One of greatest Glastonbury performances ever.
Love the fact that this man has absolutely no fear when he gets in front of a crowd.
That was a quiet car ride home.
Maybe……or maybe they just stole glances at each other smiling ,and wished the car home faster
Maybe Don’t take your grandma to see Nick Cave?
:DDD
I cannot put into words how good this is. God Bless Nick Cave...
Agree 👍
You surely can, shurley, how can you not put wards to psycho, singing about killing people?
🖤🖤🖤🖤
Had the honour of seeing this live. Him staring into the eyes of the women in the white dress was the moment of the festival.
They definitely had a cosmic connection there
Holy shit!!!😮😮😮😮😮
Umm. Not really.
I was there too - amazing.
I said it many times - Nick Cave has the biggest balls in music industry.
he'd need a low centre of mass for these stunts
Fabulous
Nick Cave, a philosopher, a poet, a genius 💜☮️
musical 🎼 genius.
This performance is seriously insane.
This is by far the best performance of anything I've witnessed in my existence. Holy fuck.
Check out ‘Burn the cure glastonbury’.
then you definitely have to watch more live performances .
its so weird seeing these fresh faced young suburban youth singing along to this brutal gothic murder ballad
Strong cameo from the floating shark too
I never knew of nick, bad seeds cool name, bad seeds, stay away from my daughters you bad seeds, haha, got some good weed, party like rock stars
Agree. First time I saw NC&TBS was in 86. Dingy basement bar. Blixa played seated.
Keep in mind also that the whole front section is V.I.P. Many of those people are friends, family, girlfriends/wives and other chosen insiders.
Behind the V.I.P. section is a fence that separates them from the mass of the general audience from there on out. It's like this for almost any major concert event as such.
no - not at Glastonbury. No such thing as a VIP section at that festival. @@montag4516
Whether its Nick Cave, Elton John, Adele, Stones, Macca, whoever... anyone can get down to the front. All it needs is patience and a strong bladder.
Dude is the rock and roll version of a Quentin Tarantino movie
Accurate af
Nailed it 👍
He’s been around a lot longer than Tarantino my friend
Or sam pekinpah
no, he's better than that
You can´t experience a better live act than Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. Fingers crossed for a new tour 2022.
Nick Cave was part of that punk ethic that demanded total confrontation with the audience, begun with his early band THE BIRTHDAY PARTY in Melbourne. It's one thing to do it in a small club and quite another to do it within a huge arena. To be able to get right in the face of the audience and seek their involvement and then get it was very uplifting. And towards the end, the audience was represented by that girl in white sitting on the shoulders of her boyfriend. Pretty special.
The girl in the white dress matched his intensity.
His early band in Melbourne were the Boys Next Door
@@keithbarratt851 yes that was the first, such as it was
@@keithbarratt851 They changed their name to The Birthday Party and despite moving to London, still returned to Melbourne to record.
Great mic roadie. Like seriously that man is a pro.
I love how Nick is like 60 years old and still so agile. amazing performer. incredible songwriter😍😍
7:52 🥵
this is ten yrs old
Nick Cave is a legend
Everyone is (rightfully) talking about the moment between Nick and the lady in white but I love seeing Warren Ellis going ham on his violin at 9:08
He plays that fiddle to pieces. Music is a weapon.
At the moment there is nobody like him. Supreme! ♥
This is one of the best performances of all time 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 god damn amazing!!!
Of all the songs I thought might have generated a moment like _THAT_ , this wouldn't have been my first guess...or even my fiftieth. Just the magic of Nick Cave, I suppose. 💖
i bet her boyfriend ended up with a very wet neck
I was stood about 30ft away from that girl, the whole performance was mesmerising. 11 years ago!!!
Was hooked on this song from when I first saw it late one night on Rage (the Aussie music lovers favourite film clip show/babysitter). Great performance, the long term Nick Cave fans certainly got a treat that day. The drawn out verses, interaction with the crowd and the timing of the blue eyed redhead popping up in front of Nick as he's serenading the crowd, Glastonbury at it's best.🤯🎹🎻🎸
Stop the madness, stop the war... Peace Love and Freedom 💜☮️
A grade performance, my favourite live rendition I've seen so far. Serenading the lucky girl in the crowd 🔥.
EPIC performance. ❤🔥
Finally this gets an official release!
Imagine if this performance happened at night. Truly amazing experience...it had everything a life could encapsulate in a few minutes. Birth, love, hate, death, pure happiness
That woman in the audience was in for a good time, but had no idea she was being involved in sorcery ⚡️ she got it tho ✨🫶🏽🪄
She was clearly off her face 😅
Nick Cave creates an awesome sense of unpredictability, excitement and danger in his performance. Can't think of many others who could do it - maybe Jimi Hendrix.
And ME. ⚡️
Mr Cave... Can you realise it? Almost half century Alternative rock persona with extremely Personal idioma, right distances with system and industry and energetic live presentation on discography and lives. I listen to you from mid90s and watch you at Rodon live scenne here in Greece the most of my Times than Any other musician lives. Of course those Melbourne young guys can't consider the power. The difference among other artists. Such a great balance and this difference needs deep understanding and right operation of you like a music vessel, of you like a century idol, of your narcisism, of your drug use. Mainly the knowledge that above everything you are a musician. This rare compilation bridged alternative rock and turns to the most genuine POP, expressing the real esence of our hard age.
