No one is even close to that interior and its features. Fantastic. I've had 3 Rams in the past and have always preferred their interiors over the competition. Great review Alex!
First the new Wrangler, now this new Ram. FCA is killing it with these new models! That Long Horn interior is especially comfy looking. Great video as always!
I love this truck and will buy one. I came from owning GM and Ford in my Fleet. They were good but then I added Ram and my maint costs went way down along with happy drivers.
No review is as detailed as Alex on Autos. 2019 ram is a truck I'd buy, but I already own a 2017 ram. I haven't had any reliability or dependability issues people keep mentioning here.
I really just want the 12" screen, but to get that you have to get a bunch of packages. Cheapest I can seem to find one with the 12" screen is $55K MSRP, chaching! I just want a sport model with 12" and I don't even need navigation (that's what android auto is for).
Orlander moon I agree the interior looks fantastic but with a leather covered dash and leather trim on the tops of the door panels, how long do you think that leather will look in 5-8 years in the southern sun states? Even in my northern state the tops of my doors are all sunbleaced. It will be interesting to see how this holds up in Nevada or Arizona. I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty. And how many times have you cracked the window an inch or two and have rainwater splash onto the tops of the doors, and now it’s leather. Leather doesn’t like water
Can't really say anything bad abut the dial shiftier. I have it on a 2014 RAM R/T I drive every day. I personally like it. It's out of the way and easy to use. The idea of a push button for Park is excellent. I too hope FCA is reading this and will consider it for the future.
A great review as always Alex, very professional and not sold to any brand as many of the other ones. For me, this is the best pickup for a while, but this last model blew me away. Regards
Great detailed review. Didnt see other reviews even mention the 12v outlet in dash for radar detector. That is so great so you dont have the long cord running down to bottom of center console.
That flat rear load floor means a higher step in height, and likely overall height. Longer wheelbase means more thought required to avoid hopping curbs in tight traffic.
Alex, you have been amazing to watch grow into this channel over the past few years! Congratulations! If at all possible, I would love to see a more in depth analysis, of which I believe you can only really provide as there is a bunch of junk out there, for your reviews? For example, crash statistics, iihs safety awards, government test ratings, where the air bags deploy, or frankly whether or not you agree with the assessment of these “impartial” reviewing entities. From a “whether or not it will get RUclips hits” I’m not sure, but if Subarus are selling like hot cakes because of their successful safety ratings and price points, I’d imagine you’d get some pretty decent views on a video dedicated to safety or, if you could add a more substantial safety analysis to each review, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I don’t see any car reviewer really doing this and NO ONE provides the truly in depth analysis you do. Thanks again! Mike
Great review. However, considering how much time you spent on describing the 4-corner air suspension - you should have delineated its cost in the pricing segment.
Alex does the best reviews, but I’d like to see reviews on lower trim models the average buyer would have interest in. Not everyone can afford a $60k truck.
emdec55 compared to a silverado it the old ram felt way bigger than it was. I didn't mind the steering feel though. Fords was terrible it was way to light, and at highway speeds felt pushed around more than a ram or GM
I found that the Ram 1500 was one of the most enjoyable and easiest trucks to drive. The Fords feel lighter because they, well, are lighter thanks to aluminum body panels. But the Rams are far easier to park and place because of the hood shape and great turning radius.
Very extencive & professional looking review. Nice looking truck...Very stylish car like interior & those back seats...genius. I predict that this is going to be quite popular. If ever there was a truck to rival the F150 for its market share...I think this is the one. Can't wait for it to come to Australia..looks like my next ute ;)
Side note, for anyone wondering, there is nothing functional on the limited you can't get on the larime longhorn. It is 100% aesthetic differences and the longhorn ends up costing more with all the same options, hopefully due to the nicer interior.
RAM has stolen the interior and technology wars. While it would have been nice to see a little more power from the HEMI, overall I LOVE that RAM constantly thinks outside of the box. Everything appears to have been well thought out. But the interior of the Limited trim gives new definition to the term "Cowboy Cadillac". On the capability front, while not class-leading in tow and haul, RAM was smart to not attempt to over-engineer, thus add weight, to the 1500 as well as to save room for the forthcoming 2500 in heavy hauling. **I do know that FCA is working on a boosted Pentastar that will give the Ecoboost some competition.
