought it might hold a wash basin and pitcher with the end towel racks?
That was my guess
It's a wash stand.
It looks like a sewing machine cabinet that is missing the sewing machine.
I thought a game table
Their prices are ridiculous!
Prices are ridiculous at Goodwill in North Alabama and also Western Ky!!! They have gotten really greedy!!!
Now that I am in my middle 60's, I can't help thinking, is this how all my loved things are going to end up?
Or in the trash, but you'll be 💀 so....r.i.p. lol
I asked my husband and son to give my things to friends and family first. Goodwill can have the rest, no problem.
Can’t take it with you, Susan. 😂
@abunchahooey I know, but there is a few things I love ❤️ I hope they will love them too.
It's the reason I think estate sales are so sad.
They have gone crazy with all those $8.99 price#.😊
Thrift store prices have gotten way high and ridiculous.....
Goodwill needs to get back to their original mission. Now its all about money I dont like Goodwill anymore
I CANNOT bring home another piece, OOOH look at this! LOL!
Sooo me !.… lol
😂😂😂😂
@@mbkeys6166Me too!
At least your GW is well stocked and CLEAN
@debbiephillips4163 Same here, 44 years, and still going strong!! (Except for ONE plate.)
I've been using things I've kept put up because they had belonged to or were received from loved ones who have passed. For instance, a candy dish, afghan throw, wristwatch etc. Might as well enjoy using the stuff and enjoy the memories connected to the item😊❤
Goodwill’s prices are insane for stuff they are getting for free - lately ROSS & T J Maxx have better deals
I love my Corell. I have thrifted sets for my nephew and niece. They love the vintage pieces.
It's disgusting, huh?
Do you still have them? Want for myself, not resale.
@@angelaharris1112 Yes, I have them.
@@angelaharris1112 Yes, I do still have them, but I have 25 pieces, not 30 as I first thought.
They pressure employees to price items high .
I live in Orlando and nothing in the Goodwill store is under $4.99.
I quit donating to “Goodwill” when I found out how poorly they paid the staff. The only good will is going to the CEO.
The prices have increased because resellers have you tube channels and brag about how much they can make on PoshMark or eBay. I have seen scavengers just carting up everything they can get their hands on….leaving nothing for actual shoppers.
Like this content creator in the video 🤣 wtf you think she's buying stuff for? She said she didn't buy something she doesn't want to ship lol
Saver's pays it's CEO over 10 million, other's in the millions as well. Goodwill pays little over half a million. They're doing the same job. Big discount. You think they should get paid, what exactly?
I@@verapena9465
That's insane prices! Get a grip goodwill
Ok,. watched the whole video to find out what they changed 'the rules' as the clickbait title said. No mention.
She did say….they won’t sell anything that doesn’t have a price tag on it. It’s about halfway through the vid. It’s when she was looking at the baskets.
@@Gidget3922that's not a new rule though. They don't want people taking of price tags hoping for a cheaper price. It happens a lot.
That's not new at all in Ohio
All you have to do is ask one of the workers for the price and they'll make you a tag.
In St Louis Mo area Goodwill has gotten extremely greedy. I will not shop there ever again.
I dont donate anymore either. What ive started doing is leaving things on my curb and posting it on fb. That way its still me giving it away for free but the recipient doesn't have to pay for it!
In Wisconsin are Goodwill have been having the price tag rule for a few years and they will not price right away, they will tell you it has to go through processing again. Uggg
To many people taking off tags to try to get a new lower price
Ive been looking for a desk with a new office chair for my guest room."
I hung up.
Smart!!!👏🏾👏🏾
I have the white swirl pattern & the ivy swirl pattern Corelle. It is next to impossible to find it at thrift stores, but just keep looking. The swirl with the green edge goes with the ivy pattern. You should have picked it up. One dinner plate sells for $23 on Etsy. I have found them for as cheap as $1 thrifting.
The newest change at our Goodwill is they 86'd Senior Day.
Between the prices going up & no more Senior discount they are losing customers.
I would love to give to Family in need & children in need. I remember Donating to Church's & Salvation Army. They would help families in need for Free!
STOP donating to goodwill! You realize the CEO makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for salary. Use the karm store instead.
Is there a karma store near seattle?
The all white swirl Corelli is called “Enchantment”. I hope you find some!
Its a liquor cart. Places for baller glass inside and then bottom cabinets to store more liquor. That would be soo cute in hubby's pool hut on our farm. ❤
The only remaining "goodwill" at that place are the corporate salaries!! No more purchasing or donating to them!
