    My brother had a longhorn. It’s like a limousine. It was such a nice ride. Also, I feel the ram has the best looks of all the trucks save for the sporty Chevy trucks. I do have to say as an overarching statement, the pricing for trucks IS ABSURD!!! They’re not worth the sticker they’re asking.

    • @overduetax
      @overduetax 2 года назад +48

      I put 30,000 miles on a 2019 Longhorn with every option. I just traded it this month. After 2.5 years there was some leaking of the pano sunroof, the right mirror would click and glitch when autofolding, the battery fully drained once which killed it and when that happened I got lane sense, parking sensors and a few other sensors that were unable to be switched on even with a new battery installed (the dealer reset the computer(s) for me which resolved).
      99% of the time the truck was wonderful but with a few years and seasons behind it, I can say it is a phenomenal truck but i would NEVER own one out of warranty. The complexity is going to be the death of this thing.

    Non-truck guy here: I just did this same comparison and I came home with the Ram 1500 bighorn + a few option boxes ticked for long-haul race car transport with a covered trailer; skipping the e-torque and air suspension for reliability. I loved the limited, but it was way too extra and I felt like it would fall apart in a few years... another huge plus to the bighorn is the blackout packages are everywhere on lots right now

      Reasons why people buy trucks:
      They're reliable- you can easily get 300,000 miles out of most trucks.
      They're safer- in the event of an accident, a truck will stand a much better chance vs a car.
      They're much more spacious: some people are just bigger, or they like to have large cabins.

    I had the same view about trucks until I bought one. In June I bought my first truck, a White RAM 1500 Limited with the night appearance package and I can wholeheartedly say I will never go back to a car again. The air suspension is great even with the 22's, the utility is awesome, plenty of space for a family of 4 and luggage, and the truck gets more looks than my previous CL63 AMG. All around win for RAM, guess that's why it's Truck of the Year.

    You are correct that the Ram is better, Thomas, as far as ride. I have a 2021 Ram Limited. If you don’t care for all that chrome, as I don’t either, you can get a black out package for $3,000 bucks, or do what I did, and replace much of the chrome with eBay black lettering, black mirror caps, and order the color-matching bumpers. I also painted the chrome wheels with dupli-color matte black spray paint.
    You’ll enjoy the quiet and comfortable ride, and you guys deserve it. The Tundra’s interior is about 300 years old. The F-150 looks great too, but ride is not as nice and my experience is that the F-150 in Platinum trim is more expensive than a comparably-equipped Ram in Limited trim. The Silverado and Sierra are ok, but the interiors are also aged.
    The Sierra, Silverado, and F-150 have unique and arguably better tailgates, whereas the Ram has a split tailgate option, but the Ram is the only one to offer the Ram boxes, where I keep road-side tools and gear. Also, the Ram has storage bins behind the front seats on the floor. Get there in comfort, and then race. Then come back home in comfort. Get the Ram.

    You’re dead on. I own a 2020 Ram Longhorn as my first truck to tow my Trailex trailer and my Z4M Coupe to track events. The ride and capability is amazing. Add a “baller” (Borla) S-Type exhaust and it awakens the hemi without being obnoxious.

    Went though the exact same thing. Hit Ford, hit Toyota, left with a Ram Limited. It's not even close, but I wasn't buying during COVID and not only was it the superior vehicle, but I got an amazing deal on it. The problem is that it was so damn nice that I caught myself out there detailing the bed after hauling a box.....plus they gave me more than I paid for it on a trade-in. It was too nice to be a truck, it was too big to be a real daily driver. So I traded it in on an 2022 MDX for the wife and I get the Stinger GT. I do miss it sometimes....except anytime I'm trying to park.

    I special ordered my 2020 Longhorn 4x4 EcoDiesel. It's my dream truck. I got it without the big screen, sunroof, etc., but I did get the air suspension, off-road group, larger fuel tank and dealer-installed OEM power running boards. I love it and it wasn't quite as expensive as the trucks with all the options. US$64K sticker price.