Smart concept E torque system. location of the e torque is located on the top of the engine. not between the engine and the transmission. service is cost effective. using the original engine and not spending millions in RnD to build and fail in new engines. also the only truck to use high strength steel in the frame. the RAm also uses the front adjustable spoiler the only truck again. 4 corner air springs. sound cancelling mics and speakers. e torque to heats and cools the transmission and rear diff to allow the proper operation of the units equals better fuel economy. the other dont compare.
I moved out of Ram to a 17 LTZ Chevy and have regretted it since. The 5.3 is anemic and the near top line LTZ does not have push to start so back fumbling for keys. The Chevy has loudest seatbelt, key in chimes so annoying. You can turn them completely off in my last Ram. Ram best interior and ride also.
You have never had a push to start button and have truck unlock when you walk up. No putting tools or clipboard down, taking off gloves etc. Get in and push button and go. Get one, you'll wonder how you did without it.
My only wish is that they had come up with a new or updated V8 engine. The new 'eTorque' system is welcomed, but a more powerful Hemi V8, possibly the 6.4L, would've made everything better.
Very good review, however, I should point out, you mention payload, show it on the screen, yet did not show the "Actual" payload numbers of the reviewed models. That is the #1 most important aspect when it comes to towing. That airbag suspension, adds, weight, takes away from payload, reducing towing capacity. Ram still has a way to go to catch Ford when it comes to towing as comparable models like the Limited and Laramie are still several hundred pounds below Ford. A limited for example has 1462 pound payload and the same equipped F150 Platinum has between 1583 and 1661 pound payload depending on the moonroof option which is not standard(though every one you see has one, for $1295). On that interior, Oh man, that is the Best interior of any pickup. It is Beautiful! I learned my lesson a few years ago, never buy a first run of a new model, otherwise, yeah, I very well could replace my F150 with a Ram, but I will give it time and see how reliable it is first. Really nice job Ram, and coming from someone who bleeds Ford Blue, that is one hell of a comment! One thing I should mention, the 5.0 V8 is standard on the upper trims, and can be had with all the same options the 3.5 EB has, except for the Max Tow package as it is specific to the 3.5 EB in that it is the top towing engine. The V8 can be had in any truck from XL to Limited, so not sure where you got that information regarding the Ford V8.
Have you tried opening the drivers door and looking at the yellow payload tag? Thats the actual real world payload number for that truck! :) This is a pet peeve of mine when looking for a truck on dealers websites and cars.com etc. None of them have a photo of that most important tag that tells you how much weight can be put in the bed or on the tongue. Some of us actually use a truck as a truck.
Alex, I just don't get the PDI and freight charges. PDI is the biggest scam....why should I have to pay to make sure the vehicle is fit for duty? And, if we are powerless to change the freight then why even tell us what it costs. Just include it in the vehicle cost.
Definitely the best deal it’s a little overpriced I think 30 to 35 thousand is more reasonable but I’d still buy it I’m kind of pissed off because in Michigan if you have a sports car you need a truck to drive in the winter and it’s going to cost like 50 grand but it really is a great truck good job ram.
Bought new a 2004 2500 4x4 short bed 5.9L Cummins quad cab 6 speed manual from Dave Smith motors Kellogg, ID. Best material possession ever invested. Minimal maintenance issues; normal periodic mileage repairs: i.e. Clutch replacement at 96k miles. Full brake job, front end ball joints, wheel bearings at 110k mikes. Note there was no brake maintenance until then...not bad. Due probably to the manual transmission and exhaust brake. Body and interior are still solid; only rust is lower edge of tailgate which I'll replace someday. 19mpg everyday, 11-13 pulling 8000lb travel trailer. I'll never part with it although every time I swing by a dealership they try very hard. I flash them my open carry .45 ACP Colt M1991 series 80 stainless and warn them to keep their distance. General Motors product. BLAH. Ford 'Super Duty' what a joke. Mine has been dyno'd at 345hp, 657ft/lb trq at the rear wheels. That's more than a decade before the monster power outputs currently available. Competition sells more models, truck owners are finicky, no one can honestly touch a Ram Cummins
All comes down to the transmission itself. The ZF only allows for electronic interface. The 2500+ models will likely require a column shifter (because, again, their respective transmission choices demand it).
