I used my Mini. I added a cup of hot water, and cooked two medium sized sweet potatoes 16 min with 10 min natural release, but it was a little firm inside, so I put the lid back on and cooked for another 3 min, and after another 10 min natural release it was perfect. I’ll just do 20 min next time. It was perfect.👍
NICE! The OTHER reason not to bake them is to not heat up your kitchen, especially if you have the central a/c running! SUCH a great gizmo the Instant Pot! I live in SW Florida and adore mine!
Good presentation. Have a small Instant Pot and this was first attempt at using it. Chose to make baked sweet potatoes. Cooked two medium potatoes 20 minutes with 1 cup of water and 10 min cool down. Came out perfect … smooth and creamy Thanks
I have the same instant pot and same sized sweet potato as you. I’m sorry to say that following your instructions exactly resulted in a mostly uncooked sweet potato. I ended up adding double the water (2 cups instead of 1) and increased cooking time to 35 minutes with better results. I did only have one sweet potato, FYI.
I tried a really large sweet potato in my new Instant Pot Pro -- 30 minutes on high. Fail. Only the first quarter-inch to half-inch of depth got cooked, with the interior still pretty darn firm. So, I scraped off the cooked layer (and enjoyed the meal) and then cut the remainder of the sweet potato in half, lengthwise, placed it back in the Instant Pot Pro, and cooked that for 10 minutes on High. That did the trick! Everything is a learning experience at this point... I will remember to first slice huge sweet potatoes at least in half, lengthwise, and then see how they cook.
I’ve called my mom a million times trying to figure out how to use this instant pot. She’s not answering the phone. Thank you for saving my house and insurance bill😂❤ the sweet potatoes taste great!
it takes 30 minutes for 3 medium size sweet potatoes with a natural release til done. i know because i made the same mistake you did...lol! that's how we learn!. it's still faster than an hour in the oven. thank you for the video!
You forgot to set the pressure level which should be set to MORE, other than that, good job! You are a lovely lady and it's nice to see someone on UTube who can actually talk without stumbling, check the others out, they are terrible.
I can share my experience....sweet potatoes on trivet, Idaho on top and after cooking the Idaho potatoes smashed, flattened the sweet potatoes. I think because Idaho's are denser they would take longer than sweet. Set me straight someone.
I believe the warm mode is actively started only after all the pressure is released. Until then the light being on for Warm is only an indication that the machine is programmed to start Warm automatically when the time comes.
Make sure you spend 10 minutes heating the water in a kettle. It will save you a whole 10 minutes of time waiting for the presure cooker to come to temperature.
I make a lot at once and put a little less than a cup of water in. The potatoes at the bottom are always kind of mushy. Is there a better way or a better rack to avoid this?
Why do my sweet potatoes keep splitting? I can try them soon without pricking them with a fork as you did in this video but when I prick them, which I would assume would make them less prone to splitting, they still split. I use white sweet potatoes, would this matter?
@@brendaparker2466 I have a 3 quart IP and the manual suggests 1 cup of water for that size as well. I've made a lot of things with that amount. As the pressure cooking happens, the food will usually release a little water as well. TL;DR: just follow what your manual suggests.
love these DIY vids, however, a little less prep time in the talking we go a long way. If we're on here to find out how to cook sweet potatoes in an instant pot, we don't really need to know why to cook ham in instant pot versus the oven. We've already made that decision.

add a cup of hot water and it will take less time to come to temp. I use a tea kettle to heat the water.
I turn on the sauté function to heat the pot and water while I wash the potatoes.

Same with me. I had to cook 1 potato for 50 minutes on mine with 1 cup of water.
My 3 potatoes weren't fully cooked either.
Same here. Confused how it worked for her.
Noticed how she didn’t use the fork in the center of the potato after it was cut in half. Ya
Something is wrong with your machine or your settings, sweet potatoes never take 35 minutes.

