  • The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 will be sold along side the existing Ram but this all-new Ram 1500 is different from the wheels up. Built using strength lightweight steel, this new 1/2 ton pickup truck is 225 lb. lighter than the outgoing truck even though it is larger. The Crew cab has been extended by 4-inches making more room inside the cabin, especially for rear seat passengers. The cabin now features available heated rear seats that fold up to make room for a perfectly flat floor and larger cargo bins. The front of the cabin is now fitted with a standard 5-inch Uconnect screen that doubles as a backup camera. There are two 8.4-inch Uconnect screens, one with and one without on-board navigation. The highlight is the available 12-inch Uconnect screen that can be used as one large screen or split into two screens. All 8.4-inch and 12-inch screens come with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The3.6L V6 Pentastar engine is carried over but now comes with standard E-Torque. This system uses a 48-volt battery to provide 90 lb.-ft. of launch torque with the V6 and 130lb.-ft. with the optional 5.7L Hemi V8. All Ram 1500 trucks come with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There is an available air suspension but even the passive suspension has been improved with frequency damping.Towing and payload has been improved by 20% to 12750 lb. of towing and 3500 lb. of payload. The on-road ride is very quiet thanks to noise cancelling technology and vibration reduction technology. Ram claims a 10% improvement in fuel economy thanks to improved aerodynamic efficiencies, E-Torque with start/stop technology and mass reduction.

    Great review and I can echo what he says, I own a 2019 Ram1500 Limited and couldn't be happier with the E-Torque system and all the tech for the money. Expensive? Yes, but you get way more for your $$ than with GM, Ford, Toyota or Nissan. Well done RAM!

    This is very near my 2019 Laramie 4x4... same color and I really love it! I did find out some issues that people should be aware of... because of the heads being aluminum, I am seriously thinking of installing Kook's stainless steel headers... come to find out that so many people are having problems with broken head bolts because of the expansion of metals from the iron manifold being different from the aluminum heads. I think stainless steel would be a good idea to help reduce these problems. I also may install a more heavy duty starter... as I also found out that the original starter's were small on many RAM 1500 trucks. I purchased mine with Mud/Snow traction tires that were nice and wide and new rims to go.

    Wow, I've never been too impressed with any FCA product, but that has changed with this new Ram. I've owned several trucks over the years and not one of them approached this level of refinement and innovation. This may be the most innovative trucks ever made and it looks absolutely fantastic. Also, with improved towing and payload capacities, FCA is clearly going after the top sales slot with this one and they might just get it. Now they just need a new transmission, one that competes with the new 10-speed from GM/Ford. Well done!

    • @teejg49
      @teejg49 6 лет назад +3

      LOL if a ten speed is better, then I'm going to wait for a 12 speed. Shoot, why not a 20 speed. Ford's 10 speed serves one purpose, erroneous bragging rights. An 8 speed with the same ratio spread as a 10 speed makes more sense in many ways, especially from a longevity point of view, no need to constantly change and/or skip gears, plus larger gears in the same housing, or lighter weight, just to name a few. Engines with roughly a 3000 RPM operating range do not need 10 speeds. I drove an 18 wheeler for many years. The operating range of my Cat was about 800 RPM (1300 - 2100 rpm) that needed 13 speeds. What is happening to Common sense in our world?

    Very nice truck. Even though I prefer the interior/exterior look of the Ram trucks I bought a Ford F150. I live in the rust belt where they salt the roads in the wintertime and it eats up sheet metal on vehicles. The F150's non rusting all aluminum body is the main reason I went with the Ford.

    • @WilliamStewart1
      @WilliamStewart1 6 лет назад

      benjaminwayneb Not really, head redesign, different pistons, fuel pumps, and different intake. Then it just comes down to tuning which is simple enough. Also, I don't see the Hemi going anywhere anytime soon. I think people are realising the negative effects of all the emissions and fuel econony crap, at least with a conservative government anyways.

  • @AGC828

    Looks like RAM has put serious thought in the redesign of the 2019. With class leading interior quality and being the only truck brand to include a 12" NAV screen. Something very worthwhile is this very tech oriented generation. the 12" screen only lacks stylus support. :) Wonder if the truck can function as a hotspot.
    My question about RAM trucks is...how reliable have they been? As reliable and well built as a Ford F150?
    There's one RUclips video of a new owner who had problems with his 12" screen...locks up and won't retain the radio statin choices. No idea if this is common in ALL 12" screens or just his. I think RAM's "Connect4 NAV system" is also brand new. If so that could explain the bugs. Needing a quick firmware upgrade by the company who did their NAV software.

    And ppl harped on Nissan for such a long model drag out. Great review. the problem with all that tech, is it breaks, self levelling air suspension, start stop, etorque, the fluid for the rear diff to warm it up faster, sounds like expensive repairs.Make them more fuel economical. All the rest of that tech is just gimmicks to get you in the door.

