Georgie should really use that pamphlet now
"You never know" smartest thing I've seen Georgie do
Can't believe back then, at age 16, you can drop a school without your parent consent.
It's a major theme in life: people from poorer families face a greater temptation to drop out of high school and land a job, to help the family financially. In the short term, it makes life less stressful. In the long term, less education can cause problems down the road. However, Georgie is exceptional and will overcome!
High school dropout, now sells more tires than anyone else in Texas.
At last, he took the pamphlet.
I told my fiancé if we have kids and they wanna drop out; we will listen to their reasons, points, and overall opinions. Now I will say that first to get a part time job (if they don’t have one at that point) ease them into the workplace. Then experiment how they tackle with school and work because responsibilities is all about juggling. Then if they still want to drop out of school and work full time that’s ok but I want them to have a GED or something with a high school equivalent at least. I’m not hyping over college because they’re other ways.
George wasn't upset with Georgie he was upset with the man he himself used to be and he sees that in Georgie only he didn't get anyone pregnant and he is dropping out of school to better himself and have a bright future
Here's the thing, if your boss asks you to work more hours (even though you're still in school) or lets you pick up more hrs you need to tell your boss "Sorry sir or ma'am I understand that you need me here but I still have school and I don't want to get in trouble by my school and I don't want to get my parents involved
that pamphlet is massive foreshadowing
"you sure you didn't get a girl in trouble?"
I like this principal, he’s fun to be around, actually tried to communicate with Georgie and figure out his problem, tried to help him, and he’s also a good drinking buddy.
"Dale, You know that he looks up yo you"
