      OmG you should have kept it a neutral color. I painted cabinets a matte red once (in the mid-late 2000s). I was young and not thinking forward or that I could get sick of it (or about re-sale). I hated myself 2 years later for using a fad dark color I got sick of quickly (and went out of style quickly). It wasn’t worth it. I just wasn’t worth it…it took 4 coats (not counting primer) to get rid of that color.

    • @MegC
      @MegC  2 года назад +33

      It did though unfortunately. The cabinets had really had their day in real life. So what we’ve done is yes modernised them instead of ripping it all out and replacing it with a new kitchen. I understand your point and if they were in better condition we may not have had to xx

    The lightened/stained parquet floor was a great idea. I would have kept the original wall tiles and used a similar green to the existing to revive the kitchen doors, this type of green is my favourite colour. But that's all down to personal taste - I dislike black and white combos in general. I would have also stained and varnished the handles (to match the parquet floor) or used a gold or silver accent paint on them. But all in all you've done an amazing job as you've done it all yourselves!

    I was one of the readers that liked the before very much. actually I wish there could have been my kitchen. Because I love the colors. But sometimes even if the kitchen is well done a change of color might be what the owners need. Instead of looking at the same color spectrum for long periods of time. The kitchen came out lovely but my favorite picture was the before. Thank you for sharing

    It's beautiful!
    Some people prefer the before kitchen, but it's a matter of taste! Besides, you are the one that will łive with it! 😊
