Ray Stevens, the producer, music arranger, songwriter, comedian, television host, solo artist, theatre owner and patriot is still going strong today in the entertainment industry. He is truly a national treasure! He should be nominated for the presidential medal of freedom for his contribution to America's happiness and entertainment over the last seven decades.
I love the way he arranges his music... he is so talented. Beautiful singing voice too. His talent will be remembered when he goes. This kind of talent isn't round to day...SAD.
@@peterleftheris5580 I had never heard this "serious song" before either, but my favorite "serious song" of his - and maybe the most popular - is his song "Everything is Beautiful".
You know how it goes when you're surfing RUclips... I'm sixty and grew up with rock, but back in the sixties before a lot of FM specialty stations you'd listen to AM stations that had a lot of cross-over stuff, and I always loved Ray Stevens and Roger Miller. But today is the first time I ever saw Ray singing with his band live. What a talent. I thought he'd do the karaoke thing, but he's awesome live!
I'm a huge fan of Ray's. He always performs with his band UNLESS he's appearing on a TV program that already has a house band or at some function that doesn't provide room for a band and then he'll have a click track of the music playing in the background as he's singing.
I was 15 years old when The Ray Stevens Show rocked my socks... 🧦 I had seen Ray first as a guest on the Andy Williams show the previous winter, and this was Williams’ summer replacement. I was absolutely enthralled but have to admit I don’t remember this amazing segment. But I have been a loyal fan for half a century! Those of us who have followed Mr Ray for that long can well remember that he was beardless up until maybe 10 years ago.
This is great!! I wasn't even born yet but I grew up when the Streak was a hit and have loved him since then!! I remember him looking young like this in 74/75. Love the Happy days song. He has a wonderful voice.
Ray Stevens is such an incredible talent. He is without a doubt an amazing gifted musical genius! I'm kinda surprised that none of the comments mentioned an album that he did years ago & is still one of my all time favorites. Wow! Where did he get that orange shirt? We all know that he did all the voices in the studio. But it usually worked better when he had others do some of them in live performances. How ironic that he included the Democratic party's theme song in this medley! Edwin Hawkins' O Happy Day set a standard for joyous Gospel music.
