People with class and elegance and higher standards appreciate gloss black. Think rolls Royce, maybach customers. It’s the trailer park crowd that drinks wine out of a paper cup and has spam for dinner that can’t appreciate gloss black interiors.
@@Mabeylater293 The issue is there's a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference between piano black wood, and gloss black plastics. This is why gloss black became popular, because luxury cars used it, but luxury cars used real wood, that was pained with a deep black base color and then coated with a thick layer of clear coat and polished to perfection. That gives it a deep really dark shine. The gloss black plastics which you can find in all cars today is just gloss black plastics, it has no clear coat on it (usually, in some more expensive premium cars it does but still isn't as good as real piano black), and it's not even black. If you shine a light on it, it has no deep shine, and it looks grey or even brownish. Point is, real piano black trim looks really good and expensive. Black gloss plastic looks cheap. Great video. I may be getting a Ridgeline Black edition, and it has the same gloss black. Hate that stuff. I might get it wrapped or replaced with the non gloss black.
I am surprised there isn't a product that is pre-cut to the center console dimensions of cars that have this gloss black trim. Like screen protectors for phones, but for car center consoles. That way, when the protector film gets scratched you just take it off and put on a new one. Repeat customers for the life of the car! Hmmm... gives me an idea...
Me again and still glad to be back. LOL What about plastic with scratches. We just bought a Highlander and the clear plastic beside the gear shift looks like somebody took sharp fingernails to it.
Aw man that sucks. You might be an ale to polish them out, but that plastic is thin so tread lightly. Or if that plastic piece is removable you could simply refinish it and paint it yourself or vinyl wrap it a different color and finish.
What’s your trick to sell a coating to a customer? What I mean is, how do you not over sell it but offer it? I don’t want to be like it’s scratch proof like I have seen many detailer a do
Good question. I’m really honest about coatings and usually a customer who wants one will already know a little about them. But you’re right, I tell them that coatings are not bullet proof and they don’t offer actual scratch resistance or bug and sap resistance. I do tell them that it is an great investment. It makes the paint much easier to clean and maintain, and offers great water and dirt repellency. I usually start with an entry level 1 year coating like Gyeon One.
Ok so I’m finding this video 3 years later. I was using a rag with baking soda & vinegar to clean dirt a mechanic left on my beige dash. Some of the rag touch my gloss finish. Some of The same products mentions in the video are no longer found on their new website. What would I need to look for to clean, polish, & protect my black gloss finish today?
Hi. I fixed some of the links in the video, I'll put them here also. Lithium Hyper Cleanse. bit.ly/3pVfcog Gloss Sauce. amzn.to/3OiZixe Really you can use almost any polish and sealant you like.
Hi. Pretty much any sealant or ceramic coating will work on those areas. But those glossy black areas are very soft and the best protection for them is PPF (Paint Protection film)
@MirandaDetailing I do like the glossy black, but maintaining is difficult. I'll take your advice, and thanks for your quick response. I appreciate it. ❤️
Hi, I have two little problem with my new car: Some little scratch in the black glossed plastic (similar to swirls). Could you suggest a prodoucr that can be easily bought? During a raining day, I forgot passengers windows half opened. Droplets on gray plastic of air conditioner and door stained.... I tried with alcool but the are there....
Hi. You can use any light polish or all in one polish for interior gloss parts. Something like 3D Speed works well with a soft foam applicator. For plastics you may just have to use a leather cleaner and brush and then use a water based dressing on the plastics.
Thank you for the video. I have a mazda cx-5 and i tried removing scratches from the black piano with a product i purchased from amazon now theres a white opaque residue left..would you know or anyone how can i remove the residue?
I made the mistake by using the small brush on the end of my small portable vaccuum cleaner, for several months i had no problem it cleaned the dust away and looked crystal clear around the switches. Towards a year of having the car i've started to notice minor scratches which is stopping the piano black plastic from popping out like it used to. I then started to use just a microfibre cloth but that just ended up sticking all the dust into the switches 🤮. My OCD can't take it, so i'm going to try out some of your solutions.
Use a soft bristle brush. (Only use it for this purpose) and lightly dust it while holding a vacuum next to it to suck up the dust kicked up by the light brush. The brush won’t scratch.
hi Phil...If you have swirls on that plastic windows where sits the speedometer, RPM indicator etc...How/what would be the best and safest way to remove them ? I have Adam's hand revive polish, but not sure if that's ok ?
Hi. Those are difficult to remove since they are in a hard to reach area. You can try a light polish and that can help. But they may not completely come out.
Thanks. Actually anything will make that soft black finish. It’s going to get messed up over time anyway. You could use those super soft brushes if you like also. But if the surface is really gross over time, you may need a slightly more aggressive brush anyway. I would analyze the situation and see what it needs.
I got a brand new car & there were scratches just from them detailing it before we left. I'm going to price getting the door panels wrapped. Idk why they put it on the inside of the car, it's not practical at all.