9:10 the face of a man defeated after carrying his girlfriend for 10 goddamn minutes only to have her stolen by a rock star in front of everyone at glastonbury no less
His neck musta been soaking...
You mean the devil?
kek
The girl walking out of the festival with him: "Um, yeah, I don't think we can see each other any more."
It was like villagers offering a virgin to the beast.
Why does this not have millions of views?
Here has been years ago a video from exactly this same performance which got very much views but not has been existing anymore.
I am very pleased to find again this extraordinary performance where's the beautiful girl makes those unforgettable moments hands touching and intensive views with Nick 💙
@@tapiola61 Yes! The whole thing is captivating. “Then in came the devil…” 😈🤘
This was intense!!
Thank-you, BBC - American channels would have bleeped the fuck out of this masterpiece.

damn... i'll never forget this. Pure insanity! Nick Cave is........... gsus.... who the fuck knows. beyond amazing
I watch it again and again and again and again YEAH
I always find it puzzling how he is not more popular in his native Australia,
I live in Melbourne where he grew up, I’m a fan but most people here know very little about him
Oh , he's still very popular down here in Oz, don't worry about that.
Incredible performance 🙌🎶🙌🌟
Pure Genius.
Wow that was one of the greatest performances from Nick😎
You should get the Live Seeds album. This specific song is not on there because it's all pre-Murder Ballads material, but that album is intense as hell and then some.
That is immense
Bless me Lord Nick!!
Never thought that theyre a band for big festivals (what is actually a compliment) but this performance is amazing! Nick owns the crowd.
Went on a first date to a Nick Cave show with a woman who didn't know his music. Made her a mix CD of his stuff in advance, but left this off because I figured she'd back out. They finally played this and when it was over she turns to me and excited says, "Why the fuck did you leave that off the CD?!?!"
she’s a keeper!
Is it safe to assume you took her to bed with you that night and she's now your wife?
Bet you were impressed with your ladylike date!
@@yvetteanderson2188 daft comment. 🤮
Yeah Love Nick Cave but I think I’m going to keep most of Murder Ballads to myself when first introducing a girl to him lmao 😂
Wow. Now I know what people mean when they talk about the "girl at Glastonbury during Stagger Lee".
An absolutely amazing performance.
I am getting Murder Ballads signed by two musicians who appear on the lp!
beautiful work of mastery 👹
What a moment!! F****n love this!!!

Epic.
Mary Whitehouse spinning in her grave and generating enough power for the whole of western Europe. Great performance
That guy's a wild man...I LIKE HIM....
Anyone else notice at about 2:50 when the mic hits a guy in the face? If I were him, I would’ve thought: Worth it.
If you listen carefully you can hear the 'thwok' like a stick to a coconut.
that is insanely cool
GOAT
I want to add a comment. Speechless.
this has to be the one of the greatest live perfomances?Maybe Prince-purplerain17min?but this connection with audience is just aww...
In 1989 ? I saw him in Spot but He played only 40 min....but an honour it was
This helped me to learn how to get close to my audience as an entertainer. 😘
That is a fucking lovley shirt.
Genius
This was Permance ART.
2:00 I feel u bro, I feel u
My family has a contract sal, with you and this other stagger Lee, by the way the best concert i ever been. ..and the bad seeds
Brilliant Nick Cave is just fucking brilliant 🇦🇺
This is nice
This ma has some severe swagger
Dunno if this is a love song but I love it ?!
Brilliant
a few people had a moment to remember this gig ....
Subtitles are the best. Stephanie!
Bleeding awesomeness! Those kids are like “who is this guy” that is a god kids and you have been blessed truly
they're all obviously already huge nick cave fans lol
Reincarnation of several rock icons, rolled up into one person.
name them
@@thesound-chameleonman3580-- Jim Morrison, for one
@@thesound-chameleonman3580 Bowie.
Bowie? not seeing that.
one of them being Nick f*cking Cave!
I often wonder if me going up to a women and screaming “YAH YAH YAH” at her face would produce the same effect you see here.
I have just seen the future, and it is NC & the BS .
I wonder if the gorgeous girl in the white dress (or indeed Nick himself) has recovered from that incredible moment? I have no idea who came out best from that.
I think she distracted nick a little 😂 , there seemed to be some kind of mutual connection
I can't imagine why. ;)
@@camwells9726
I think her boyfriend didn't like that.
He could HAVE her just like THAT. 💯
And rightly so.@@minimansonstar
Fucking awesome -
Nick is John Constantine in our world.
I preffered him in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,
Absolutely brilliant. But didn't they have a spare wireless mic?
Intense.
Love how on the "Red Right Hand (Glastonbury 1998)" in the beginning the disclaimer says "THIS VIDEO CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE" and on this it's "THIS VIDEO CONTAINS VERY STRONG LANGUAGE"!
Now it should read "THIS VIDEO CONTAINS VERY MOTHERFUCKING STRONG LANGUAGE"!
Funny
8:48 "Sorry I'm not sure that I want to be in a relationship right now. I need to focus on myself."
