Your boat hauls butt under engine power alone! The J46 is a perfect choice for what you're doing. Would be great if it had a retractable center board option lol.
@@davidhakes3884 got it; yea if anyone deserves like, they do. I didn’t think the would make it in that boat. But the route they chose was brilliant. Great boat. Great team.
minute 15:43 that huge sloop....I just saw the largest in the world M5 in San Diego last week and I believe this monster you saw there is Perseus 3 the 4th largest in the world did you guys see her name ? ... wow ... but getting back to you great to see you guys enjoying some nice weather don't feel you got to apologize for using the engine you guys already proven you are true sailors so motor away !. If anybody has a problem with that they can go try cape horn themselves :)
You are right on SV Evergreen, about the boat and sailing! We didn't know it was one of the largest in the world, but the rig was just stunning to see up close!
So you made it signed sealed & delivered. I watch about 20 Tube channels & though some have made it around the world, none have done the Horn, think the Horn counts as two trips around the ball.
10 min in and you pose the question " what's next for Sweet Ruca?" I'll give that a go. South Pacific, bathing suits, 80-90°, turquoise water. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
What a sense of accomplishment. Veni, vidi, vici. All footage of nice places, whales, calm waters, colors of the sky, horizon, sunset, and good food are clear signs of inner peace and satisfaction. Congrats on the cool certificates.
Congratulations on your success on rounding cape horn and getting certificate's. You are know part of s unique club. Enjoy yourself and cannot wait to see you again.
I want to give Roxi a big hug. She's my "around the horne" hero. My dogs have always been my partners in adventure. They love going places as much as I do. Keep on truckin', Curtis, Kate and Roxi!
Maybe you have the oldest dog to ever round the Horn, haha. That old gray face might like some recognition for being apart of that roller coaster ride around the bottom of the world.
Now, it's official! Congratulations again! This place is magical, full of life, I believe you'll have many amazing experiences on Patagonia, after Cape Horn. Enjoy! My best and fair winds!
Congratulations Curtis Kate Roxy ! That was an amazing achievement , attempted by not too many and achieved by even less ! Now Curtis has earned the right to piss against the wind ! For the Kate and Roxy don’t get caught looking ! 😂 well done !😊
Hi kate Curtis and Roxy i love all the amazing places that you've had visited. I would like to see more sailing and i was wondering if you can do video shot from the stern corners because I that way we can see everything and how you handle the boat and we can see the sailing at the same time. thanks for the awesome videos
You all are living your best life!! Such huge smiles!! We all look forward to each and every new video as it is a family affair watching together keep them coming.
I salute your accomplishment, being the first RUclips couple, rounding Cape Horn, additionally loving the cameos with Roxy. Now the route to the Pacific is calling.
AMAZING I'm still trying to digest your achievement. You two make an an awesome team and the adventures you shall have forever are unforgettable. I'm spellbound by it all. Your bravery and determination is unbelievable. Wow I'm watching forever thank you for everything.
Congratulations again. Everyone seemed a little rested and refreshed from the battle of the day before. Especially Roxy. The pride in what you had accomplished showed in your faces and smiles.
@ Sailing Sweet Ruca. If you guys shared instruction and explanation while re-viewing your travels would be awesome follow-up videos. I know I would watch repeatedly and save for later reference. There isn't many experienced pro racer sailor channels.. let alone sharing instructional video reviews of past passages.
Admiring your attitude and willingness to experience beautiful people and places off the beaten track. Makes for great viewing. Again, congratulations on your very cool accomplishment.
What Next? Heading out into the Pacific. Pitcairn, Easter Island. I suppose New Zealand and the western Pacific islands like New Caledonia, Cook Islands, Solomon Islands. Maybe a circumnavigation of Australia. Think I'd give crossing Indian Ocean a miss with Somalian Pirates taking cruisers hostage. A clockwise route of Pacific taking in Japan. Where the winds and currents take you.
along with the considerable accomplishment of joining this club of tip rounders, a thank you for a story well filmed, well told and edited! Always ready for your next adventure...
Just found you guys... rely nice job on both the sailing and video. I'll be passing through the Straights of Magellan next year on my Reliance 44 (44', ketch rigged). I'm going to steel your idea for spools mounted on your Bimini frames. How much line, and what type, are you using for tying off to shore?
A great episode guys what a great accomplishment 🎉🎉🎉 Roxy seemed too fare pretty well.🐶👍🏻 Totally special how the Chiliean people came out for you two. 😊 See you next time.🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨😊
Where to go next? Where to go next!!? Well that’s easy. South………….to Antarctica! Yeah I know. Easier said than done. Loved the journey. Half the fun of cruising is planing where to go. I really enjoy this part. Sitting down with charts, guides, weather, season and saying “Hmmmmmmmm. We could…………………………………………………..?………………………………!
You guys ROCK! I know that you are far away from the Horn now but I so love each and every episode. Alluring Artic is at least this far north in Alaska by now, probably nearing 60 North. It would be so good to see you two "ends of the world" sailors meet up. Fair winds and following seas! Thank you.
Well done guys - what a milestone - and well done Roxy - hope you got a treat as well. Guys I know you are busy - please what liferaft do you use - it looks really compact..
I just looked at a new J45 and it looks very much like your sailboat -- QUESTION -- I was surprised that the new J45, which looks like your sailboat but with dual helm wheels, had a "sail drive" rather than a proper shaft drive. Really surprised to see that. Does your sailboat have a shaft or sail drive?
We hope you really like this weeks new video! Our boat is very similar to a J45, in fact the 45 was designed based on the 46 and Curtis had the chance to see the plans and give input before it was released. It was a closely guarded secret ;-) Our boat is a shaft drive, and we actually prefer this over the sail drive, but we wouldn't take a boat off the list because of it. They are well understood and serviceable everywhere.
Congratulations guys, lovely images. I see on the track you already crossed to the Pacific side and you're tacking north through Chile. Have a wonderful time!. Cheers!
Cheers!
⛵️🤙👍 cheers!
Glad you rounded the Cape in good ordee
Thanks James!
Awesome and Congrats!
Thank you! Cheers!
Referencing Olive Garden while in the area of Cape Horn is funny. They sure haven't forgotten where they came from. Best sailing channel on You Tube.
Haha so glad you enjoyed this comment about cheese. We did too!
Amazing guys, congrats
Wow can see how much his wife loves him .... That is awesome

We agree on all accounts! Thanks!
Loving the “Ombelico del Mondo” 🎉
Hello again, good to see you are all safe. 8:45 .. that must be the ultimate experience in "Alfresco dining" ❤💯

A calculated guess.... They were most likely Southern Right Whales .. 🐳🐳🐳
Not sure, lots of humpbacks we have seen though. A bit cold for a swim to check 😉

Is the channel so narrow that the cruise ships could not have passed you safely if you were to starboard side?