The ones who truly do the good work is The Salvation Army. They take care of folks just out of recovery, prison, bad times, whatever. They'll take you in and give you a decent job with decent wages and Respect. ✌🏽💙✨️
Around here the best to shop at and donate to is St. Vincent de Paul. You can buy pants for $1.50. They have a week of "bag days." A paper grocery bag full of clothes for $3. Awesome place!
The goodwill in my area the prices are not bad as far as clothing, tops are $4.99 pajamas $1.99 jackets $4.99
Senior day is Tuesday and you save 25% I always shop on a Tuesday I have gotten great clothing with designer names for $3 and change.last year I lost 24 lbs, and I donated all my old clothing ( to another thrift shop where they help woman starting over again) and shopped goodwill and this particular thrift shop, I bought a whole summer wardrobe including accessories for a total of $80 and I love what I bought….
That cute little table at 50 seconds is undoubtedly a sewing machine table.
Not a sewing machine table. A sewing machine table allows you to sit at it like a desk, with your feet under the table.
I thought so too at first but the one I had was deeper to be able to store machine in it. That wasn’t deep enough.
😂😂😂 $8 & $9 for a glass piece. They fell and bumped their heads.
That was always the rule by me. Give it to the worker then they will price it and ask you if you want it. I've done it many times. Haven't been to goodwill for awhile now because the prices were crazy.
What changed? She said around time stamp 5:00 in that they won't sell anything that doesn't have a price tag on it.
I would have knocked you over to get my hands on the 3 scalloped Buffalo China salad plates! I have 1 & never find more. I love all white plates. Have a big collection of white swirl & restaurant dishes. TFS 😊
Oh I thought it was a dry sink. Bowl stowed away on the table.
I think that cute little table that opens and is $20 may be for sewing supplies. I had something similar many years ago.
that was probably an antique dry sink that would hold a ceramic basin for washing water, with the towel holders on each side and drawers for misc, extra towels, wash cloths, soap etc.... the all wood table with the flip out lid.
Good luck finding the Corelle swirl pattern. I have i plate, 1 bread plate and 1 bowl. Thats all I've been able to find.
I have been looking for a rooster like the one in the cart. I want to paint one black and use in a floral centerpiece.
Love the three items you found! Gorgeous!
I wish my goodwill look like yours it look so nice and neat my goodwill sales junk and clothes with holes in them or stains.
I have a dresser and end table that matches the same wood molding as the first cabinet you looked at! I wish I had that piece.
Our GW just brought back weekly discounts. The prices are so high there now that I only buy something if it’s the “right” color tag.
You missed a good seller with the chicken. A VERY easy thrift project. Usually sells for $20 to $30 when flipped to look like cement. The Buffalo china is also a good deal. Sells for WAY more than it was marked.
I never donate to Goodwill because they only care about money 😠
Buffalo China was used in many restaurants. It’s vintage. Many people collect it. ❤
The prices are going up, likely because people are buying all the cute things and reselling them online for a profit. It shafts the people who really needs a cheaper product.
All for a catchy RUclips gimmicky channel
You need to shop and donate to Salvation Army they actually do good with their donation money
All of the Salvation Army stores closed down in this area
Yes they are least help people!!!
The Jamie Ray vintage vintage had some of the Corell that has the swirl pattern dishes
Those prices seem reasonable to me in Canada they be priced way higher more like 8.99 to 19.99 forget about Pyrex its priced like antique store prices
They just redecorated our GW and the prices are as high as WM!! Not kidding! It was shocking
The white & gold snow house (Christmas) is so CUTE!! 💝
I don’t understand why they put items out on the shelves with no price tag on them…how are people supposed to buy them??🥰
Sometimes items don't get priced because of human error. Other times, the price tags fall off, especially the baskets since there is usually not a smooth surface to place a price tag.
Goodwill runs a pretty sweet scam - they get their merchandise for free, their employee wages are considered charity and their administrators get hefty paychecks.
Wish I could have bought that cute
little $20 table! 😊
Julie, the igloo is hand painted in ceramic class , I’d say early 80s vintage!
Love I loved that tiny little white pitcher
The Corelle pattern is Enhancements. I've managed to acquire a sizeable set just through thrift stores and flea markets. It was still in production when I started. I nowadays only find a piece or two at a time. I've even found the teapot in the last few months and I'd never seen one out in the wild. A lot of the serving pieces are ceramic rather than Vitrelle glass
