Great job! Three questions if you wouldn't mind. 1. How far can you open the door? More than 90 degrees? 2. I want to have my carpenter do this but I worry that the slats on the right edge of the door will hit the slats on the wall (adjacent to the door). Yours seems to avoid that. Did you do anything to keep that from happening? 3. Did you spray paint or use a brush? Thanks so much!
Door only opens 90°. The slats are 3/4” thick, so the gap to the next slat is a bit shy of 7/8. That way the slat in the door fits into the opening. Otherwise it would bind. There are different options out there if your slat gap is smaller. Let me know if you need more info
the effect is amazing. This is exactly what I would like to achieve. Could you tell me how to solve the problem with the door handle? I would also like it to be on one side only. Thank you!
Could you also send a link to the lock that is in the door so that it can be opened this way. There are door handles on both sides everywhere and I don't know how it is solved. Maybe you have a video somewhere how it is done specifically?
What kind of handle do you use to make sure it closes solid but isn’t visible from the outside? All I can think of is a cabinet clicker type thing and a bolt lock on the inside?
Do you use a deadbolt for the inside or some sort of latch lock? I’m winging it for the first time and figuring it out as I go. Door is in great, just figuring out how to add a lock (for a bathroom) and also wondering how to position the panels so they don’t rub when it’s open
@@aroundtownsneaks9626 I used a single sided deadbolt from emtek. It will open to 90° if your gap is bigger then the piece. So let’s just say your slat is 9/16, your gaps would be 5/8
It’s all about the right hinge. These are only 5/8 slats. But I use sugatsune e190 hinges. Depending on thickness and how it’s put together, you could mount the slats and then router out for the hinges too. Would have lots of clearance. Lots of variables
Few questions please , 1. What about the door handle/knob for the out side of the door ? 2. what if it gets locked from inside ? how to open from outside (keyhole) pls reply
This looks stellar, and congrats on the build! Building one out as we speak, and if you wish I can share videos when it’s completed! Couple of questions, what angle is the top door cut beveled at? What product of cabinet finish did you use? Aside from sugatsune e190 interior hinge, is there any other hardware that is needed (ie magnetic push latch)? Cheers
It’s a Sugatsune push latch but i use it mainly as a magnet. To make it a push it’s harder to make seamless. So to open you must pull a slat. Door is beveled at 45°
@@patrickdoyle1087 no. I pay just over 100 a hinge, Canadian. They’re taking advantage of you. Contact sugatsune Canada on Instagram. Mention you saw a top notch video and went to purchase some hinges. You don’t buy in bulk, but I can’t see them over 150

This is the best I've seen on RUclips. The other options look ridiculously obvious
I appreciate you!
The key is to make the cut at the upper portion of the door inclined inward. It helps alot to flush out the fluted panels onto each other.
This is so clean 👌
How do you open it?
What mechanism u used to open the door plz advice
Stunning! Glad to see true craftsmanship is still alive
Thank you very much!
bro your work is absolutely sick, keep it up!
Appreciate it!
This is clean. I want to do this in my bedroom just for fun
Do it !
What kind of hinges did you use?
sugatsune e190

It was sprayed with cabinet grade finish. That way there is no fingerprints.
The cabinet grade finish is a fantastic touch! I would not have thought of the fingerprints haha
This is popular in Aspen restaurants for the bathrooms
Nice. I love it

So I use a sugatsune heavy duty push latch. Can also just pull a slat. I have a single sided deadbolt and a dummy handle inside
Great! Thank you for your answer and I wish you equally amazing ideas!

I want one best ever yet seen
Appreciate that!
Any record to natural looking slate wood to protect them from fingerprints but keep them looking natural look?
Cabinet grade finish. It’s the only way. Really good painters can make this pop with very little smudges from hands
How can open this door???
Pull
If i have to lock it from outside the door, what is option i have?
Could be electronic. Used with an app. Lots of options
@@topnotchfinishingany manual lock, latch or bolt option on the outside?
nice, full how to video?
Coming soon

It’s a Sugatsune magnetic push latch. Very strong

What kind of invisible lock door did you use?
Single sided deadbolt inside. Closes onto a magnet latch

Oh?
@@topnotchfinishing I have panel laminating machine
How do the slats not rub on each other? I need to do something similar but the slats are 1" thick. Prefab 🙄 not my choice

Nic3 work
Thank you 🙏🏻
Where did you buy the panels at?
Did not buy. All individual slats
Cost of this wall
......or can u tell the cost of 8×11 feet wall
Lots of variables
Wow 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks 🙏🏻
Are you working in Miami or do you have someone in miami you know who can help me with this ?
Sorry, I do not
I want this for a small space at top of steps but can it open inward
It can
Do you make your own doors if they are custom size?
@@stalian999 i just order a slab and make an opening for it
How to do this

wow what is the door knob
used here ?
No door knob. Just pull a slat
What kind of hardware would be used to push the door open instead of pool
Pull
Can use a heavy duty push latch from Sugatsune
😍😍😍
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Who’s gonna know?
how wide are your slats and how far on spacing.. I think I also notice an angle cut on top of door... what is angle? looks really good.
1.5” slats. 3/4 spacing.
Is work ko kya bolte h
That it’s amazing
What did u hold to OPEN the door?!
A slat
One of the gaps in the 46 boards is larger to make room for the door to swing open 😊
Is it actually??
1/16”
😅😅😅
🙃🙃🙃
Sorry for dumb question, what if someone bump on it, does it automatically open?
You walk into a lot of walls? This one isn’t as much a push latch, more so a pull.
Love this! I want to do similar for my closet door but it opens inward. How can I get this look for an in swing door?
Same concept. Boards above the door are cut at 45°. The door slats are as well and it closes onto it and connects them
Few questions please , 1. What about the door handle/knob for the out side of the door ?
2. what if it gets locked from inside ? how to open from outside (keyhole)

If someone locks themself in, you can’t open it. It’s a single sided deadbolt. Would have a dummy handle inside as well

Unless you dont see the lines above the door, this wouldnt be truly hidden.
Do you see them? The pieces are mitered up top to hide it as best as possible.
I don't see them! Looks so good
Cool!

Sugatsune e190

@@jruiz1996I show more of the process on IG. But there’s not a lot to it, other than routering the hinges.
If we dont mind having an handle visible outside. What handle would you suggest?
Maybe a black pull. Or router a groove in the back of the first slat to grab onto
Needs no handle?
Has one inside. No need outside
Photoshop
