ONE POT OVEN BAKED JOLLOFRICE AND CHICKEN

ONE PAN OVEN BAKED JOLLOF RICE AND CHICKEN
FOR THE CHICKEN
* 3 - 4 medium chicken thighs
* 1/2 small onion
* 2 garlic cloves
* 1 chicken seasoning cube
* 1 teaspoon each of salt, curry powder, thyme, ginger powder
* 1 tablespoon oil
* 1 teaspoon pepper.
FOR THE RICE
* 3 Cups Long grain sells Basmati Rice
* 3 cups boiled down tomato sauce
* 2 teaspoon salt
* 2 teaspoon curry
* 2 teaspoons garlic powder
* Fresh thyme
* 2 bay leaves
* 1 maggi cube
* 1/4 cup oil
* 2 cups Hot water
FOR THE TOMATO SAUCE:
* 3 bell peppers
* 4 tomatoes
* 2 scotch bonnet pepper(ata rodo)
* 1/2 small onion

Can a normal cooking pot be used inside the oven?

I think a Dutch oven is best. If the normal pot has rubber handles, then it is likely to melt.
