Thanks for this. I'm not gonna lie, I may have had a tear in my eye when you were praising the keyworkers. I work as a cleaner in a care home, so I find it incredibly tough everyday when I go in there. I'm off this weekend and I'm pretty much doing what you are, just allowing myself to do nothing and relax. Anyway, great video and I hope you continue to feel better.

I am sad you are feeling this way. When i went through my dark days last year and spent 3 months in a Psychiatric hospital it wasnt the meds or the therapy that got me back feeling like myself again, but was the mindfulness and the gratitude practices that i have put into my daily life. Im a big supporter of those. Im glad they helped you. I hope you start feeling like yourself more and more. We will be here when you are ready to come back.

I definitely think that all the posts of people saying about how productive they've been and how many new hobbies they've picked up is very damaging to those who just can't do that. My first week of isolation I did nothing but play animal crossing, when I wasn't working, and I don't regret it at all. Now I'm feeling like I can do other things and I'm starting to exercise. If I miss a day it's fine. Not going to beat myself up or put.pressure on myself.
Weirdly I think isolation has been better for my mental health. I usually get pretty bad anxiety going to work (at least with my old job, started a new one just before lockdown!) And these weeks at home have actually helped me control that a bit better. Hopefully it lasts even after lockdown ends.

I absolutely agree. I think motivational videos are so important right now but also for us all to remember that we are at different stages of coping and that's cool too.

Thank you. I recently had a full on panic attack in front of my 16 year old son but I thought I was handling everything so well...I'm ashamed and kicking myself every chance I get. I'm not fine. I don't know what to do. I live in NY where the virus is intense right now and I feel helpless. I have to be strong for everyone in my family. As I type this, I'm crying...Thank you for having the courage to share. I will try to take your example and do better.

I am at home 😊 getting all the jobs done 👍 that I put on the long finger. My mental health has taken a nose dive. I feel smothered and trapped. Family are invading my space, or so I think. I breathe in and continue, and am learning to take each day in small steps. When I realize that the whole world is in this together, it makes me feel less isolated. Love, light, empathy, hope, and goodness always matters.

This is so important, I e been really going through the highs and lows during lockdown to with mental health. It’s pretty crazy to be in this time where we have a chance to fully dive into our thoughts and emotions with no distractions. I agree with what you say about just allowing yourself to feel those things and do what your body says. Taking a break from social media is probably the best thing we can do because of how easy it is to compare yourself to others who are seemingly thriving and being super productive. ✨❤️ I love you so much, I thought I’d say that you are a huge inspiration to me in starting my own travel channel a year and a half ago when I went on my backpacking journey! So you are incredible, thank you for just being you!

Thank for this wonderful video, Aly! I'm glad to hear you're doing better and thankfully you realized in time when it was necessary to change something. I also felt not okay, but because of other reasons than the obvious one. I finished my bachelor's degree this January and early up I decided I had to work parttime in a "stable" job to earn my living. So I started an office job in February and it dragged my mental health to hell. I quit this month and I am so happy about it. I will now try work on my projects (fellow content maker^^), do some freelancing and probably work some hours at the supermarket. It feels very weird to do so during these times and everyone is scared..but yeah. It wasn't worth it to get my mental health and my projects eaten up for an office job. The same goes for the ongoing crisis in the world.

Thank you for posting this. Due to my job giving me stress, anxiety, and depression, (toxic people/always something new to get wrong) I had to quit my job (5yrs at a Fortune 500 company) 2 weeks ago. It's such a relief to be done with it, finally. I was out on disability for the past 3 months due to the mental health issues the job/people at work caused, and I tried to go back twice. The 3rd time, I couldn't, and I quit for my own wellbeing. Being unemployed is unnerving, but not as bad as going back to that job, so I'm working on getting better and finding a new job.

Thanks for the video, it's been a tough time. I have found that applying sunscreen and sitting out in the sun helps transport me back and I think of all the beaches and hikes and traveling to sunnier places, there's just something about the smell of sunscreen. Thinking about what my first trip will be after this is all over is also helping me a lot. Reminding myself that, even though I can't go anywhere right now, this is only temporary.