Tomaz Hilton There's absolutely no space disadvantage to having a column shifter. I also find the dial vague and just plain weird. An electronic 'fly by wire' column shifter with some realist detents would still eliminate the cable and give guys like me the satisfaction of having a real shifter. It doesn't have to be a foot long steel rod like on my current truck. It can look like electronic switch gear and still be a great shifter.
Nice truck. I just hope they've improved on the quality and reliability. Last thing anyone wants while towing a 7500 lb. camper in the middle of nowhere is to have your truck break down.
reliability issues are a non-issue for me; my previous 2010 ram 1500 "sport" (w/ "hemi") was trouble-free through 65,000 miles. At that point, ram introduced the 2013 model, which included the updated interior, uconnect, and ZF 8-speed tranny; I WAS SOLD! I traded my 2010 in on a early production 2013 crew cab "laramie", again with the "hemi", and it has been very reliable, as well. *****NOTICE TO YOU, "NOVICE": try to refrain from making comments on automobiles with which you might not have personal experience. thanks.
Alex another very well done, thorough and polished review. Other auto journalist should learn from you. This new RAM seems very impressive but I am wondering about any thoughts on IIHS for this new model. Transporting my family with young children a vehicles crash test scores are very important. As you know the last generation RAM IIHS scores pretty lousy and unacceptable.
In the first interior explain[Navy/Ivory trim] there seems to be speaker grilles next to the volume and tune knobs in the center stack. Not the same as the 'BarnWoody' interior look. They are part of the HK system?
Toyota and Nissan should go back to amber turn signals in the tail lights. The tail light on the new ones look like the F-150 or Silverado tail lights.
Nice review. I'm not sure if you shot in native 4K or upscaled, but there is some distracting color grading (on the undercarriage of the truck especially). Any shadowy area looks super fuzzy for 4K.
It can't be best. Right now, Ram is torn between consumer demands for features and between reliability, dependability and longevity. I choose something that will live long and won't needed to be fixed every other, goddamn (I saw on one forum a user with 2015 Ram that had to service every week, he posted receipts, from Denver service). So no, I choose GM.
Alex, I need to start looking at your reviews more often. You seem to hit on features and scenarios in cars that others either don’t bother to mention or they miss entirely. Redline Reviews was at the same event as you here and didn’t even cover the back seat at all!
No other videos that I’ve watched have paid as much attention to detail as you have on your vehicle. Thank you 👍🏾
No one is even close to that interior and its features. Fantastic. I've had 3 Rams in the past and have always preferred their interiors over the competition. Great review Alex!
Ram really hit it out of the park with this re-design. Great review.
This is the nicest interior that I have seen on a FCA vehicle thus far. You can tell where FCA places the development dollars for sure.
No review is as detailed as Alex on Autos. 2019 ram is a truck I'd buy, but I already own a 2017 ram. I haven't had any reliability or dependability issues people keep mentioning here.
Quang Nguyen Watch Doug DeMuros reviews if you want every details to be shown but unfortunatly he didn't yet make a review on this truck.
Nasser// / Doug is for humor, not real reviews...
This truck is absolutely incredible. Hope it ends up reliable.
The interior is gorgeous I absolutely love it.😀
I really just want the 12" screen, but to get that you have to get a bunch of packages. Cheapest I can seem to find one with the 12" screen is $55K MSRP, chaching! I just want a sport model with 12" and I don't even need navigation (that's what android auto is for).
Orlander moon
I agree the interior looks fantastic but with a leather covered dash and leather trim on the tops of the door panels, how long do you think that leather will look in 5-8 years in the southern sun states? Even in my northern state the tops of my doors are all sunbleaced. It will be interesting to see how this holds up in Nevada or Arizona. I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty.
And how many times have you cracked the window an inch or two and have rainwater splash onto the tops of the doors, and now it’s leather. Leather doesn’t like water
Love that they added actual amber turn signals to the taillights rather than just flashing the brake light. Very smart detail.
Can't really say anything bad abut the dial shiftier. I have it on a 2014 RAM R/T I drive every day. I personally like it. It's out of the way and easy to use. The idea of a push button for Park is excellent. I too hope FCA is reading this and will consider it for the future.
This is the truck to go for me now! I'm a Ford man when it comes to trucks, but I think Ram outdid themselves with this one!
A great review as always Alex, very professional and not sold to any brand as many of the other ones.
For me, this is the best pickup for a while, but this last model blew me away.
