I agree !! This is the most learning I have ever done when it comes to RC Boats. Keep them coming. Since I have found this channel, I can build anything and try it and its fun, that is the point. I don't think there is one question that I had that was not answered by this channel. Keep putting them out there for all of us !!❗
@@Da-bi2bp ABSOLUTELY. IM a 4 week guy. Road course,Dirt oval, truggie,Buggy. BIG B is the man. I do have a question!!!!! Maybe I’m just slow or something but can yall tell me if/how to private message a channel?!?! Lol
your video its so helping sir...thank you for the guidance..this time we just cut the flex cable, I don't know how to make it neat and durable sir haha..hopefully after following your instructions, this flexible cable can be durable sir
This cable is produced as free cutting or non free cutting. The cutting method will work just fine so long as its wound properly. The non free cutting stuff needs a cautery or a weld ish type thing like a grind to keep the strands from fraying and unwinding along the diameter of the core.
Hey Big B congrats from Portugal. I would appreciate some help, and at the same time always interested in your videos, great stuf. I have a fiberglass boat its old but its in good shape, but i have a serious problem. Because its old spare parts you know... none! I broke the flex cable that was in the boat and i only have a spare one... I search from Proboat or Traxxas and other brands but here in Portugal its very diffucult to search specificatios. So i need help of course... the flex cable must be at least 290 mm long till drive dog, the flex part 3.5mm width and the shaft 4.7 mm width. I was seing recoil 2 flex cable but i dont find the specs. Coud you help me?
@@IRONCLADRC😊 I like it you cut with the grinder etc that's ideal but on some cables like the brass ones can get away with a hack saw as they don't frey like those fine wire ones,if I had a grinder I'd use it every time to cut my cables
Just solder the end that goes into the collet.if your running a Collet soldering the end doesn't really need to be done, if your running a coupler with grub screws the solder is a must to prevent the grub screw from crimping the cable. Hopefully this helps
All the grease needs to be off the flex cable, totally clean... I just use common lead free 60/40 electronics solder & Flux. I accidentally put plumbers solder in the crucible one time, mixed with electronic solder worked just as good lol
You gotta slightly heat the flex then Flux it, dip it, whip it, Flux it, dip it, whip it repeat until the solder sticks. Don't get the flex cable to hot because it'll weaken it.
Yea I always have my prescription glasses on. I've had Metal in my eye before I'd have to say it's the most aggravating & irritating thing in the world

IRONCLAD RC
Awesome fun channel BIG B
Exactly what I was looking for, I think my cable wasn't tinning because I wasn't dipping the flex cable into flux prior to dipping.
Great video, the rag you used ,was it wet or dry, and did you put solid solder into the jcrucibal first then heat it up or did you burn it of the reel
It's solid solder. And the rags was dry but it doesn't matter wet or dry
SAVED THAT VIDIO

Do you have any videos on how to properly cut a notch for the dog drive grub screw?
Hopefully this will help Go to 5 minutes in this video. ruclips.net/video/RDprPLxXx8g/видео.html
@@IRONCLADRC Thanks very much, perfect.
I have a blackjack 42 with a castle creations ESC and 2 of the Veles 29. What is the best props?????
Oxidean 42 high rake for 29 and abc 1816 for 42
Show me how to solder a cable on to a stubshaft with a barrel conecter Tim
Ive Never done that before
I was looking at my veles 29 what a thin ass pos. Factory holes in it.
Have you run it with the deeper strut yet? Results?
Yep just back. Oh man that's what it needed submerged drive. Working on video now
Great vid but I never put my good part of the cable into the vice 😊
Yep good point. I just had her snug. Not gorilla tight

YEAH BUDDY!!!!!
What's the aim for doing this? Should it be done to all RC boats? Do you solder both ends of the cable?
Just solder the end that goes into the collet.if your running a Collet soldering the end doesn't really need to be done, if your running a coupler with grub screws the solder is a must to prevent the grub screw from crimping the cable. Hopefully this helps
Kannst du mir sagen welche Flexwelle noch auf die Blackjack 29 passt. Oder eine gute Alternative stabiler mit freundlichem Gruß
Pretty sure .150 fex 3/16 stub shaft will work
What kind of solder
What kind of flux? You use I can’t get the solder to stay on the flex cable
All the grease needs to be off the flex cable, totally clean... I just use common lead free 60/40 electronics solder & Flux. I accidentally put plumbers solder in the crucible one time, mixed with electronic solder worked just as good lol

Can you solder a cable that has snapped in half?
No sir, it's done check out Offshoreelectrics.com
So there's no need to solder the cable before cutting to stop it fraying?
No it should be fine.
Do you have X Maxx rc?
Yes sir
Silver solder the end
Hope you got glasses on i got a peice of metal in my eye one time. liquid flux and 50/50 solder work well with no need of a crucible
Yea I always have my prescription glasses on. I've had Metal in my eye before I'd have to say it's the most aggravating & irritating thing in the world
Your funny. That's a Harley tool
