Sounds like a great opportunity to show my communication skills and not be afraid to be more intentional with my questions like you said 🙏🏻 Thanks again ☺️❤️

you're so welcome! yes, don't be afraid to ask questions. the more intentional you are with your questions, the better it usually guides your thoughts and development of the ideas.

Thank you for the advice!! As an aspiring UX designer, I am still so intimidated by whiteboard challenges. Hoping to improve with more practice🙏🏼

Yeah, whiteboard is one of those things that takes some time and practice to improve. Also, I think building your critical thinking skills, and turning it into a habit can help a ton. Great topic today! Can't agree with you more. It is about showcasing your thinking and reasoning process, not focusing on the framework or task. It is all about you as a designer how to approach and solve the problem vertically and broadly in limited time and high pressure. : ) Really like it, Thank you!.

I really love the tip 3 , especially on the part that to get interviewer's confirmation on whether it should be new or return user by saying "I think this is idea is great, how about if we focus on onboarding first time user". This gentle question will really help to see if that if the interview OK w/ that flow, instead of making assumption and move to the next step.

+1000 constantly checking, validating with interviewer will help you show how you empathy users, how collaborative you are when working with a team, and also allow you to make progress by effective decision making and get the most out of a whiteboard session.

Thanks for the tips! Your style is very articulate :). Do you plan to make hands-on videos? Like running through a whiteboarding exercise or designing a product through ideas? Looking forward to more, keep it up!

Thanks for the comments Kunal! I've been thinking what kind of videos might be helpful for whiteboard exercises. have tried a few videos on critique of everyday things here: ruclips.net/p/PLsl_PBkaw3sj7XPQ8h07eh4UWe0b1xjMu
wonder maybe walk-through or live recording of some whiteboard exercise would be helpful.

Thanks for the tips! I assume these can also be applied in a challenge where we won't be able to interact simultaneously with others during the challenge? Do you have additional tips on how to handle a case like that? (for example: introductions and questions at the start, then challenge is done independently for 45-60 minutes, and finally show and discuss our solution response once time is up)

Interesting. I haven't seen design challenges done in a completely independent format yet, as the main goal of this type of exercise is to evaluate how candidate approach a problem, and elaborate along the process. if you're talking about a take-home design exercise, it would be different.

Hi Yobi! This video was great and super helpful! I am interviewing with google next week and it will be my first time doing a ux interview and portfolio presentation. Do you have any tips specific to google and their interview process? I’m super nervous and am new to the field