Thanks for briefly explaining the process and not giving me an encyclopedia of the history of a sweet potato.☺
Amen to that!!😊
😂 YES!
Well done, your instructions are very clear so off I go to cook my sweet potatoes.
So glad to hear it! Let us know how it goes!!!
Short instructions love it..Thanks
Just bought an Instant Pot. Thanks for the Sweet Potatoes instructions. Going to give them a try tonight. I think I would use two Instant Pots :o)
I’ve called my mom a million times trying to figure out how to use this instant pot. She’s not answering the phone. Thank you for saving my house and insurance bill😂❤ the sweet potatoes taste great!
Search you tube videos for how to use the instant pot.
I cooked it for 10 min. It came sturdy and nice too.
Hi there, great video, do you poke holes in them for the air to release from them? Thanks
Steam

Thank you for the simple and easy to follow instructions
They’re in the pot right now. Thanks for the guidance.
1 cup water, some kind of tray at the bottom, elevate, 35-40 mins go.
I'm using your recipe in a pampered chef quick cooker
Great instructions! Thank you so much 😊
right on point and yet lots of helpful details thx!!!!
Thank you for going to the point.
do you have a video for cooking pork chops in insta pot?
Yum. Thank you.
You forgot to set the pressure level which should be set to MORE, other than that, good job! You are a lovely lady and it's nice to see someone on UTube who can actually talk without stumbling, check the others out, they are terrible.
Thank you! Very helpful.
How many minutes to boil sweet potatoes in a pressure cooker
You are the best . Thank you so much 😊
can you cook sweet and regular potatoes at the same time, together? Thank you
I can share my experience....sweet potatoes on trivet, Idaho on top and after cooking the Idaho potatoes smashed, flattened the sweet potatoes. I think because Idaho's are denser they would take longer than sweet. Set me straight someone.
Do you naturally release with the pot turned off or still in the warm mode?
I believe the warm mode is actively started only after all the pressure is released. Until then the light being on for Warm is only an indication that the machine is programmed to start Warm automatically when the time comes.
what is the purpose of letting it naturally release?
When your instant pot finish to cook but keep warm is still on what is the problem ?
Make sure you spend 10 minutes heating the water in a kettle. It will save you a whole 10 minutes of time waiting for the presure cooker to come to temperature.
Those sweet potatoes look like yams 🍠
I make a lot at once and put a little less than a cup of water in. The potatoes at the bottom are always kind of mushy. Is there a better way or a better rack to avoid this?
Great video
Thank you so much! Great video 🙏🙇♂️
Remember a steamed potato has half the glycemic index of a regular potato - very healthy.
Why do my sweet potatoes keep splitting? I can try them soon without pricking them with a fork as you did in this video but when I prick them, which I would assume would make them less prone to splitting, they still split. I use white sweet potatoes, would this matter?
I wonder if piercing them would help?
Yum. Thank you :)
Thank you 🙏❤️
Thanks much.
beautiful
What about a mini duo for 2 sweet potatoes?
Thank you!!!
Easy peezy..
Thanks
Page 22 of my user manual says to always put at least 18 oz of liquid in the pot so enough steam can be generated to cook under pressure.
Maybe this is because of the size of your pot? Mine is 6 quart and 1 cup is the amount for the Instant pot.
@@brendaparker2466 I have a 3 quart IP and the manual suggests 1 cup of water for that size as well. I've made a lot of things with that amount. As the pressure cooking happens, the food will usually release a little water as well. TL;DR: just follow what your manual suggests.
I do mine in microwave? 5 mins. Instant pot inst best for all vegetables
Thanks 😊
I've heard baking also cooks longer so it reduces the glycemic index providing less energy
Can you cook 5 at a time in the instant pot?
I do. You can fill the whole pot up if you like.
Just found yall! I think I'm gonna be here quite often lol
Thanks!
I always use boiling water to speed up the process.
Cooking in instant pot. 1 cup of water. High pressure cooker, 1 cup of water.
Let go of some of the pressure? PV = nRT anyone?
I only need to cook one big sweet potato.
I don’t have that metal thing….
Pressure Cooker.
This would be a great video if it was about 2 minutes and 27 seconds shorter and ... got to the point
but it only takes 10 minutes to nuke a sweet potato in the microwave
definitely minimum of 30 mins cook time, 16 mins is way too short
My sweet potatoes are always falling apart and are mushy out of the IP.
I followed this recipe and my instant is burned not enough water I guess?
You don't puncture them like Idaho potatoes?
This is like steaming the potatoes
@ 140 don't worry about it, AOC learned few weeks ago about garbage disposals.

Steve and Marnie Cooper another word for a private investigator
Yeah that’d be you dude
Rude much
Why the fuck does every single person tell us to turn the seal. If you don’t know that then you shouldn’t be cooking with the instant pot