Regards
Every manufacturer needs to go those style headrests. Love the 4 way adjust!
Ram has set a new standard for full-size pickup truck interiors.
AoA ability to explain in lengths and details, really good. If i'm sitting in class for lecture will not feel a difference. very good
The best reviews on RUclips, thanks Alex.
one of the best vehicle review I have ever watched! and I watch alot of reviews... keep up the good work!
Now offering a tuned True Dual Performance exhaust for this AWESOME truck! ruclips.net/video/98_pdPrElJ8/видео.html
Great detailed review. Didnt see other reviews even mention the 12v outlet in dash for radar detector. That is so great so you dont have the long cord running down to bottom of center console.
I love your top quality videos, and this truck is outstanding! Thank you for being awesome! :)
It's like Maserati went to work on the interior. Ram got the best interior!
You are by far the best car reviewer if there is!
By far...the best review of this vehicle on the interwebs! Well done
Alex - you are one of my favorite automotive reviewers! Nice job.
That flat rear load floor means a higher step in height, and likely overall height. Longer wheelbase means more thought required to avoid hopping curbs in tight traffic.
I'll take the half inch step in if it means a more useable rear cab
That’s why there are power and non-power steps available to assist getting in...
Why are you hopping curbs in traffic?
How tall are the damn curbs where you live?
Never towed a 20 foot trailer have you?
Alex, you have been amazing to watch grow into this channel over the past few years! Congratulations!

Great review. However, considering how much time you spent on describing the 4-corner air suspension - you should have delineated its cost in the pricing segment.
Excellent review, no fluff or bs just facts. Love it.
awesome job re-assembling the truck. you should of done a time lapse video of it.
So happy that we can now get them in Australia 🇦🇺 getting one next year
Alex does the best reviews, but I’d like to see reviews on lower trim models the average buyer would have interest in. Not everyone can afford a $60k truck.
You can also use Apple’s USB C to Lightning cable to fast charge your iPhone 8, 8+ and X.
As well as any Android phone that uses USB-C. Apple isn't anything special here.
Nice framing with the cactus
My everyday truck! Wonderful review Alex.
I thank god they redid this truck. I’ve test driven the old and it really felt heavy. Handling was a bit numb
Heavy compared to what? All trucks feel heavy when driven by people not used to driving them.
emdec55 compared to a silverado it the old ram felt way bigger than it was. I didn't mind the steering feel though. Fords was terrible it was way to light, and at highway speeds felt pushed around more than a ram or GM
Larry Rogers
No freaking way... I have a 2017... Almost 400 hp... Awesome turning radius and a blast to drive...ur an idiot
I found that the Ram 1500 was one of the most enjoyable and easiest trucks to drive. The Fords feel lighter because they, well, are lighter thanks to aluminum body panels. But the Rams are far easier to park and place because of the hood shape and great turning radius.
not the f-150...feels light for a full size truck
What a great review 👍 best review about this truck by far thank you
Really enjoy your reviews !!
this is a great looking truck. 2017 and 2018 are super discounted right now though
World Class interior and ergonomics by Ram. Best in class.
Welcome to Arizona!...you picked a nice time to visit..good video and great truck!
Wow, that Longhorn interior has details you'd only see in fine european luxury vehicles!
I like the interior on the Laramie Longhorn more. The interior on the Longhorn makes the truck itself look like home, in my opinion.
Very extencive & professional looking review. Nice looking truck...Very stylish car like interior & those back seats...genius. I predict that this is going to be quite popular. 9:52 "for your radar detector" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bought a 2018 big horn , I wish I could have waited for the 2019 WOW, looks great 👍🏻

Darren the 5.3 is fine, it's just refined to allow for best girl economy but if you need power it will give it to you.
Ahhh, no push button. Really. Come on! God forbid you actually work your hands a little. Wth. Lol
David Sosa that’s just it ! I often have gloves on or carrying tools or something . Have to put everything down to dig keys out of my pockets .
I owned a landscape biz F
For 25 yrs. 15 stops a day, never once considered reaching in a pocket and inserting a key a factor in truck choices.

I'm a Ford fan but Ram hit a homerun here!
Same here. Will give it a year and see how well it does, might get one myself.
Buying this truck as my first car.
YES IT IS . THERE IS NOTHING BETTER . RAM IS THE KING
Looks great inside and out.
