Oooooh I need to get some of these perennial ones! Just to let ya'll know... I have a tropical hibiscus tree I got at a big box store, and in the early Fall I brought it inside and kept it near a south facing window. It bloomed a few times during winter! I put it outside in Spring and it has done beautifully! So you really can bring those tropical ones indoors for the winter as long as they get good light and are kept warm!
Met Jerry today and your family has done an amazing thing in the Horticulture World here in the Gastonia area! You made a beautiful place for all to come and see the best of the plant world! I am looking forward to Keeping Gastonia Beautiful with all your wonderful family has to offer! Thank You! God Bless You Always! Heather Stephens, City of Gastonia Horticulturist
I hate that I missed seeing you today, but I am looking forward to partnering with you and the City of Gastonia in the coming months! Together we are going to create beautiful spaces!
I planted my first hibiscus this spring and the nursery warned it will be the absolute last to break dormancy, so do not dig it out! It is slow to show. But the summer show is worth the wait. I love these!
8b pac NW. We already had multiple high 80, low 90s days and mine (in pots) are just breaking buds. Within the last week. I though they didn't make it but I knew to be patient. 🎉
Hi Jenny, thank you for sharing this video. I didn't even know that they were only annuals but I certainly would love to try the perennial and I'm gardening in zone 5 so that should work out for me if I can find them. Ty
These are such beautiful plants. I purchased one last year at the end of the season so didn't expect much but it is doing really well so far. I'm glad you forewarned that it takes it's time to grow in the Spring. I didn't see growth in the early Spring so thought mine didn't make it. As you said, though, once you see the new growth start, it grows quickly! I have a quick question about fertilizing - do you add a slow release and/or water soluable fertililzer (and if so, how often and what ratio/type)? Thanks for sharing; I love your videos!
@@GardeningwithCreekside I have 3 of the Holy Grail, this will be my 3rd year with them, I just put them in the ground about a month ago here in N. Texas. Last year I used Miracle Gro for acid loving plants, and they did well in the 7 gallon pots. I bought a huge bag of Holly-Tone for them this year. Wont that work well for them? On the Miracle Gro box it does say for hibiscus, so am I feeding them correctly with Espoma Holly-Tone? Thank you!
In our Southern climate you can simply cut in to about 6” tall after the first hard freeze. Northern gardeners may want to leave their stalls taller to help with the weight of snow & ice.
I had one a couple of years ago in a pot and the first year was beautiful. The next year when it came up some sort of bug got to it and it never recovered that year. Next year the same thing and then it never came back again. Are these type prone to pests?
How long after they start growing before they get flower buds? I drizzle water at the bottom of my plants , they’re about 2’ tall this is the second year in the garden since I started them from seed. How can I get them to flower? They’re in full sun.
I’m also in NC 7B, this year I transplanted mines from all day full sun to part shade and it grew so much bigger but the blooms just dried off before opening. Any tips? Could it just have been the sun was too hot this summer?
I'm moving to Virginia beach, literally right above north Carolina, would I be as to plant these in full sun? Our land has no trees close to the house where I would want to plant them. We're in 8a
I have been looking for them. Nurseries in my area are out of PW Hibiscus. I ordered the Craberry crush from Amazon, but they sent the most sickly plant. Sigh!
I have two of these and I’m about to plant that I’m curious if anyone has experience with deer and these hibiscus. The fact that they are deer resistant sounds too good to be true. 😁
Those time lapse blooms were incredible! 🌸🌺
Right?! Thanks to our Creative Genius!!

You are so welcome!
I love my perennial hibiscus! I got mine last year and it’s huge- such a bang for my buck.
Beautiful hibiscu
Beautiful! I must say that I love the blooms right before they open also. They remind me a beautiful long stem rose!

Exactly! Hibiscuses will teach you patience and reward you with gorgeous blooms!
The house looks gorgeous in the background!! Such a great camera angle...
I love them. I have two in my garden and they are such performers with their large beautiful blooms😊😊🇨🇦
Yes! So easy, yet so beautiful!
Beautiful flowering plant. Love it, will have to see if my local garden center carries them.
Planted a “Holy Grail” yesterday! Love it!
Yay!!!

Great question! Only fertilize in the early Spring with a slow release fertilizer (Plant-time is what I use)

You too!
Love them, I have several varieties!
Good thing I watch this. I was thinking my hibiscus is dead lol
Planted my PW Evening Rose this morning.
Thanks so much for sharing
Hmm didn't realize there was a perennial variety. Will check it out. Thanks
How do we care for them once fall hits? Trim it back? Does it just die down and we remove the branches? Leave the branches to help it with energy?

AWESOME!!!
Thank you so much for the information. I have two so far!
What Espoma fertilizer would you use on Hibiscus?

Mine died...that’s why I’m here
To learn and find out how to be a better gardener
(It’s an easy plant...)
Bless! I’m glad you found us!
Hi. I need a video that shows pruning after winter. Its my first hibiscus I bought late summer last yr
How long after they start growing before they get flower buds? I drizzle water at the bottom of my plants , they’re about 2’ tall this is the second year in the garden since I started them from seed. How can I get them to flower? They’re in full sun.
I really enjoyed this video and I do have an hibiscus.
I purchased a PW cranberry crush do I cut it back in the fall?
After you have a good hard freeze you can cut it down to 6-8” highz
Are hibiscus deer resistant? I’m reading mixed reviews thanks!

They would! Just make sure they get consistent water for their first simmer so that they can establish a healthy root system.
Gardening with Creekside thank you! I'm an indoor plant gal moving to my first house and need sun loving plants! I can't wait to get these!
What do you use to fertilize hibiscus and how often?
Plant-tone 1x in the spring
I have been looking for them. Nurseries in my area are out of PW Hibiscus. I ordered the Craberry crush from Amazon, but they sent the most sickly plant. Sigh!

can you do a shady gsrden selection
Do you mean a shade garden video? If so check this one out! ruclips.net/video/RE-w2aTgW4s/видео.html
I wish I had its seed
Will these do good in a pot?
I would not recommend it as they have a very vigorous root system and I could see it getting pot bound very easily.
Gardening with Creekside thanks for the advice!
That’s house look like THE HOUSES IN LA GRANGE IL OR HINSDALE IL.
👋😄
When will y'all get these again miss ???
We have them now
@@GardeningwithCreekside thanks
