Im 17 years old, first time listening to this. Rn its night and im studying biology. I closed my book and kept it away and paid attention to this masterpiece boosting through my airpods. For a split second i didnt care if the music blasts my ear drums. Thats how good this song is. Immense respect to the artist and i honestly wish we have more artists like them in our present generation. I will be listening to this very often now

I didn't like the album that much, and I felt at the time that this song was a huge missed opportunity, also kinda felt like Nick Cave's voice sounded "old" on that song. As a big Cave & Bad Seeds fan, it was heartbreaking at the time. But listening to it live, oh boy. This is where and when this song breathed and shone. I am so glad I can listen to the Copenhagen's live version on LP anytime I want. Which is a lot I must say ^^
Exactly men. I knew this song was one of they're classics but never gave me the chance to listen to it. The RUclips music suggest me this live version, I fell in love immediately, then I came to the studio version and it's not even close to this.

This is one of the few songs for which I prefer the live to the Studio version. I feel the same about several others of Nick's songs - and he's about the only artist I feel that way about. The man is simply amazing!

After 25 years of waiting I saw them live last night in Toronto. As great as this video is the song sounds a million times better in person. Just watched this again...at the 5:20 mark when the band explodes, I burst into tears and cried the rest of the video. It was a release of the awe and joy I felt at last night's show. Thank you Nick, thank you Bad Seeds.

What a song, what an artist
I saw Nick perform Jubilee Street live on the Gold Coast about 3 years ago, I had never heard the song before and I had tears streaming down my face at the end. Such an epic story with an incredible crescendo towards the end, mind blowing. I also saw Nick a couple of months ago performing solo and taking questions from the audience between performances of requested songs. That too was very amazing.

It's actually "to thine own self be true" but I wouldn't really expect anyone calling Shakespeare "Billy" to know the difference between 'to' and 'too'.

I remember going to the one-off showing in the cinema of this show. I was shook to the the bone. I remember when I came out, unable to look anybody in the eye for fear of breaking down, trying to light a cigarette with trembling hands. Two other people (who I didn’t know) came out the door who had clearly seen the same show. We just looked at each other and cried. It was such an overwhelming experience that I will never forget. I can’t really put it into words, but this brought me back to that moment. ❤️
I went to it in Newquay, Cornwall. It's very much not a Nick Cave town, and there were 12 people in the whole cinema. It gave it a feeling of something rare and special, and it was all very moving.

How old is he, not even in his 70s! But he has released so many music in, say, 50 years of musical career it's insane.
I noticed that every year, he gets better at singing. So I think GHOSTEEN isn't even the climax or the end of his career. I think we are in for more than a handful albums. He as a vegetarian will live a long life, and I believe he'll do music until he dies. If he gets 80, there are still 20 years of great music to come. I love it that he is so prolific and also so varieed in his sound.
First things first, this song is amazing as is. The song structure, the slow building tension, exploding with volcanic energy with such a natural progression that nothing about said explosion feels out of place. It feels both proper, and also well earned. Second things second, this band had been making remarkable music since the early 80s when they finally released this just a few years ago. The caliber of songwriting here isn’t just on par with some of the earlier and older classics, it stems from the soundpoint of well-seasoned veterans who, by now, know damn well what they’re doing. With that said, of course they could write a classic like this so late in their career (and, on an album that has a slew of other amazing songs, most notably Higgs Bosson Blues, imo). It comes to them so naturally that it oozes out of them. Hell, their subsequent album, Skeleton Tree, though not a “rock” album, and certainly more morose in mood (and, understandably so, given the circumstances surrounding its creation), is not only a far better album, but ranks up there with their best.
On that note, I can’t wait to see Nick Cave in September!
