The greatest resource we all have is the present moment, and really, it's the only thing that's ever real. I think it's so common right now for people to try to constantly search for what's next, better, bigger, etc, which sadly just reduces the present moment to a mere stepping stone to excess and endless dreaming. I think it's so valuable to live more slowly, it helps you remember that you already have what you need and already are what you're searching for! Whatever comes next for you Aly, I'm sure it will be amazing and I personally can't wait to see what that means for your channel(s). Much love from Canada!

Aly I identify so much with you in this video - thank you for being so open and vulnerable about your struggles. I spent all my 20s zigzagging after finishing uni - travelling for country to country, working and having adventures. Now at 30 I'm back in the UK for the first time in years and I feel like I've lost the zest for life. Like you, I've always felt that I needed to be achieving something, or having some sort of crazy adventure and so the past few months have been hard for me. I just kind of feel like I'm existing now, rather than living, and that's pretty sad. But what you said in the video is right - we're getting through this, one day at a time.

You summed it up. "Not knowing" can feel hella terrifying but it's also so freaking exciting.
I remember when I first watched one of your videos and it gave me the final kick in the pants I needed to go to Thailand for my first solo travel trip. I learned SO much about myself. Thanks to that trip, I also met a bunch of people that helped plant an "entrepreneurial seed" in me - that made me want to one day work for myself.
Thanks to this pandemic and (layoffs), I got the next kick in the pants I needed to start my freelance business, which is full of its own struggles. It's hard but it's exciting to not have everything totally figured out at this stage yet.
And I didn't make any real "progress" with my business until I chilled the F out and just focussed on nourishing my soul for a while, like you're doing now. It's so easy to get caught up in that MUST ACHIEVE mindset. I know I still do... So this was a good reminder. :)
Not really sure why I typed all that out but, pretty much, things have a way of working their shit out. :)

I mean, I don't know if I followed six or seven years ago, but I can confirm things back then - when you were at your early phase of establishing this channel - were way more different from today. I know things aren't going great, but your best bet is to just stay well clear of social media. There is no point going there and doing "compare and despair." The best thing about your channels is that - they are doing well and receive appropriate engagement (at least by looking at the comments and views). Most importantly, your viewers, including me, find you safe and producing content and giving regular updates. Keep them coming; I enjoy all of them, and it makes me realise the day is not too far when we start travelling again. Chin up. Good luck

I too have no idea what I want out of life anymore and it's scary. The uncertainty and the feeling of risk is scary. One day at a time is all we can do right now.

    • @CheshireCesare
      @CheshireCesare 3 года назад

It's definitely scary, I'm going through this right now at 30... I think the pandemic has forced many of us to reexamine our lives and ask ourselves, are we really, truly happy where we are in life, or is life too short and unpredictable to not strive towards what we really want from it...? Can be very exciting, if also nerve-wracking...!
Nevertheless, one great thing is realizing that no matter what, we're not alone in this, and many others are feeling this as well. You got this!! 🙏🙏

God.. this is so true like I always feel what’s the next step? What am I doing next? I’m in my mid 20s, but it’s like - you had school, then 6th form, then I went uni, then I got a job and then it’s like hmm ok what now? Is this meant to just be how it is now - working Monday - Friday 9-5 😩 I felt like this after uni and went travelling for a year and kept travelling whilst working to have some purpose and find enjoyment in things - makes working seem worth it when you can go away and travel, however then covid happened and it’s like what am I meant to do now? It’s hard as you can’t find much of a hobby in lockdown - or more just don’t have motivation to find something new or the energy to do it! But I guess I should think just go with life at the moment, won’t always be like this / but do always feel like what’s next? 🤷🏻‍♀️ idea of just working Monday-Friday forever is so depressing .. I know that’s just how life works but 😩

I had literally the same sentiment today; it doesn't matter what my next achievement is and if it takes me time to get things done. After last year, graduating into a field I won't working in, being unemployed twice and being broke and worried all the time, I finally found a job which is great, which I really like, I am actually enioying to go to work! And I've got still time to do my other projects, maybe not as fast as I wanted to do them initially...but it doesn't matter. I don't need to follow a master plan to be happy. I totally understand you and you making the right thing, Aly. I really enjoy your content, no matter if it's you talking about your life or your travels. Personally speaking, this channel was always one of my favourite because of your great personality and less about what you do.

But why don't you just travel Aly? Instead of lying to yourself yes... yes it's so great to just read and paint, you love travelling so do that, while it's still somehow possible. jump on the plane and dive into unknown, there are plenty of locations still allowing tourists in south America, Mexico, Brasil etc... Asia Turkey, Sri lanka, Emirates, Egypt and many others, In EU there is plenty of amazing places open... Don't let them make you believe that it's wrong to do what you love, that's it's wrong to love and hug people and all of this things that they now say. Isn't that already death while still breathing, life like this, everything is dangerous, everything will give you virus or kill someone else....it's just not the best way of thinking...

You can still do “travel videos “ but it won’t be much travel for you.
I’m guessing many of your followers, like myself, have never been to the UK.
You could do a local trip around Birmingham or small towns around there. Walking tours, bike trails, scenic areas etc......
I don’t know what your “lock-downs” require but where I am, people are still allowed to go for walks, biking, general exercise etc...but all stores are curb side pick-up but grocery stores are open. This is on again, off again as COVID case numbers rise and fall.
    Just an idea.