    • @crazyhass84
      @crazyhass84 6 лет назад +2

      JakeDrives why? It reduces the vibration. It's mounts to the frame with 4 bolts. Easy to chance and u probably wouldn't even need to change it. This truck is already more smooth than a car. If the anti vibration module did go out who cares!

    • @JakeDrives1
      @JakeDrives1 6 лет назад

      I just feel like if and when it goes out, or if it intermittently stops working that it'll do the opposite of "quell vibrations". I'm not an expert, I just don't believe in some of the new fangled technology. some would say "more to break" eh? Anyway, I agree the trucks are already some of the smoothest in the biz..I was actually thinking of buying one instead of a Q7 mostly for the air ride and towing.

    • @crazyhass84
      @crazyhass84 6 лет назад +1

      JakeDrives " u feel like" is the problem. U don't have a clue so stop worrying. The physics is 100 years old. It's not new. 1000s of applications use out of phase vibrations to dampen unwanted vibrations. I know. I am an engineer.

  • @kokkolino1196

    As a RAM owner for years I will have to say and ask: is that vabriation technology will solve the issues with the vabriation on the steering wheel at 1200 rpm to 2000 rpm? Or the vabriation coming from the rear from the drive shaft ? And stop blaming Goodyear for making crappy tires after all !!!! They connect will actually working or it will need software updates ones a month or the electrical system rear sensors front sensors high beams wipers will function properly this time including the air suspension as will not handle the Canadian cold or the chrome on the grill will start coming out !!! All this just to start off and under 60000km imagine in 120k??? The bottom line is is all warranty but still cost to FCA and us time off our every day life and plans!!! This are some to think about at the quality and what we paying for!!!! There are also some nice things : lols are amazing the 20” wheels but again the chrome is coming off !!! LOL !!! Anyway there are awesome with out the air suspension and the cruise amazing!!!

    • @jaikarchatha1967
      @jaikarchatha1967 6 лет назад +2

      Boomafoo Uconnect has been one of the top infotainment systems across cars. Since this video looks like it doesn't have 60 frames per second nothing bad has a lot to do with the lag on the screen simply because the camera is not capturing it at full optimization. In my fathers 2017 Grand Cherokee SRT the system runs perfectly fine with zero lag only when it becomes extremely cold temperatures like -30 and below do we have issues with lag but that's the same with All Electronics.

    • @Statimtek
      @Statimtek 6 лет назад

      Problem is Dodge Trucks, certain Jeeps and certain Fiats have been consistently rated, for the past few years as having poor reliability. That is something to seriously consider before shelling out your hard earned money. I would rather have my vehicle spend more time in my garage than at my mechanics garage.If you know what I mean.

    • @Dirtkid98505
      @Dirtkid98505 6 лет назад +1

      Most vehicles have now a day's because of the high production. I've had fords that were absolute junk and Ford's that lasted 300k without a problem. In today's truck market there's no reason to keep them past warranty so I wouldn't be too worried about the reliability. If something breaks it gets fixed for free!

      For Base Prices over the past 30 Years:
      In 1988 the Price of a new Ram 150 was about $11,000 Today that is about $24,000
      In 1998 the Price of a new Ram 1500 was about $16,000 Today that is about $24,000
      In 2008 the Price of a new Ram 1500 was about $21,000 Today that is about $24,000
      2018 the Base Price of a Ram 1500 is about $32,000
      So the price relative for inflation remained about the same until recently

    Switched to 2019 Ram from 2014 Silverado and absolutely hate the truck. No bumper steps- sucks, everything is plastic, audio sucks, barely any cabbies/pockets on the doors. If it was like going to walmart and just returning the car, I would already do it. It's terrible all around! Interior storage is like the worst design ever. The center council, in chevy I was able to store all my water in the bin and still have access to the actual center storage where the cup holder are. In Ram, in order to access the center storage, you need to slide the cup holder inside of the bin, but when the bin is full of bottles of water, you can't slide anything, so you end up with wasted space that you can't use. Also auto-fold mirrors, they only fold from inside, you can't make them fold from the key fob like you could on 2014 chevy. Talk about key fob, still have to use to unlock the car, there's no sensors on the doors that unlock the car when you approach it, like 2017 and up chevy had. Suspension is smooth, but when you make turns and hit a pot hole, it feels like your tire just fell off, and doesn't hold any weight at ALL!!! I would carry 40 sheets of drywall without any issues in all my chevy trucks, I loaded two pantries into the tuck and it sag down pretty hard. I guess one last thing, fuel economy- never got it to be close to 22 MPG and fueling up twice a week now instead of once as it was with chevy and on chevy I was able to get even up to 28 MPG when I would drive nicely.

    Can you auto control ride height? I've seen it go fairly low on other reviews for entry, does it keep that same height for highway? Great review as always!
    PS whens the Silverado/Sierra demos coming?