Yes, it's okay to not be okay xx
I've found myself near tears some days. It's difficult not to cry in front of my daughters. My mental health is suffering, but so is my physical health. I've put on weight because I'm a stress eater. I need to cut out the crap, but it's not an easy task. I've tried to take up journaling again, but I'm terrible at it.
On the other hand, I've been brushing up on my Italian as I rarely speak/read/write/hear it these days. What's helped is that my 10-year-old daughter is learning Italian because she's exempt from following English at school (not now, obviously, as schools were closed), but she's been diligently doing her lessons daily. We're both doing it through Duolingo, even if it is a crap method 😂
As for taking a day or two to not do anything... yeah, that's difficult with a family. I am always doing at least one thing or more a day that's not for me, but for us. I wish I could just take a day off being a mum and wife. It's not possible.

I really appreciate this. I've been stuck in Singapore since mid-March and although I finally have a flight booked for May 10th to return to Europe, it's unclear whether Denmark will stick to its plan to re-open its borders (it's already extended it once). All my belongings are at my boyfriend's apartment in Denmark since the plan was for me to move in after spending the last half of winter in S.E. Asia. But this leaves me without an official residence there yet. All of this plus countless other complications on top of this general covid-19 situation have left me drained and entirely uninterested in anything. I'm depressed and can't find anything to look forward to right now, even if I do get into Denmark. There's just so many other obstacles looming ahead of me, and I don't even feel like donning my battle armor.
I'm going to disconnect from social media and try to take moments to find gratitude. I'm sure I can rebound, and I'm hoping that after some time I'll feel like wanting to rebound.
Much love to you, and everyone else here.

First three weeks of quarantine were dangerously stressful. I needed to found myself things to do all the time to stop overthink the situation (puzzle vel. jigsaw, mandalas, crafts, cleaning), then I started to work out everyday and it helps me a lot. I work out at home almost every day for a month now and see benefits already - to my body and to my mind. I still have breakdowns from time to time but I speak to myself: it's okay to cry every other night because the situation is not normal and I have right to feel down. I'm away from my boyfriend for 2 month now and it seems like forever to me. I've got these thoughts in my mind - maybe it's safe to visit him but what if it's not? Maybe we should meet or maybe we shouldn't? And when I heard on TV a speech from one of gov members that the social distancing will be held for a year or more - I hit the bottom. Now I feel better despite the times I fear about my boyfriend, my job and all the stuff. But the sooner I realized that I have a right to feel all of this shit and to cry and to be worried, the better for me. Now, even lockdowned, I feel free. Thanks Aly for the video, I hope it helps many of ppl out there! Glad you're here

I knew I was fond of you before this video..well that affinity has only gone up. Obviously..you've been missed :) Most of all I'm so glad you're ok. As for me, I guess am just kinda hanging in..literally and figuratively. Some days the anxiety behaves, others I'd like to spank the shit out of it. Lockdowns are being lifted in many states, and in sections of states (like ours), but continuously rising infection numbers seem to be saying.."wait, not so fast".. and I'm basically in that camp. Love to you Aly, and anyone else who happens to see this..whether you're a keyworker or just having a tough time. Cheers :)

Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling great. Have you ever tried cutting out caffeine for a week few weeks to see how you feel?
I started drinking coffee last year when I had a baby to cope with lack of sleep. I was diagnosed with post natal depression and anxiety a few months postpartum. I then got a coffee machine and started drinking filter coffee. For a while, I thought I’d maybe developed rapid cycling bipolar disorder or something. My moods were so all over the place. I didn’t think to blame coffee until I ended up in A&E three times in one month with insane heart palpitations and completely over the top jitters/adrenaline (one of the times I’d taken an anti depressant too and the combination gave me serotonin syndrome - a very scary condition that can be fatal).
I felt shit and depressed as hell for the first few weeks without it and then slowly became super calm. I missed the rush of coffee but I didn’t miss the lows. I don’t feel perfect all of the time but it’s much much better, and I definitely don’t have postpartum depression. I’d basically just been walking around intoxicated/in withdrawal for months with no idea!
It’s so normalised but it is a powerful stimulant drug! People die from caffeine toxicity. I lived almost 24 years with no idea I had such an extreme sensitivity. I was lucky I never had more than one filter coffee in a day or combined it with energy drinks.
I would’ve laughed at the idea that coffee was messing up my mood and said I couldn’t live without it (obviously not true as I’d only started drinking it a few months previously 😂). Maybe give it a try? ♥️