Totally disagree.
Totally agree!👍👍
A Tundram! We are definitely moving toward UNITRUCK styling.
I'd like to see more of the vehicle and less split screens Alex!
Beautiful. Subscribed on your channel because of the RAM truck.
Great truck + pro review = sales for FCA
I love 2019 dodge ram 1500 limited
I'm with you. Fist pick up from the big three I like.
I think this truck got the best interior in class.
Alex you are the best! Can you do the 2019 GMC Sierra soon?
So much storage! Damn
Its defiantly the best priced in America, when compared to Ford, Chevy,GMC, Toyota.
Nice detailed review as always
Looks like Dodge got it right. Still prefer a traditional transmission selector (I'd even settle for a column mounted shifter).
All comes down to the transmission itself. The ZF only allows for electronic interface. The 2500+ models will likely require a column shifter (because, again, their respective transmission choices demand it).
Furious321 Make it an electronically linked gated leveler then. The knob shifters are vague.
Then youll lack interior space storage
I know that its a change. I like that that it clears up space.
Last thing anyone wants while towing a 7500 lb. camper in the middle of nowhere is to have your truck break down.
like Fords?
I have a 2014 ecodiesel with 113,000 miles and have had zero problems. I hear this kind stupidity all the time from people who have never owned one.
That isn't an issue for any maker. The low dependability rating has to do with fit and finish and people not being able to figure out the electronics.
Novice MTBer - Lower Your Expectations
More reliable than Shitvrolet or Furd Turds....better than wannabe trucks like Nissan or Toyotas
reliability issues are a non-issue for me; my previous 2010 ram 1500 "sport" (w/ "hemi") was trouble-free through 65,000 miles. At that point, ram introduced the 2013 model, which included the updated interior, uconnect, and ZF 8-speed tranny; I WAS SOLD! Will it blend?
Alex another very well done, thorough and polished review. Other auto journalist should learn from you. This new RAM seems very impressive but I am wondering about any thoughts on IIHS for this new model. Transporting my family with young children a vehicles crash test scores are very important. As you know the last generation RAM IIHS scores pretty lousy and unacceptable.
TJ Sullivan FCA is stating top scores will be achieved with this new model. I agree that the new for 2009 current model needed improvement.
Thanks for the info. I hope FCA is right.
The front fascia looks a bit like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and GMC Sierra combined with some tundra feel on it
Great review, as usual.
It's hard to argue with this new interior... No other truck comes close. Ford better up their game, soon...
Another great review. Thanks!
Thanks for a very informative review.
Cactus 🌵 is giving the long middle finger to other trucks.
In the first interior explain[Navy/Ivory trim] there seems to be speaker grilles next to the volume and tune knobs in the center stack. Not the same as the 'BarnWoody' interior look. They are part of the HK system?
Can you do the Lincoln Navigator and Continental, Black Label both?
I’m sending you new sunglasses for Christmas
Toyota and Nissan should go back to amber turn signals in the tail lights. The tail light on the new ones look like the F-150 or Silverado tail lights.
Great review!
These trucks are more luxurious than sedans
Nice review. I'm not sure if you shot in native 4K or upscaled, but there is some distracting color grading (on the undercarriage of the truck especially). Any shadowy area looks super fuzzy for 4K.
This was shot in native 4K but RUclips compresses the snot out of the video.
You only talk about the "reward" side of the risk/reward equation. The unanswered question I have is how reliable will this truck be?
I always buy used trucks. Ill be sure to get a large selection of used chevys and fords at the ram dealership used car center haha
@R Cruz 100% wrong www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/ram/1500-crew-cab-pickup
I like its looks much better now, less pretentious.
Fantastic video!
Nice! Where are the classes held to operate the screen?
It can't be best. Right now, Ram is torn between consumer demands for features and between reliability, dependability and longevity. I choose something that will live long and won't needed to be fixed every other, goddamn (I saw on one forum a user with 2015 Ram that had to service every week, he posted receipts, from Denver service). So no, I choose GM.
19:22 Its good to know all those Shake Weights went to a good home after being the butt of so many jokes for years.
Alex, I need to start looking at your reviews more often. You seem to hit on features and scenarios in cars that others either don’t bother to mention or they miss entirely. Redline Reviews was at the same event as you here and didn’t even cover the back seat at all!
Nice looking truck