    Those looked like the 20" wheels. Any seat time with the 22"? Curious if the ride is compromised when you go that big or if the air suspension could still sort it out? My wife's 2019 XC90 Inscription has the 21" without air suspension and the ride is a lot harsher/noisier than I'd like. I'm hoping swapping out the Pirelli's for Michelins will solve this.

    Fellas, get your Ram Longhorn with body colored bumpers, like I did. The chrome grill stays, but the painted bumpers elevate the overall look of the truck.
    Also, have the exterior door and tailgate badging removed. The 2 hood badges and tailgate's ram logo are integrated into the body, so they can't go away.

    Great video boys. A few comments tho: The Powerboost has a lower towing capacity and lower payload than most trucks out there due to the extra weight. If you are buying for towing, it for sure isn't the answer. The 3.5L Ecoboost would do a lot better.
    You may also want to avoid the Ram airbags here in Canada. LOTS of horror stories in winter where the moisture inside the airlines freezes up and the suspension fails.
    Ram Sport 1500 is what you guys need!

    • @upshifter5316
      @upshifter5316 2 года назад +2

      Corrections, for interested parties:
      1) On the Ford F-150, Powerboost models have an increased GVWR (7300lbs vs 7050 on 4x4 crew cabs) to compensate for the added weight of the hybrid system and batteries. So while payload is still nothing to write home about, it is indeed a) inline with non-Powerboost trucks, and b) higher than any Ram’s payload, trim for trim.
      2) The sentiments surrounding Ram’s poor air suspension reliability in cold climates like Canada relate to the4th gen (through 2018) trucks. Ram redesigned the system for the 5th gens, and to everyone’s surprise complaints from the snow-belt about issues are all but non-existent.

    • @jorgemagana9818
      @jorgemagana9818 2 года назад +1

      @@upshifter5316 Thanks for the comment.
      1) I meant towing capacity as opposed to GVWR. Towing capacity and payload are down indeed.
      2) The system was re-designed indeed but still suffers the same problems. Most dealers and sales persons here will advice to getting the airbags. Talking with mechanics at the dealer also confirms this.

    Geography and my preferences prevent me from ever considering a truck, but the ingenuity that goes into developing the features of these things is impressive. It does make you wonder whether so many American cars are that average because the big 3 spend all their cash on developing nifty new features for Rams, Broncos and Escalades.
    Also, this might be the first time I’ve considered a car’s interior hilarious.

    Daily’d a 19’ Longhorn for 2 years now. I’ll give you the rundown. The Etorque is a gimmick. The only thing it does is provide seamless auto on/off and a super annoying initial 1/2 turn of the tires in electric mode. When pulling out into traffic, if you need to hammer down, by the time the engine kicks on you already have the skinny pedal planted bc you need to “go”, you peel out, every time. Hit the button to turn that off. You are right about how well it drives though. Get the body colored bumpers, minimizes the chrome. Do not get the ram boxes, they notoriously come out of alignment and decrease payload. The seats are a little stiff to me, I’ve owned multiple high end vehicles though, Audi Q7, Infinity QX80 etc. I got the towing spec, 3.92 gears. Its peppy, but get horrible mpg. I initially got 12. Then I put the Mopar 2” lift with 35s, total average is 13 mpg in 2 years. It. Is. THIRSTY. It tows really well, my 4K lb trailer and RZR combo is nothing to it. It tows like a beast. If it got better mpg I’d never consider selling it. Everyone says the 5.7L just needs to “break in” for better mpg, that is BS. Had a Gen2 Raptor previously, Ford had better seats, better mpg, and well, the Raptor rode like an Escalade. All in all the Ram is a great truck. Side note, TFL Truck did a towing comparison, the Ram got better mpg while towing then the new Ford Powerboost. Not surprised. Any electric assist will lack under load. Oh and my kids love the rear cooled seats. Not many vehicles even offer that under $100K USD.

      I have a 13 Longhorn, and fully agree. Towing my Talon is does not even see a hill, but finds every gas station dropping from 20-22 to 10-12 with only 4K weight of a trailer. 160k so far… normal stuff plus a heater core, can’t complain.
