For sure. This year would have been my fourth time seeing him in four years (including last year's solo Conversations date). I hope Michael tugs on a few more Cavestrings going forward. There's a whole galaxy to explore there, to be sure!
Have a listen to his two most recent albums 'Skeleton Tree' and 'Ghosteen'. Both written after the death of his 15 year old son. They are staggeringly beautiful reflections on life, death, and grief.
I adore Nick Cave. I've had the privilege of meeting him a few times. He sat right in front of me during the premier of The Proposition at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). Before the film began, I leamed forward and whispered "I love your music Nick. Thank you so much!" He turned to look at me, patted my hand and said "Thank you so much. That was kind of you to say." A good hearted and open human being, not to mention a freaking brilliant artist!
So glad to see Nick in your channel. I recall him discussing how much guitar competes with his voice and why he loved having Blixa Bargeld in the band because Blixa was so reluctant to play his guitar.
When he sings at you like that, it is remarkably intense. It certainly isn’t that girl’s fault - a hypnotic moment. Everyone he sings at does those eyes. Truth.
I love Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. I've seen them in concert multiple times. Do yourself a favour and go!! They are all amazing musicians. The live show is astounding!! You'll never see anything like it
I was near the front of this crowd, right near the red haired girl. It was so intense. One of the best performances I've ever seen. Plus, because Nick Cave was on just before Mumford and Sons, there were lots of Mumford fans who were there early to get their spot near the front. Watching their disquiet during the set was hilarious...
I've been a fan of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds since I was around 16 and have seen him multiple times but this performance of Stagger Lee is the most epic. It actually brings a tear to my eye how amazing it is. My favorite band of all time. I'm so happy that kids these days love him just as much as I do.
My wife won 2 tickets to see Nick Cave in Glasgow a few years ago. We weren't fans really and went with no particular expectations.....BLOWN AWAY doesn't even describe it!!! What a show he puts on..... Don't miss him if you ever get the chance.
Your reaction might be my favourite thing on the internet right now 😀 been a Nick Cave fan for 20+ years...been to 8 shows (including Grinderman) so far and he NEVER disappoints! His shows are always mesmerising and I think he just keeps getting better...I remeber my first gig vividly - I was 18 (was not allowed to see him live before that😉) and I was one of the young and somewhat innocent at the front of the stage...they played Stagger Lee as well and it was so powerful! P.S I agree with Glen (shoutout to Glen for suggesting this btw) he is bridging the generation gap - now there are new young and somewhat innocent people at the front of the stage... P.S I wish more people would react like you to experiencing Nick for the first time 🧡
I saw Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in NYC in the early 00's... I had no idea what I was in for... killer musicians, great, great songs --- and of course, Nick Cave is a major badass ... I think the Devil might be a little bit scared of Nick Cave --
Nick Cave is an alien and a warlock! He’s a bit out there for me but people love him... especially in the UK. I’ve got that same shirt! Great job as always, brother! 🎸🔥
Hey mate loved the video, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are master musicians that know how to capture & more importantly keep an audience in the palm of their hands. They are an incredible live band & it’s seems as they get older they get even better. I do not know how they do it that have just got “it” whatever that “it” is. Now if you want to see a more recent example of them winning over an even lacklustre audience please check out their performance of “Jubilee Street” on Austin City Limits I think from 2019 it is incredible. Mr Cave & his band are the fucking masters.
What tickles me is that after a few minutes your musical breakdown goes out the window and you just giggle to yourself, shake your head and then just sit back and watch the performance.
Nick is a rare breed indeed, can't think of a more unique artist, truly a special man. Great lyricist, wonderful vocalist, individual stage presence, it simply does not get better than him.
Love Nick Cave, especially Red Right Hand, Tupelo, Henry Lee, etc. First saw him in the movie Wings of Desire. Great movie and his scenes are incredible.
This Is The Power Of Music & Performance. Absolutely loved this clip. Mike to see your reaction when watching Nick Cave perform at Glastonbury is Priceless...
Ah I've seen him several times. The best was at Bonnaroo after Jack White, it was like the middle of the night in a tent and he cast the most wicked shadows on the tent. Like Jack Skelton from a Nightmare Before Christmas eerie with blood red lights. Epic ambiance. The daylight performance kind of throws me off.
Please do yourself one simple favor... Go listen to Cave's last 3 albums: Push The Sky Away, Skeleton Tree, and Ghosteen. They are an album trilogy with some of the most beautiful, diverse, emotional, and challenging music you may ever hear. Prepare your soul, and emerge a new man...
@@Hirnlego999 Great choices as well... always a fan of Let Love In. My other favorites are Lyre of Orpheus, and Boatman's Call, but all Nick is good Nick!
@@RraMakutsi I like most of his stuff but not that much into the first two albums and the last two. Although some of the later live versions of songs like Saint Huck are absolutely brilliant. Loved Push the Sky Away but hope he starts kicking in the pricks a bit more on the next album. Less ballad type of stuff, I'm sure he can still deliver something that is more bombastic again despite his age.
I have seen Nick Cave over a dozen times. balled my eyes out every time, every concert better than the next. no one can compare Just an epic artist, XX
I saw him and you can't help it. I was like don't stare at him in awe don't stare at him in awe. And just stared at him in awe like I couldn't move I just stood and stared amazed. Really weird and dark but amazing!! Red right hand and his murders ballads are insane
I saw Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in the early 90s at a Festival in Aus. It was the most rivetting performance of the day. Definately worth seeing this band live.
Great great great reacts vid. You nailed it. I watched the Live in Copenhagen gig on YT the other night and was simply awed. Love the comments by everyone....so many people expressing their love and amazement.
Michael, man.. it was amazing to see you just gush about a new artist after realizing there wasn't much to teach. I'm glad this was a cold one, because other than the fact cave's version of stag is so good, and this performance so perfect, your channel had little obligation to cover this terrain. I'm glad you enjoyed it, man. Murder ballads is a classic record that is sexy as hell for all the wrong reasons.
Remember watching this on TV. The next band up was Mumford & Sons. I can imagine a fair few of those fans at the front just to see them were fairly traumatised by the time they came on! As others have mentioned Murder Ballads is a superb album.
